  1. You poor, summer child. Some information... if you dare!
  2. Haven't read FoL yet, and FoD has its whole set of problems pertinent to this thread. But what I am thinking of takes place in The Lees of Laughter's End.
  3. Bakker is very frank in his sex description. This could be a deliberate choice to create a feeling of discomfiture or a failing of his as a writer. I am really not so sure. In either case, in Bakker, sexual violence is depicted as wrong. I recall one instance when Erikson plays an instance of sexual assault up for laughs. (This is not in the proper Book of the Fallen, but there are some issues in the main series as well).
  4. It's funny that more focus is being given to Wonder Woman in this trailer, now that her movie is almost out. Which makes sense. Wonder Woman is what will possibly save the DCEU.
  5. Good man. Here's two pence, now mind your studies!
  6. I am currently reading An Essay Concerning Human Understanding by John Locke! Real exciting stuff
  7. The Unholy Consult by R Scott Bakker. And if Esslemont is continuing his trilogy this year, I'll grab that right up! Edit to add: there is! This August!
  8. Yep. We like to think that people are good and could only be tricked by devious means, but it turns out they are just waiting for an opportunity to manifest their worst selves.
  9. Live? In Australia? You are braver than I!
  10. It's time to teach...*takes out a lead pipe* the teacher! *sets lead pipe aside and replaces it with a polymer pipe. What? I was doing some much needed plumbing renovation whilst commenting. It's called multitasking! Oh cruds, I punctured the main water line!*
  11. In my case, you end up with bloody feet! (Yeah, I'm confused too)
  12. @Queen Elsa Steelheart like Mestiv said, the principle desire you have is to escape a toxic situation. You believe you do not have many options, but you do. One thing you need to do is seek help. The following link is a phone number where you can speak and get help anonymously. By calling this number, you will be taking control of this crisis in a positive manner. http://www.thesamaritans.org.au/?gclid=CjwKEAjwu4_JBRDpgs2RwsCbt1MSJABOY8ang22lOcJRoZdkYxTefPYLBKVmtVy30jIog8ckA-ZWrRoCzcXw_wcB
  13. I read Milton, Cervantes and Dante in grades 6 & 7. They're kids stuff! Bradbury, his reading level is one that requires a soul! Jabbing jokes aside, I find Bradbury gets a lot better as one gets older, particularly because the core of a lot of his writings is that of an older person remembering more innocent days. This nostalgic pathos permeates his work!
  14. You bet I did! Particularly because now, if you order on Amazon, you save something like 15 bucks! Its well worth it for the original price, on sale is a no brainer!
  15. Wait, Everyman's has an edition of Ray Bradbury's stories? Everyone should drop what they are doing and grab it right meow! Seriously, the hardcover is on sale for 20.45! Get it now! The Stories of Ray Bradbury (Contemporary Classics Series) https://www.amazon.com/dp/0307269051/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_-ALizbZCTM9KC
  16. Let me calm your mind on that point: Lovecraft is a terrible writer. They should have named purple prose after him! What was the story, anyway?
  17. @Oversleep That's great that it worked for you! But medical treatment sometimes is not a one size fits all. In this case, some people may just need to wear an eyepatch for a bit, others can wear glasses and still others would have to have surgery.
  18. Having known someone with lazy eye for decades, the answer is no. It might be possible to fix with surgery, but then again that may just result in a more "cosmetic" result and not a functional one. Glasses won't do anything.
  19. You'll go through different names before one is settled on. I was Generation Y, then the Pepsi generation and now, I'm on the older side of millennial. At least the term Pepsi Generation is no longer a thing *shudder*
  20. You know, there was a time when Garfield was associated with quality!
  21. If I were a fan of the show? I would feel insulted
