  1. Not according to the rules document, Snoopy. Odium's shard is the only one that doesn't go to Endowment. His power goes to/stays with his last investee. You're right, though, it does say "his shard" and not "his investiture power," so that does make it sound like the entire shard goes to his last investee. Maybe Joe could clarify that for us. EDIT: blue
  2. Unodus, I really don't mean to be insulting with this comment, but it seems like either you're trying to intentionally mislead us or you haven't read the rules of the game very well. Clearly, Odium would choose to invest in his OC's, not a regular villager, since the OC's are on his team. And the OC's have no reason to tell anyone outside of their own team that they were invested. Also, when a shard is shattered (unless by Odium), the investiture ability survives, since it's given to the last person in whom he invested. So if we lynch Odium or get Ruin to kill him, his investiture ability... 1 kill a night... would still survive. And even if we did manage to kill both Odium and his investee in the same night, that's still only 2 of Team Odium. We don't insta-win in that case. We'd still have to find and kill the rest of the OC's (I guess that would be 3 others, if Winter is right and there are 5), which wouldn't be easy. With no kill power, it would be far easier for them to blend in with the rest of the crowd.
  3. Potato batteries can indeed be used for many purposes. Keeping a psychopathic artificial intelligence alive but partially disabled, for one.
  4. ... whoa. (Get it? Ted/Neo...)
  5. Shard of Weak Movie-Science Cliches: When this shard hits 88 miles per hour, you're going to see some serious... uh, crem.
  6. Wouldn't that be Dr. Hoid? EDIT: Added quote box
  7. Oooohhhh. Devious. I like it.
  8. Welcome to the 17th shard! Don't accept cookies from seemingly well-meaning strangers. What's your favorite book and/or character?
  9. Heroes by Alesso & Tove Lo. Also, Rhianna and Eminem's "Monster" for Prof.
  10. I see your point, Snoopy, but would there be no way to actually tell who was the real witness and who was the OC claming it? If there's no way to authenticate the witness and if we guess wrong on the 50/50 coin flip, the witness dies after using their power just one time, and the OC is running around for another cycle. More to the point, though, if Team Odium has a protector role, they could just protect their fake claimant and nothing would happen even if we guessed right. Or what if a villager protector role decides to pick sides and accidentally protects Odium's claimant, but nobody protects the real witness? That would be a disaster. I guess the point I'm getting around to is that if there's a witness double-claim, we should think about just killing both claimants straightaway. It would cost us a villager, but it would also cost team Odium an OC or even Odium himself, and we have more numbers than them. I think that's a strong option to consider, though I don't like guaranteeing that we lose a villager. If we can't figure out who the real witness is, though, we're going to lose them anyway unless we make sure to protect two people every night, one of which is guaranteed to be at least an OC. EDIT: As I'm thinking through this a little more, my point about Team Odium protecting their own still holds true even if we try to kill both claimants, as we don't have the ability to have more than 2 killing roles in a cycle (a lynch and a Ruin-kill in the day cycle). So we still have a potential exposure, but the coin flip is not on the person, it's on whether or not Team Odium has a protector role. (And remember that Peng was protected by a lifeless on day 1, so that's one protector lost for either the villagers or Team Odium.) I'm not 100% sure whether I think my own plan is the best idea, and I'm willing to listen to other opinions, but I'm definitely thinking it's the right idea at this point.
  11. G'day fair dinkum wallaby dingo, mate. Koala. (That's American for welcome, person from Australia. )
  12. I was waiting on Sarc to remove his vote from Meta, and that's good enough for me. But we still have a tie, right? Clanky and Winter? @Mckeedee: You're watching me because I did RP? Ok. Should I do less RP?
  13. If you're just "keeping an eye on it," Gamma, then why did you vote for Clanky? Snoopy has no votes. You're not tying Clanky with Snoopy or anything. Both of them are basically equally suspicious in my mind at this point. I'd rather focus on questioning the more experienced players' votes, since I would expect them to actually have a better reason for voting than "I want to eliminate an experienced player." (Obviously, I'm thinking of Sarc with that comment, since my vote is still on him.)
  14. After reading back through these posts and previous cycle's posts, I have to agree with Winter (and Meta). Sarcomere's behavior is questionable. And as Winter said, you haven't really given what I think is a solid rationale for your suspicion. Sarc, it looks to me like you said you were voting for Meta because, basically, he knows what he's doing, and that could get us killed if he's wrong. While technically that's correct, I don't see why that's a reason to lynch him. I'd rather be able to hear the advice of an experienced player and decide for myself whether it's the best action to take... at least, at this early point in the game. Voting to take out an experienced player very early (and after someone else had already voted for them, so you're not the first)? That looks a little too much like OC behavior to me. (I'm still open to hearing your arguments, though, and I'm open to removing my vote if you can explain your suspicions a little more clearly.)
  15. Vineyerian was exhausted. He had helped stand watch over the Roshar travel por... uh, "shardpool," for much of the night while Clink and the other Rosharian worldhoppers had told educated him about the basics of the situation and about the war that was just beginning for the very essence of the Cosmere. Finally, someone relieved him so he could get some rest, but he couldn't even begin to fall asleep. His mind was racing. I have no idea what I'm doing. How did I ever get involved in all of this? I randomly stumbled into a hole in the Purelake one day, and the next I'm a pawn in some interplanetary war. These "shard" things are so powerful... and this monstrous Odium with his champions. I was trained as a huntsman, but how do you hunt someone you can't see or track, and who makes it their business not to stand out in any way? I should have stayed at home with my old huntmaster and his cantankerous axehound. Still, Vineyerian knew he now had no choice. He was involved in the war, and he had to find a way to help... and to survive. But how? He only had his hunting knife and trapping tools. That didn't seem to be likely to be of much use here. Hey, maybe I'll talk to that Frank fellow. He seemed eager to sell some weapons... I've been following this discussion, but I'm not sure who I want to vote for yet. I see reasons to suspect several people, but the person I probably would have voted for initially, Peng, is immune. So I'm going to hold my vote for now.
  16. Are you sure that's now the witness works, Meta? The Expanded Rules doc says: That makes it sound to me like if the Witness chooses to activate their power and there's a kill that night, they will learn the identity of one of the killers at random. If there's only 1 kill, the witness finds out who the killer is. If there's 2+ kills, you get one of the killer's names at random. And if there's no kills, you find out nothing. Is that how it works, Joe? And if there are multiple kills, does the witness find out who the killer killed, or just the killer's name?
  17. 50 Shards of Grey. /runs
  18. Why, that means that a cookie sticks to your computer better than a spike to a potato in a minefield!
  19. Welp. Joel Saxon York Nalizar Stephen Leeds (I actually haven't read Legion, but I know that's the main character's name.)
  20. Exel Val Mizzy
  21. Hmm. If this is from the Alcatraz series, I'm lost, because I haven't read those. How about Calamity?
  22. Jason Write? The Varvax ambassador?
