But it's sooo worth it. When I read them i took me ages as well, even though I'm a fast reader. But Malazan is briliant.

YES! I'm so hyped for that.

Isn't Madagascar's capital something long that starts with A, and sound a little like Tenerife? xD Atatanariva? Atananariva? Atananarivo? Atatanarive? One of these or something similar? Or maybe not? I probably missed 5 letters. xD I only always remember it sounds like Tenerife (it probably doesn't, but oh well...) I'm so bad with capitals. -

If all the forum users try together, we can do it! I can add one to that list: Tunis. We're almost there. xD -
But modified dream isn't what I dream about, is it? And the whole university thing I'm trying to do right now for me is kind of one chance in a lifetime, and still knowing that I postpone all the assignements till very last minute, which decreases their quality and makes it totally impossible to do anything in case accidents like the one today happen. I'm such a bloody dissapointment of a person.

So, I wrote an essay. Yes, yet another one. And since my time management skills are worse and worse every year (I don't know what's wrong with me. Maybe I've burned out my energy.) it is probably the worst essay of my life. Seriously. But I think it's a pass. So more or less. The problem is that, the website I needed to submit it on didn't want to work, and when it finally did, it was so close to the deadline that I had to really hurry to submit it on time (I didn't want to get late submission penalty), and then by accident i submitted the DRAFT version. Yeah. So now in best case they will let me resubmit my essay, but will give me late submission penalty, and in worst case I'll get 0, because this draft is really bad. Bye bye, good grades. Bye bye, good life. Bye bye all my dreams for the future. See you never.

This was my reaction too. I can only think of 2 examples of this (LoTR and the Belgariad/Mallorean books mentioned in the OP) offhand, so I'm not sure I'd say it is quite a pattern, but it could be. if so, I would assume it is probably what you suggest. just a sort of an unconcious ignorance thing I do agree it's a subconcious thinking that probably is the result of some kind og ignorance. But I wanted to add that this subconcious thinking is the result of hundreds and hundreds of years of geographical, historical and political factors affecting the way of thinking of the West. I could list hundreds and hundreds of examples. So I think this way of thinking is simply sometimes too difficult to avoid and it just finds it way into novels because of that.

Ehm. Flour, milk, eggs... that's all? What's the fourth one? Salt? But I wouldn't call it a principle ingredient. Oil for frying? Are we talking about strictly french crepes or crepes in general? And as for the other part, my favourite topping (or filling, actually) is quark with soured cream and sugar. Though the meat and mushroom ones are also good. Or sauerkraut and mushroom. Mmmm. In case I'm correct: WLIU, Name 15 countries in Africa. -

Finally the question I can answer. H, He, N, O, Cl, Ne, Xe, F, Ar, Rn, Kr WLIU, name all three taxonomic domains of organisms (proper names please). -

Huh. I wouldn't trust books like these, to be honest. Without a single reference like this, the author could very well conclude as well that Britain didn't invade Isengard and Valhalla, but they did invade Tír na nÓg. Or something like that. Yes, I'm just complaining for the sake of complaining. I don/t like books like that. The whole "invasion" thing is so increadibly stretched, so you can include more countries, so the book sells better. Stupid. -

I found the list, but I can't find the research it's based on. Do you know where to find it? And as far as I managed to find in last 10 mins (it was quich search), then this list looks like a bit of a stretch. The only instance of "British invasion" on my country I managed to find was a single battle 600 years ago (that my country won, btw.). However I'm not a historian, I might be wrong. -
Does anyone here watch Concrete Revolutio currently? It has kind of interesting art, but that's not why I'm asking. The reason is that on MAL there is lots and lots of people saying that this anime is completely confusing, because of non-linear plot (it has lots of time-skips) and only because of that they rate it very low (how can you even rate an anime after just 3 eps...), dorp it and so on. And I just can't understand how can anyone find it confusing, as I think it is all perfectly straightforward. I mean, obviously we don't know what exactly is going on, but doesn't equal the statement that "it's confusing". The same way one could say that any mystery anime is confusing, because you don't know what happened. I don't know. Does anyone here watch it? Could you share your opinion? I really like the non-linear plots, and I always enjoy time-skips, whether in book, anime, movie or anything else, so I just might be positively biased. So I just wanted to know that anyone here also thinks it's confusing. I'm not saying that it is amazing anime, or anything, because it has some problems. But just this one thing keeps bothering me, everytime I read the comments on MAL.

Sure. I like making bad science jokes, because all the good ones argon. Although physics jokes have potential.
-
Well, I know quite a lot of chemistry jokes. But last time I told one there was no reaction. But oh well, let's try: Two men walk into a bar, the first orders some H2O. The 2nd one says ‘sounds good, I’ll have some H2O too’. The second man died.

Baccano! is amazing. I agree with every word. I think it's in general one of the best shows of all time, and is definitely in my top 3. The time-skips and number of characters make it confusing at the beginning, but I think they've done it on purpose. That's why I think it's best to actually binge-watch it all in one go. It's aboslutely worth watching. If that's when you stopped watching then you still haven't seen all the best parts! I mean But yeah, things can get really bloody and graphic in this anime. Sometimes when I see particular scene I just feel the pain of the character. Well, it's not anime for kids, that's for sure. EDIT: Actually I have Baccano! opening music set as my ringtone ever since I watched this anime, which means for years. It's kind of cool and laud, so works well as a ringtone. Though it annoys everyone around. xD

I thought about watching this series many times, only to forget later. Thanks. I think it will be a fine show; after all Shinchiro Watanabe is its director. Yes. Everyone please watch Zankyou no Terror and tell me what you think. I watched it quite some time ago, but I still don't know what to think about it, and my feelings are confused. I mean, it didn't excite me that much, and plot probably could've used some improvements, especially the middle episodes. I can't say it's an amazing anime. I can't say that I love it or that it is my favourite. But in the same time I easily rate this anime 10/10. I have no idea why. Every episode left me with extreme satisfaction (like my life was fullfiled, seriously), ending gets me crying everytime I see it (even out of context), even though I don't cry like this usually. Well, and the soundtrack is beautiful. I don't know. My thoughts about this anime confuse me. I guess I can say it's briliant but not exciting anime? Maybe 'stunning' (in very literal meaning) would be best term to describe it? God, I don't know what to think. Someone help me.
-
OMG, thanks for that! I just watched 1 ep and I'm crying from laughter. That's amazing.
-
Is it a book?
-
I'm just pure guessing now, as I haven't read that in 15 years or something, but is it Alice in Wonderland? No? Wait, what? Do we already know the answer to the previous one that your posting new bad description? Did I miss something?
-
What does it mean half right? O.o Does it mean it's similar manga? Same author? I don't get it. O.o
-
Oooh, this is hard. I haven't read that much manga. The only things I can think of now are Noragami or Hellsing, but neither seems to match the description well enough.
-
Am I the only person here that thinks that the fact that is extremely funny? That is soo wrong.
-
The Incredibles. Well, that's probably not it.
