  1. There's one episode left and it airs this Saturday.
  2. Let's get some dancing in this joint!
  3. @Mestiv & @Oversleep the Mine Turtle Song is my favorite song of theirs!
  4. @Sunbird Sounds to me that the woman was not knowledgeable at all about the problem at hand. It's a shame she never learned that I such situations where you can not add to the conversation, you do not add to the conversation!
  5. Honestly, I have not seen anybody go into real detail or examine the foundations of their beliefs on this site. I am actually under the impression that such critical analysis of belief is actively discouraged. Essentially, it seems that one could state their beliefs simply, someone else says "Oh!" And then a third person comments on how civilized the theological discourse is on this forum... as if any such discourse has taken place! Rinse, wash, repeat and you got this topic with only some minor digressions in this routine... like this post!
  6. Some people just want to watch the world burn!
  7. That still leaves you with fifteen Edit to add: Sorry for the teasing! To be honest, I can not name them all without looking them up, but here's a silly list any way!
  8. You know there are 16. 17 if you count Mr. Bean.
  9. @Delightfully Smoak I think we're mostly in agreement. There is no reason to "ban something just because something is bad and garbage. Particularly because whatever "harm" it might do can be mitigated very easily by readily accessible resources.
  10. It's hard for me to say, because I'm not invested in series like that, so the closest I've been is an author saying "it'll take three years" and it comes out in three years. There is a dialectic you have to maintain. First, yes it does suck and you have a right to feel that way. Second, you have to understand you aren't entitled to a complete series. You have no contact, implied or explicit, that the author owes you the next installment in a timely manner. While those two concepts combat each other in a Hegelian death/ life match: find new books and read them. If you have plenty to occupy your attention, the authors being total dweebs all of a sudden does not matter too much.
  11. And it comes off like that because it really isn't a story about why someone committed suicide. It's a story about a boy who is worried he caused his unrequited love to commit suicide... oh, no, wait, he didn't, he's actually a good guy and he can bring those responsible to justice! Like I said, self-indulgent garbage. The focus is not really on identifying the mental anguish of the suicide victim but on the "poor fellow's conscience" who will never be able to ask her to the prom now
  12. Based on what I've read, that's my impression of the book and show. Essentially a self- indulgent take on dealing with suicide.
  13. Apparently, it was a best-selling YA novel... which are all the rage these days for television adaptations!
  14. All you need is a big, purry kitty!
  15. I am a vicious and wild hunter, fear me!
  16. Loved Three Body Problem! And The Dark Forest! Waiting until September for the trade paperback of Death's End to finish the trilogy.
  17. I was holding it together quite well until the following scene:
  18. Well, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the cool anime. Full Metal Alchemist is...cough... garbage on comparison.
  19. Finished The Darkness That Comes Before. My plan is to read the books in time for the release of The Unholy Consult this summer.
  20. Here's the thing: there is graphic and there is effective. I do not think there is anything in the Prince of Nothing series that is more graphic then what you see in A Song of Ice and Fire or Malazan Book of the Fallen. But it is more effective. Bakker is much better at conveying a sense of wrongness, injustice and grimness. So, I would say give the first book a shot. It will give you a good idea if the violence and sex are too much for you. Honestly, you might find out the heavy existential themes are not to your liking and set the book aside before you get to anything too "icky."
  21. @Sunbird You'll be happy to know it is cold in Ohio, and all our April showers are happening in May!
  22. @Left Ooooh.... Yeah, in that case if you don't like Royal Assassin, there's no point continuing.
  23. @Left When I first read it, I enjoyed Deadhouse Gates, but I was not madly in love with it. Memories of Ice continues the story started in Gardens of the Moon and introduces the framework that you will use to understand the series as a whole. Really, you can not say Malazan is not for you until you have read it
  24. Of course they are. It's also how you would normally find out if your information was stolen.
