Preservation + Honor = Oathkeeping

From now on, lets assume that Vin doesn't have Atium. Okay? Also, this is hypothetical. No need to worry about resurrection.

I don't think that you could do what Toph does, as she doesn't just melt earth, she manipulates it. A Stoneward (Cohesion and Tension) could use Cohesion to melt the earth around Korra, then Tension to solidify it. Then, imagine a Windrunner working alongside a Stoneward. The Stoneward could use Cohesion to melt the earth, then the Windrunner could use Gravitation to move it! Also, about the example of leaving a handprint in a table, this fits with what I said before about Cohesion, as with weaker intermolecular bonds, the table becomes more malleable.

Mistborn Spoiler:

I'm new to these forums too, but not to Brandon Sanderson books. I have one thing to tell you: finish the Mistborn trilogy; it's good! Actually, I have another thing to tell you: join the Dark Alley!

I agree with the comment on Shardblades not being Pushable or Pullable; they aren't metal.
-
Maybe Cohesion weakens or disolves bonds, and Tension creates or strengthens them; this fits with your Q&A quote above. So, Cohesion dissolves people, and Tension covers Roshar in Ice-nine.

Granted. You see in color again, but you see the wrong colors; there will be blue oranges in your future... I wish to be a tuna. -
We know what most of the Surges of the Knights Radiant do, but we don't know the abilities that the Surges Cohesion and Tension grant. The WoR Ars Arcanum speaks of the "Strong and Weak Axial Interconnection", but what are these? After looking at the Wikipedia page for Cohesion, I have realized just how powerful the Surges of Cohesion and Tension may be; Cohesion is the property of like molecules sticking together. Cohesion is what holds a solid together, and what gives water its surface tension. With the ability to manipulate cohesion, these are some of what a Surgebinder might be able to do: Tension: Walk on water by drastically increasing its surface tension. Tension: Solidify air by increasing the attraction between its molecules. Cohesion: Vaporize people and objects by removing all Cohesion between their molecules. Cohesion: Use any sword as a Shardblade by weakening the Cohesion of molecules around the blade. Basically, a Surgebinder wielding Cohesion could melt or vaporize any object without changing its temperature, by decreasing molecular cohesion. This could be very useful in a fight as you could simply dissolve your opponents or their weapons. Tension, on the other hand, increases molecular cohesion, so it could be used to solidify objects. Please post replies of what you think that Cohesion does!

Anniversary Game: In the Re-Wake of the Koloss
ostrichofevil replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I am Lord Ostrich Maliscei Tekiel. I am a stained glass merchant. I am secretly an alias of ostrichofevil, the professional Elsecaller who ate Hoid. However, this is earlier in time, so I have not yet visited Roshar, gained a Nahel bond, or eaten Hoid. -

Can the damage dealt to the spiritweb by non-lethal Hemalurgy be undone? -
My theory is that the God Beyond is an entity or force in the Spiritual Realm, rather than in the Cognitive or Physical Realms. The term "God Beyond" states that the God is distant, maybe from the entities in the Physical Realm. This is backed up by the fact that while there are known ways to travel between the Physical and Cognitive Realms, there is no known way to reach the Spiritual Realm. Another way that the term "God Beyond" could be interpreted is as being on the other side. The Spiritual Realm could be where spirits go when they die, and the term the other side is used to mean wherever people go when they die. The God Beyond might also have to do with the Spiritual side of Spren.

I've seen discussions about fights between two characters from different cosmere novels, e.g., Vin vs. Kaladin or Vin vs. Shallan, but never between Szeth and Vin. This, in fact, sounds like a much more balanced fight than the others; neither Kaladin nor Shallan has gained enough experience with their powers (or Shardblades) to beat an experienced Allomancer like Vin, while Szeth is a practiced Windrunner and Shardbearer. The setting for this fight is an open landscape, and Vin has plenty of coins and Allomantic metals (aside from Atium), while Szeth has plenty of infused spheres. Who will win? Post a reply for how they achieve victory.

I think that Devotion added to any other Shard would strengthen the Intent of that Shard, as Shards are devoted to their Intent.
-
Right now, I think that Vin would win (more fighting experience). However, in a few years, with more Soulcasting experience, Shallan might be able to Soulcast Vin, the air around Vin, or her metals.

Soulcast normal coins into gold, than use it to buy thousands of vials of Aluminum. Soulcast atium into quinoa. -
What is this "Dark Alley"? Are your "cookies" hemalurgic spikes?

Hello! I'm new to 17th Shard but I've been reading (and rereading) Brandon Sanderson's books for over a year. I have read the Mistborn trilogy, Warbreaker, Elantris, The Emperor's Soul, The Way of Kings, Words Of Radiance, Steelheart, and the Rithmatist. My favorites are the Cosmere novels, particularly Words of Radiance. I have determined that I am an Elsecaller, taken up Odium and Honor, and (sort of) invented a Cosmere RPG with my friends, mainly centered on Roshar. I am also a Feruchemist in my spare time, and I ate Hoid. (Dalinar is my next target.)
