so, question. would an Amalgam Form gain any additional abilities? Like if I put that Fuser I got between Gunner and Shaman, would I get any abilities like, I don't know, Fire Shot? or could I just use Coldfire to see where I'm shooting better? Theorycrafting, yay!

Holy... wow, Silus, you really put some serious thought into the pieces that make up a Spheremorph. So confused by the different types of Fuser... and that's just one piece. Making one of these is going to be an adventure in and of itself. Well done.

"Woah. uh... That's a lot of information there. Let me see if I understand this right. I have a Fuser. Ok, got that. It's a Grid-level Gated Fuser, which means I have to shift into one Form, and then into the form that's connected to it via the path the Fuser is attached to, and I get an amalgam Form. That also makes sense... I think." This stuff is way more complicated than I thought. not stopping me, though. "But what's a Full Fuser do compared to a Grid-level one, and what's the difference between an Auto Fuser and a Gated Fuser?" And what does the Electric Oasis have to do with it. Does this guy know Hapori? Once all of that is answered, i ask, "So since neither of us have the right items or tools, does that mean this can't be installed on my Grid?"
-
uh, what? "Suspension Point, actually. Son of a fishmonger. And you're absolutely right about Desert Spheremorphs. I met a former one not too long before getting this component, this Fuser. He wouldn't tell me much until i was just about to leave." You break my Grid or any of my Spheres, smith, and I'm taking it out of your hide, Spheremount or no. "I'm glad it would work so well. Could you tell me what a Fuser does, and how that piece i found on a tigerplane can be made into one?" At some point I need to pump this guy for information, but this is absolutely fascinating. I hope Eero and Ambro aren't getting too... well, they wouldn't be worried, but i hope they don't leave without me.

A Fuser? Apparently I need to learn more about Morphing Grids if I'm ever to make one. "I hope it's alright that I set this here," I say, taking off my Warrior's mantle and setting it on some free counter space. "You're absolutely right, I am a Spheremorph. I also want to be able to make any repairs I need to my own Grid, which is why I'm interested in the process." I take my Spheremount off, and show him my Grid and Spheres. "While I'd like to look at your models of Grid, I'm very comfortable with my own." As he notices the unusual design, I tell him, "I found this out in the Machine Desert. I call it the Cradle of Chemistry. Would this Fuser, after it has been processed of course, be able to improve it?" I let him take the Grid and Spheres away from me, but I keep them in my sight at all times. I found that through my own efforts. There is no way I'm letting anyone take away my abilities. "I'd also like to know the fee, if you don't mind." Not that money is an object. Ma always did love me, and I am Liira's favorite brother-in-law. Pa may run the business, but they run the books. {Edit: fix wordings and typos}

Must be my lucky day. Thought that I was going to be hanging on to this component that Hapori pointed out for ages. And hey, blacksmithing. Aloi would flip if he found out I was ever interested in his craft. Oh, that would be fun to see. Focus, Jay, focus. “Sorry, I was just attracted by the singing and the unusual tools,” I say. Wow, Jay, very smooth. He obviously doesn’t like outsiders hearing his singing. Say something else, more relevant. “I’m Jay’el. I was actually looking for someone like you.” Not entirely true, but not a lie either. Much better. “You said you can do things with magical hardware? Well, can you make anything useful out of this?” I ask, presenting him the component I pulled from the tigerplane. “I got it off of a beast in the Machine Desert. I’d have gone to Desert’s Edge, but Crook was closer.” Not to mention DEX has probably blacklisted me by now, disappearing in the middle of a dig and all. “If you can make it into a part for anything Spheremorph related, I’d like to watch the process.”

Chapter 47 Annotation *Spoilers everywhere*
Cuaiir replied to Link Von Kelsier Harvey's topic in Warbreaker
I would think that the mental will to resist the urge to clean would be very different from the will to destroy evil, and easier for a normal person to come up with. Note that even when Nightblood was sheathed, it tempted people to destroy, but it couldn't tempt those with pure hearts (see the chapter when Vasher breaks in to the tunnels under the Court of the Returned {terminology check}). In other words, it could not tempt those who had no urge to destroy. Edit: the point I'm trying to make here is that if you have no urge to clean, the brooms can't tempt you to clean. so sentient mundane objects could be fairly benign. also, if i'm remembering right (I'll check my facts shortly), Vasher had to draw Nightblood a little bit in order for him to tempt anyone. if he was fully sheathed, he couldn't do anything but talk mind-to-mind. which brings on the completely different question of what is that sheath made out of, that it can block that much of Nightblood's purpose? -

the limitation there being that a sentient object can only fulfill its purpose while being powered by Breath. to stop the Broom Paradox, all you'd need to do it focus on the thought "everything is clean" and put down the broom. -

The thought of this has been running circles in my head for ages. I'm aware that it would have the same issues, but I haven't been able to come up with anything better. The real problem is that to create a sentient object with a true, immutable, specific purpose, it would have to be "do some thing concrete to something concrete." Since sentient objects last forever (I'm assuming) and nearly nothing else does, what would you have such a being do? heck, now my brain's just cranking out nonsense, like a sentient water can whose command is "water plants." -
i love the use of tabula rasa here. it just made my day. Thank you, and good luck.

I'm approaching this from a different angle: what Command would make something similar to Nightblood - a sentient object - not be quite so... destructive, and what object would you put it in? After all, I don't think Vasher, Nightblood, or what little we see of Shashara ever said that a sentient object had to be a weapon. they just did that because it made the most sense. "A sword that destroys evil? What could go wrong?" Personally I'd go with a shield with the Command 'protect innocence.' -
i had totally forgetten about that. jeez, I'm bad at this.

So, since I've been trolling around here for however long, it figured it was probably time to introduce myself. My name's Josh, and I read way too much. seriously. Sanderson, Butcher, Green, Richardson, Martin, Tolkein, Weis & Hickman, Lackey, Rothfuss... you get the idea. Most days you'll find me working in the theatrical scene shop at ISU or hiding in my room working on this map for Nexus. or sleeping. sleeping is good. And now I'm rambling. Anyway, HAI!

"That still doesn't tell us how far away it is." Ah, screw it, I'll just ask a local. "I'll be right back." I look around the town square, searching for someone who would know something about the West Plain, perhaps a merchant or other knowledgeable local.
