    @Quiver I know it's not worth it to me, but maybe you'll find a depraved sense of enjoyment out of it @Darkness Ascendant The Defenders should be just fine, so long as they don't need to do any other origin stories. If they do, they did it wrong... that was the whole point of doing the different series before hand! So there wouldn't need to be any origin stories!

    There are seasons. I at least find it useful to think about periods in life as such. Certain seasons, say an icy winter, are unbearable and while you are in the middle of it, it can be hard to believe that nights will shorten and days will grow warmer. It's the same with tough life periods. While we are in them, it's hard to imagine that things will change. But it will change and the current pressures will let up.

    I finished Hearing Secret Harmonies, bringing my reading of A Dance to the Music of Time by Anthony Powell to a close. This must be what Harold Bloom meant when he referred to the "sublime." It's been a few years since I've been left dazed by the conclusion of a series. (The last being The Prince of Nothing series for non-sublime reasons, and then the Aegypt cycle by John Crowley before that). Now to read The Dark Forest by Cixin Liu for Book Club next week.

    @Queen Elsa Steelheart Be sure to keep communicating with people who care about you. Your boyfriend, out-of-school-counselor, the Shard and anyone else you can think of. As Twi pointed out, what the chullheads are putting you through is unfair, but you can not act rashly or on impulse. These communications will help sort through what you are experience and choose the best path available to you.

    After, say, nine months of not having a personal laptop, I'm back typing on the internet with a new one! No longer will I have to deal with inputing stuff on a phone!

    Honesty is the best policy. No need to beat about the bush or act coy or play the guessing game. Awkwardness is unavoidable, but you can make sure that expectations are known. Or, if you want to be more circumspect, you can try to turn it into a group thing. See if he has friends and turn it into a "meet a bunch o' folk deal-i-o". Something might come of it, or nothing might, but it gives you an opportunity to imply you do not see him as a romantic interest and extend your social network.

    The acting ranges from terrible to acceptable, which doesn't help some of the terrible dialog. The plot is...let's say that I watched it with someone constantly talking through it and I didn't miss anything. And let's talk about the main character: he's an annoying jerk. The "mystery" is not much and the tragedy is pedestrian, and there appears to be nothing noble about this guy. It's essentially Awkward Creepy Guy the Tv Show, with the main plot being Danny wondering why nobody finds his creepiness charming. I'm going into a bit more harsher detail just to make one thing clear: The idea that critics rated the show so low due to PC reasons is demonstrably false. There's plenty to critique without evening mentioning that. Further credentials: I have not seen any of the other Marvel Netflix series, so I am not comparing it to that. I did see the first few episodes of Agent of Shield and felt about the same way as I do with Iron Fist.
