The practicality of joining a speed eating aside, the world is all about who does what first, as Hoid says. Speed is the single most powerful ability in that regard, especially since it does so much more than running. You can do any physical thing faster. If you can find time to store it is a significant advantage.

How would some of the Metal Arts react to other magic systems
natc replied to Bowiespoon's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I would question you on the matter of Shardplate not appearing and disappearing, because when Radiants used it in the visions the helm clearly pops out of nowhere and vanishes. Definitely a different substance though. For the record, mist is not a metal and can be burned simply because it came from Preservation. And while Preservation is certainly better at powering allomancy he's not the only one who can. God metals are of the unique position of powering directly while serving as the catalyst, unlike the base 16 that provide no power. If it's metal and made from shardic investiture it's not unlikely to work regardless. -
The strangeness of that model is that I don't think the area-of-effect actually stops emotional allomancy for anyone but yourself. Perhaps it just has very extreme fall-off over distance and emotional allomancy is rather "loud"? We know from TLR that it can definitely just punch straight through with enough strength, but is weakened. Why does an internal metal produce a field like that anyway? Copper is strange . . .

. . . you realize that they could just tie those on, right? It's not a gemheart unless it's coming out of something's chest. As for why an animal would even have one . . . well there's that theory regarding all the gravity(?)spren we see near large greatshells . . .

poll Kelsier and Vin. Versus the Thunderclast
natc replied to Darkness Ascendant's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Guess the important question now is "What power level are Kelsier and Vin at?" -
Until the offer to forge a soul came in she was basically completely screwed, and it wasn't an easy job even then. Artificial intelligence is tough. Even then without having formed certain friendships things could've ended differently. Honestly I doubt Hoid would've cared what happened afterwards.
-
The armor is perfectly normal though. It feels more reasonable to associate the gemheart with the gravityspren thst tend to show up near greatshells.

And suddenly that quote has a whole different meaning.

He got Shai arrested and made off with her prize. I think that must've qualified as a detriment.

Well, it would have to be a cognitive entity he can interact with. Dead people are easy to come by.
-
That's what they would do if you just burn it. Lerasium itself apparently has various uses with regards to spiritweb modification, but defaults to making mistborn. Presumably the alloys are a similar case.
-
There's also the "be fullborn yourself" route, but that's not ever gonna happen with the Lord Ruler around. Just to point out as well, according to BoM the Empire's aluminum was harvested from inside ashmounts. Then there's the problem of purity, which is the current snag to cheap aluminum in Elendel.
-
I'm not sure why they would have to do with the gemheart. Do the crabs and lobsters where you come from have gemhearts?

Because you're making yourself (a self-proclaimed god) look vulnerable before some just to create a failsafe in preparation for a supposedly impossible event. Actually a good hit will knock the teeth out so piercing bracers are actually safer. In the event that he does get hit by something despite ridiculous speed. Which is just slightly less impossible.

The Pits didn't have an eldritch god of destruction and entropy stuffed into them.
-
It should, I believe. Inquisitors apparently used their spikes to store. You could also try to burn it, since it's technically inside you, but . . . yeah, don't do that.

He's literally had his head crushed before and healed up, IIRC. He might be fine unless you set off a nuclear bomb in his sleep. Assuming that he can't maintain his force field in his sleep of course.

Princess Bride is the kind of thing that's sappy enough to make me cringe physically, but it's just so sappy and hilarious that it goes off the chart and loops right back around to being enjoyable. Gotta thank my old high school teacher for putting it up for lunch period movies.

Apocalypse Guard: New Series in the Reckoners Multiverse
natc replied to Argent's topic in The Reckoners
So now we go from badass normal people killing Epics to Epics saving the multiverse. That's a thing. -
Might need to be made taller as well as reinforce them, actually. For lurchers trying to do the same. Gotta be a safe distance between each too. Must be a desirable mode of travel to keep most of them from just bounding off buildings as shortcuts all day.

Speaking in Elvish sounds fun. Or dragon. Totally useless though. Instant potato powers are better.

If we beef up the atium burn more and more you eventually just see the spiritual Connections outright, IIRC. And yes, that would be strength. What you're talking about is practicality; two seconds or so is just perfect as a foresight range for combat. Any farther is hard to base snap decisions on. But that doesn't make a weaker burn stronger, the stronger burn is just less useful. Ham, for example, advocates holding back his pewter except when necessary because it is overkill and unnecessary. Allomantic strength does not make a power more effective, just more extreme. I doubt it's possible to get a future shadow that just stands there, to be honest. The future is too unstable, and depicts active events. The past is set in stone. Elend saw events in motion, but that's because atium visualizes everything else around you, reaching into the Connections and extrapolating, while electrum cares about you. The "shadow" is a mental projection of the information anyway; it's possible that a freeze-frame can be achieved. Which brings up a good point. Malatium is single-target as far as we can tell from Vin's POV. Relative to atium that's rather peculiar. Kind of leans towards them not being direct opposites.

The Dor does try to pass through Raoden in bursts rather than continuously, though I'm not sure about a patter. Stormlight, however, does actually pulse and is incapable of constant illumination even within spheres. It's just more steady than light from flames. How much of it is due to the swirling around in its container though, also not sure. Then there's the Rhythms, of course. And as seen in WoA (and the overlapping portion of Secret History) Vin detects bronzepulses from cognitive shadows and Shards of Adonalsium (the latter only when their presence is focused on a spot).

Shardblades are a seemingly generic term for invested swords of this type (including Nightblood). Honorblades are the specific ten shardblades granted to the Heralds by Honor, capable of turning their wielder into a surgebinder. A specific set of blades, distinct from all others and defined by their origin. Spren somehow reverse-engineered the process of granting powers with their own forms, which resulted in their blade forms. You can't just become an honorblade any more than a shiba inu raised by a wolf and learning its mannerisms and hunting techniques could become a wolf. They may do similar things, but a dog is a dog. Besides, presumably half of Radiant-creating spren barely have any relationship with Honor at all.

. . . wouldn't that just be stronger electrum? Atium when duralumin flared already shows the end result of things for every other object besides yourself.
