  1. Isn't Vax a planet (going by the Coppermind here)? With a hard copy version, I can't trade in mine with the new version for free. I'm trying to make up my mind whether it's worth buying the book again for a few pages of extra material, most of which I can scrounge up the information via the Coppermind of elsewhere anyway. Also, Brandon "hasn't ruled out" just posting the altered/added scenes onto his website or similar.
  2. Sorry. I don't use Amazon very often, so I won't be of much help. Maybe try again in a week or so? (Also see if you can get a more sympathetic telephone operator, which can sometimes make all the difference.)
  3. I was thinking the Matrix, but I had no idea for the other one. Anyway... I'm intrigued, I'll admit. It also reminds me of the sample chapters of the Liar of Partinel.
  4. I know technically I may not need to spoiler here, but I'll stray on the safe side. Also a reference to where exactly the Rose Empire is, which is nice, even if it is only with question marks. EDIT: Regarding Nazh - I think usually he might have the ability to worldhop, but can't because Sel is 'tricky' somehow?
  5. First of all, welcome to the 17th Shard! Have an upvote. Having read your post, I'm afraid I have to respectfully disagree with your analysis of the usefulness of WoB (what we call Word of Brandon.) It has long been a tradition to ask Brandon questions to attempt to gain a better understanding of the cosmere. In fact, there are some things you've mentioned that were, in fact, created from WoB's. The name 'cosmere'? That didn't come from any of the novels. By all means, I would love to hear your theories. And it's not to say that the books aren't invaluable to our knowledge of planets within the cosmere. But, WoB's can augment and help, or else destroy, your theories, should they prove correct or incorrect. You also seem to be questioning the legitimacy of the signings. While many facts are contributed by individual Sharders, they would have no reason to lie. They are after the same goal as all of us, to discover more about the Cosmere. To lie and make false presumptions would only hinder that goal. They don't even gain notoriety from it. You see, when Sharders search for WoB's, they go to a place called theoryland.com. You can search through all the Brandon Sanderson interviews there (in addition to Robert Jordan, who the site was inherited from), and WoB's are added when admins find a tidbit that they think the general fandom should know. So, while I will be eager to hear your theories, I might view them with a healthy dose of skepticism as to their truthfulness. I apologize if this seems like a personal attack. I in no way mean any offence by it, and if you have an issue with any statement in the thread, then let me know, and I'll rephrase the offending sentence/paragraph. Regarding how to start a knew topic, just go back to the main forums, click on whatever section is appropriate (Cosmere Theories is probably the one for you in this circumstance), and select 'New Topic' in the upper right hand corner, like you did with this post.
  6. Sorry, realized there was a page specifically talking about the maps. Ignore this.
  7. Go and tend very eager junipers. Now! Immediately! GULMOYTFD
  8. Fifty lamentable anteaters ate ninety thousand incomprehensible mice under shrubs. GULMOYTFD
  9. Sadistic jaguars bite evil teapots. FOLMNIG
  10. How well you look today, Dorothy Sandra Elizabeth Taylor. (If ridiculously long names are against the rules, say so below) APQNSOV
  11. Okay. Fairly simple rules. You post an encrypted code, the next person decrypts it, posts a new encrypted code (different message, different encryption) and the next person decrypts it, and so on. E.g. (the first code is just a letter-number conversion. The second one, though I didn't post the answer, uses something called leet speak.) You get the picture. So here's the first one. xlwvh ziv ufm.
  12. Friend Donald Horklump, dispose undesirable rattlesnakes under five Holdens. Don't you see? (I know. I don't get it either.) PLORSUV
  13. Using Hemalurgic Spikes as a fashion statement. (Somehow, I don't think it will catch on, though.)
  14. Done. I might start doing political maps soon, as well as where species are located. If you want to post about that here now, you can. (I probably won't make the map for a little while, though.)
  15. 1980's film - one king steals from another to reclaim his former glory. Is 'king' literal or metaphorical?
  16. "Never trust a Returned - they'll knock your Breath away."
  17. Chaos, I'm really sorry if that's how you interpreted it that way. It's not what I meant at all. We had discussed the theory of multiple pages before that, but we didn't create any because we thought it might be smarter to wait for the subforum to open up. So, when Rubix said "it's not necessary at this time", I thought that was because there was only a single page at that time. It wasn't in any way meant to be a blackmail technique, or anything underhanded. It was just supposed to mean "Hey, everyone, let's just create those pages we were going to create now instead of after the subforum is up." I'm sorry if I offended you through my poor choice of words. For the record, I'll rephrase it now.
  18. Sorry, it's hard to tell exactly where you mean. Anyway, it's done.
  19. @Seonid: That's fine for now, but if it fills up, I might have to ask you to cut down...
  20. Actually, technically speaking, what state water is in doesn't directly relate to water, it relates to density. Before you ring up the mental asylum, let me explain myself. Liquid water becomes a gas because the particles that make up the liquid are forced apart. Usually, the way humans manage this is by heating the water. However, other things that will force the particles apart can also lead to the water becoming a gas. The only other way that humans can currently do this is by placing the water in a vacuum. Scientists have done this, and made boiling water at room temperature. So, it's only because of human association in the past that people think that boiling water=hot (and ice=cool, the same principle applies, even though I can't be bothered talking through it). If you have any questions, ask me, or look it up on the internet.
  21. @Zed: You have claimed your spot. To view it, see here. You are actually very close to Kobold, sitting right on the Arctic Line, with some mountains in your territory. You should be fine.
  22. gwslow: Please double check and confirm. Mailliw: Is that what you want? Mistrunner: I've actually given you 2 islands. However, it's quite possible they're connected by an ice sheet, as it's in the arctic zone.
  23. I concur. Just for Elantris, after a brief glance in Google Images, I found at least 8 different covers for various parts of the world.
  24. I'm one of your favourite Sharders? Why, thankyou! Anyway, if you want to join, go to this page, and select a piece of land to work with. That's... basically it. Enjoy!
  25. I vote we wait another day (so I get a chance to nominate characters). If you decide to wait a day, then my vote is this: Wax (how is he not there already!) x3 Hrathen x1 Sarene x1
