Quick rebuttal: a call for calm is usually a means to declaw the opposition. If one only wants to discuss things in a "collected" manner, then by all means do so. That does not mean that someone has to ignore their hurt so others will be more comfortable... particularly because that hurt is part of the reason to call out the behaviour to begin with.
As far as the Doctor being female: Moffet did set the stage for this to happen. I can not recall another instance when a Time Lord changed gender/sex/whatever-term-you-want-to-use-I-don't-care before Missy (with the exception of a comedy sketch involving the guy who does Mr. Bean, but that's hardly canon). So even if he will never do it, he has made it feasible for someone else to do so.
Now, should they do it? If they do, the necessity for female writers will be a lot greater, I think.
