You should watch K:Missing Kings movie. The movie is sequel to K season 1, and K: Return of Kings (K season 2) is sequel to the movie. The movie answers a lot of questions like that...
-
I did. I'm just checking things out, so I watched quite a lot of things already. For some of this stuff I didn't even finish one ep, some I finished, but wasn't impressed a lot, so I'm not going to write about. And some things like Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry is just so plain, general and predictable fantasy/romance/ecchi that everyone has seen so many times, that there is no point to write about it. I guessed the plot of the whole season of this anime from description alone, and first episode only confirmed it. Meh. Really meh. So, first episode of Noragami was all right. However for me it seems like the plot is going to move forward really fast. Almost rushed. I kind of expectwed it, because by the look of PV and OP they planning to animate not only Bishamonten arc but also Ebisu arc and that is a lot for 12 episodes. I would really prefer that they did 24 episodes with maybe 3 arcs animated, or even just these 2. I just have to add that because they made the OP and ED sequences so similar to the one in season 1 it's easy to compare them. Well, I liked the previous ones better. The new OP song is quite catchy, but not enough. Well, and manga is better. PS. Was that... Hiyori fanservice that I saw in this episode? REALLY? I don't remember anything like this from the season 1. C'mon, really? Geerz. K: Return of Kings. Well, so far I'm disappointed.I had high expectations, because I'm really a fan of this franchise, so this episode was kind of a let down. There was lots of action, but I've seen ALL of it in the PVs. Nothing new really, and the overpresent CGI was bothering me a lot. There's more of it than in the previous season or movie. Also felt forced for me. There was no reason to them, except for pleasing the ship fans. That's also a type of fanservice, which was already present in the episode way too much. I mean, all these Seri's close ups in the most annoying way possible. I know that the movie already had more fanservice than season 1, but this is too much for me. I don't like fanservice, and I hope they'll tone it down in future episodes. Well, my problem with this episode is also that it was a lot of a "introduction episode". It is an eye-candy, it has fanservice, action, and exposition (really repetitive for someone like me, who follows the franchise and knows all this stuff) by some minor characters that no one cares about. Also my fav character has basically no screen time, and what he gets is the scene we already seen in the movie. My second fav char, also almost no screen time. Well, will see how next episodes go. From the PV I think that next ep may either give us plot or even more exposition... But what I really enjoyed so far was Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen. I have no idea, what it is, so I watched it without any expectations. And I liked it. The animation is nice, the world looks nice, so in general I think it might end up as a nice anime. The pacing is a little slow, so I don't really see the plot yet, but from what I've seen it may actually be really general fantasy plot that we've seen so many times before. Also, it worries me a little that apparently it's based on the game, so it's possible that the MC character mystery may simply be never resolved, because that's just how these games are... Heavy object: Well. I'll see how it goes. The first ep had lots and lots of exposition, but no actual plot. So right now it can be either another version of Aldnoah.zero (which was bad), but with ball-shaped robots, or a pretty decent sci-fi war story. We'll see. Well. That's all I had to say so far. EDIT: By the way, did anyone here watch Zankyou no Terror? It's an anime from 2014.

Social Network? I've just watched it, maybe that's why...

Without Looking It Up (game)
Pestis the Spider replied to Newan's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
One short. But it's still your go, you just need to post funny pic. Well, I don't even remember how exactly Kevin Spacey looks like, so I'll skip this one. -
That's what I wanted to say! Not fair... *joking* So a 12 year old protagonist is still a middle-grade book. Uhuh. I'll get there. Need to get my definitions straight.
-
Wait. WAIT. There is something between kids books and YA books? How did I missed the existence of middle-grade books? OMG, you changed my life. O.o

Without Looking It Up (game)
Pestis the Spider replied to Newan's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Well, I had a look at wikipedia as well, and I did not expect that Switzerland has no capital at all. So I think that Bern, as the de facto capital, qualifies for the answer then. My bad. : ) -
Book? Movie?

Without Looking It Up (game)
Pestis the Spider replied to Newan's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Well, since you didn't ask the question, I'll just say some things, also WLIU, because I just like this topic. So, Hungarian is not Indo-European, but Uralic language. Hungarian, Estonian and Finnish are tricky this way. And Basque is even more tricky, since Basque is just Basque and doesn't really belong to any language group. So it's not Indo-European either. And I have to admit I didn't know there is a language called Romansh. Nice to know. EDIT: Also WLIU some questions to the previous comment, about European capitals. Because that's also interesting. Where are "Bruno" and "Kalinin"? Never heard of them, but maybe my problem is that I don't know English names of some of the capitals. Also: Bern and Hague are not the capitals of their countries. And the capital of Andorra has a nice name of Andorra la Vella (I like the sound of it). But amaaaazing job. You remembered so many. I would find that really hard. So yeah. What's the next question? -
Sorry, you're right of course. I oversimplified this. By "definition" I meant the set of traits that are generally considered to make a given "object" alive. I think that it is generally agreed that all living things should be clearly distinct from the environment, be able to metabolsie and reproduce in one way or another. Then comes growth, response to stimuli, and so on and so on. The list of "life's" characteristiscs changes depending on the scientist, but some things are almost always included, like for example metabolism. That's why viruses are not considered alive. Well. I would say we talk about microorganisms in general. Sure, from Earth organisms bacteria would be probably best suited to live on Mars, thanks to their huge, huge biochemical variations, but whatever we find there (if we find it at all) may be so completely different that it can't be classified into one group of Earthly organisms or the other. It's not like it couldn't be some kind of anaerobic eukaryote with bacterial biochemistry or something else that's completely weird. I just agree that it's probably going to be small and rather simple.
-
Maybe it is unlikely, but it does not make it impossible. Keep in mind that I'm not talking about complex life forms, but the simplest of the simplest microorganisms possible, simpler than the bacteria we know now. Of course the cons of silicone as a base of life would not only limit the complexity of life but also it's adaptability, which could very well make it limited to the one single acid-pond (or something) in a middle of nowhere on some far-far forgotten by God planet. Of course, you're probably right that life needs carbon, but that is only because we are strictly limited by the definition of life as we know it. Even our Earthly viruses are not considered life, according to that definition. I'm not saying that's wrong, but I'm saying that what viruses do is clearly distinctive from what other not-alive organic particles do, and so I think it might be possible that we will never find life as we know it in space, as definition of life is just so long and complicated that forming such life may simply require too many coincidences for it to happen twice in this universe. But maybe will find something that vaguely resembles life and has some of it's characteristics, but not all of them. Who knows? Also, saying that silicon is not used by life on Earth at all is not precise. Sure, it's not really majorly incorporated into organic compounds that life is based on, but silica is an essential nutrient to huge amounts of organisms, especially in the sea environment.
-
I don't think that lack of magnetic field would be that much of the problem to potential microbes on Mars. Microbes are extremely variable and can be found in basically every environment, even the most deadly one. And even on Earth we have animals (not microbes, but much complicated organisms for which ot is much more difficult to adapt or acllimatise. I mean, obviously, tardigrades which were tested and confirmed to survive even floating in space... Of course, they wouldn't be able to actually live there, only survive, but I think microbes should be able to accomplish that. We don't even know that. It was suggested and discussed many, many times that life could be, for example, silicon-based, not carbon-based.

So today I have PMS and this terrible cold, and I feel really sick and I couldn't sleep, so I'm barely staying awake, but I still had to go to uni. And there I had this practical lab. And during this lab some of the groups suddenly started to do something weird, and my group didn't know why, so we asked the demonstrator, and the said that we shouldn't be doing same thing, but they're doing it because bla bla something. Well, the explanation was terrible and didn't explain anything at all, but my group didn't care and they went back too work. But I wanted to know why, because all groups were supposed to do the same thing. So I asked this demonstrator again, but his explanation didn't make any sense and didn't answer my question. So I was still confused, so I asked him again and again and again. So at the end he decided to explain everything from the beginning even though I knew all this stuff and it still didn't answer my question. So after 15 minutes of pointless explanation of basics I managed to realise that my misunderstanding of this problem came from my misunderstanding of the aim of this experiment. But because of this whole situation I felt like a total idiot, so I couldn't stop myself from crying (yes, adult person crying in the freaking lab, but you know... cold and PMS and that was just to much) even though I knew that this is not my fault that this demonstrator guy doesn't understand any question you ask him and can't explain a thing at all. So then the floor leader/lecturer/important person noticed me crying and she asked me if I understand everything. So I told her what I didn't understand before and what the demonstrator guy said. And then the lecturer said that the demonstrator was wrong (!) and she explained my problem properly with ONE sentence (yes, that's possible!) and I understood this explanation with NO problem and basically apparently I've been right the whole time. But it was too late because I've already been crying at that point and my group already thinks I'm an idiot and a crybaby, and they are all annoyed with me, because they think that I should've just helped them with the lab work, so we can all go home early instead of trying to understand the theory behind this lab work properly. And basically this day is bad. Edit: Some word and spelling mistakes as I write on the phone. Sorry. I'll correct them when I'm back home.

What's the answer? It's been a week since the last post...

I've just started watching Shokugeki no Souma. It is extremely enjoyable. I didn't expect it to be so much fun, however I still need to skip the "way-too-ecchi" parts, because I am definitely not a fan of ecchi, and these are just too much. But I still love it so far. Great comedy.

Ah, I just found this topic. Does it mean I need to remove my signature altogether? That's unfortunate. If I remove the spoiler tag not only I will have a big picture in my signature, but also the users who see it will get a heart attack. Well, the same thing would happen even if I found smaller picture of similar content. Hmmmm... I'll change it to something. But I'm disappointed.

Well. I answered "yes" to all. I would gladly read/try all of them, especially that I actually already read most of them or have them on my "to read list". Of course, it's impossible for me to like them all, I would have some favourites, but it's not because I prefer some themes and motifs over the others. For me it depends on the book itself and how it's written not it strongly generalised content. I'll read everything, especially when it comes to fantasy and sci-fi. The only books that I would maybe hesitate a little, are the romance books, since romance is something I like a little less. But every other thing from the chart? Bring it on.

Is it a book?

To be honest, I've never actually read the chapters that were covered by the anime. I rarely do that, to speak the truth, unless I do a reread, as I am more of the anime-watcher than manga-reader. And I just can't stand knowing what's going to happen, when I read manga, because I watched the anime. So I usually just skip the adapted part, and very, very few mangas were an exception. Well, Magi wasn't, because the art is really not nice, and if I had to read through known plot in addition, I would just drop it. And as far as I know Magi adaptation is pretty good and pretty close to the original, and so when I continued with the manga I didn't have any issues like "oh, but according to anime character development, this character shouldn't do that!" or something, so even if they omitted some character development in the anime, I think it probably wasn't anything dramatic. Well, obviously I am not sure, since I haven't read it, but I just feel this way. And I actually think that season 2 was better than season 1. EDIT: I hope they'll make season 3. Would be awesome. But we're need to wait a while, since they adapt about 100 chapters per one season, and so far there are only about 80 not adapted chapters available. But hopefully, hopefully...

The manga has 15x better plot than the anime, seriously, and really is on par with FMA manga, which, in my opininion, is the greatest manga ever. Pandora Hearts manga is in my top 3 (2nd or 3rd, can't decide) currently. But the Pandora Hearts anime... well, it's a little meh, and it completely fades in comparison. The most guilty are last 3 episodes, which were the ones to destroy the plot, and were also completely rushed... Read the manga, people, seriously. Actually... skip watching the anime, it's not that great. Just read the manga. This is amaaaazing. I actually rewatched today the second season, because I really love this anime, even though the main character is just a kid, and usually that's not the type of anime that I would watch. Also it has really nice plot, which made me continue with Magi manga, even though the manga's art is not that good, and usually I don't watch anime or read manga with art that I don't enjoy. But the plot, the plot is really something in this series. I do enjoy it a lot.

Top ten lists of authors.
Pestis the Spider replied to Darkness Ascendant's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Well, I believe that something like objectively good book actually exist. Also there are books that are maybe not perfect, but have pros that are just impossible to argue against. Noone says they're bad, even if they don't like them. Of course, there are also books so objectively bad, that even the person that likes them shouldn't say that they are any good. And then the majority of books is neither oustandigly good, nor bad, so the decision whether they are bad or good just depends on readers tastes. Sometimes the "taste" might be so strong that the reader may think that the book is better than an objectively good book, or objectively bad book, but that's not exactly true, that's only subjective opinion. And that's just my personal belief. -
Which Book Genre Do You Prefer?
Pestis the Spider replied to DanTheSeamonster's topic in Entertainment Discussion
That comment is just 100% truth. I voted fantasy, since that's what I commonly read, and it is definitely my favourite genre since I was 7 years old, since I've got my first proper book in my life, which was the first Harry Potter. But I also absolutely adore sci-fi, and I really like historical fiction, horror, psychological thrillers and mystery.
