  1. No worries! It's what we're here for.
  2. We've known Hoid has never been a Shard already via WoB, if I am not mistaken. It is interesting that he notes other though, implying perhaps he's already influenced by one of them?
  3. I've been considering picking up Mansions of Madness. I'll have to grab it once my friends are over the Cutthroat Caverns craze.
  4. *raises hand* How do you get slightly impaled?
  5. I'll keep that PI for Bubbles. It'll make writing her way more fun anyways. And your idea for centering her is awesome! We'll need to figure out what's at the center though. It would make sense for Rainmaker to build some sort of HQ there, as it is the farthest place for any invader to reach when breaching the bubble. If someone wants to play a Queen I'll drop the Powerpuff idea. I really just want to play the bubble character, and I can change Blossom and Buttercup to the smaller epics. If no one else wants to play a Queen though, I'd like to keep the Powerpuff going. Feel free to veto that though! And Comatose, I might PM you further details on the characters so as to not clog this thread up (and risk a post getting missed).
  6. I'm the guy among my group of friends that finds the odd or obscure board games and gets everyone hooked. For example, I'm the one who introduced my friends to Betrayal at House on the Hill. Betrayal is definitely one of my favorites. Another good one is Resistance, a streamlined version of Mafia essentially (it's spin-off Avalon is also good). If you want cooperative board games, one of the best is Arkham Horror, all of its expansions and spin-offs as well. If you intend to play it, expect to put in a lot of time learning the rules, but once you know them the game is great. Very difficult though, expect for your team to lose mildly often. Another good cooperative game that involves some backstabbing is Cutthroat Caverns. This is the game I've got my friends hooked on currently. The game advertises itself as a table top RPG without the dice rolls. That's not entirely true, but essentially you are a member of a party that has delved into a cavern and has found a very rare and valuable treasure. On your way out, though, you must overcome 9* obstacles. These include beasts of the deep, as well as traps and the like. The tagline for the game is "Without teamwork you will never survive. Without betrayal you will never win." It's a blast. The game has released 4.5 expansions as well, providing more replay value than Betrayal does (as once you've played all 50 scenarios of Betrayal, like I have, it's a bit unfair to continue playing) and adding easy mechanics to the very simple mechanics that v1.0 had. It's truly an easy game to pick up. I spent more time shuffling the cards than I did reading the rule book before my first time playing. Highly recommended. *Certain encounters can and will add more encounters to this number, making the game longer than 9 encounters.
  7. All right, well if you'd rather not have the Girls in Corvalis just say so! You will just be cruching my soul not be hurting my feelings My thoughts were to give each of the girls the secondary ability of flight (can't be a Powerpuff without it) and an individual primary ability for each of them; Bubbles being the bubbles, something not-plant related for Blossom (to avoid any cross over with Cornucopia, I'm thinking elemental powers to somewhat fit with the show, or light manipulation), and I was going to give Buttercup some form of strength based power and have her be on the team responsible for losing Euphoria. After all, I figure Euphoria is too important to be left to a guard team without a Queen on it. I'm planning on Bubbles and Blossom not having a PI, but Buttercup might have "toughened skin," which is no where near Steelheart level, but helps her be a better brawler. Or I might not include the strength, but just give her a healing factor akin to Wolverine, providing her with a somewhat PI (I would not make her capable of healing a severe wound to the brain or heart, or any loss of limb) but her only other power being flight. I've got all of their weaknesses too. How powerful were you wanting the Queens to be? Bubbles is set, so she's not very powerful at all, but Blossom and particularly Buttercup can be adjusted drastically to fit with your desired power levels. As for the Calorie Counter, I can definitely give Buttercup that instead if you would like. I suppose this comes down to how many Queens you want in the group. With your High Epic, Euphoria, the girls, and Cornucopia, that's already six. If you're wanting less than 10, I'll absorb as many desired Queen powers as I can to allow others to play as Queens if they'd like
  8. He had provided a short bio in which she was not named Blossom. If I'm mistaken I'll have to rethink some things.
  9. All the pages of posts to read. It took me an hour to catch up on the twenty pages I hadn't read over the weekend... Anyways, Corvalis. I think I'll jump into the OEU there. I really like the idea of the Power Puff Girls being epics. If you don't mind, Comatose, I'd like them? I saw that Voidus took the duplicator/plant grower, so I'll have to come up with something for Buttercup and Blossom. I'd also therefore be taking over the forcefield Epic, now to be officially known as Bubbles (so long as I get her). The PowerPunch Girls are a go! Assuming your consent, Comatose.
  10. For starters, the story of the LotR trilogy, as a whole, is very similar to the story of the first Mistborn book, tFE. In LotR a tyrannical leader has risen once again, and is trying to take over the world to (likely) destroy it. In tFE, the tyrannical leader has already taken over the world. In both, a small team with very small chances of success set out to stop the tyrannical leader. In both, the mentor figure dies (Gandalf/Kelsier). In both, the heroes eventually succeed. The above would result in a comparison between TLR and Sauron. You can broaden your scope though, for LotR is also very similar to the story of stopping Ruin, thereby comparing Sauron to Ruin, instead of TLR. Many of the comparisons will remain, and Ruin fits as a better counterpart to Sauron that TLR does. Good luck!
  11. Weapon-wise you are correct, Eliwood is a cavalier. Stat wise he usually hits Paladin levels (unless you're having a playthrough where the RNG hates you...)
  12. I've never heard them called that, and I've taken and aced college level statistics twice (one business stats, the other engineering stats)...so yeah...*shrug*
  13. Holy virtual reality simulation Batman! Perfect State was a great read!

  14. Well he certainly seems to understand, because he remarks that the Wode could just stick a needlue in his jar to get some DNA.
  15. Well met Talion! Did you bring Celebrimbor with you? Take an upvote!
  16. I would imagine any genre is fair game. The amount of Horror states might be far less that the others, but I'm sure there are people that would thrive in a zombie apocalypse world. I know I wouldn't though. In my mind, the purpose is not the sex itself. The purpose is to interact with a Liveborn of the opposite sex. Let's look at it another way. Prior to coming to this Communal State, Maltese, what contact did Kai have with other Liveborn? Only Melhi, a Liveborn whom Kai never actually met, because Melhi was clever enough to only send robots on her behalf. By requiring this date/procreation meeting, the Wode can guarantee that a Liveborn will come into contact with another free thinking Liveborn, whom they have zero control over. Such meetings often result in conversations like the one Kai has with Sophie; ones with deep meanings that can change an individual's outlook on life. Now, that's not to say the goal is to have all Liveborn wanting to reach beyond their State's borders, it just happened to work that way with Kai, but it's an important event that should happen. Also keep in mind that not everyone is chosen to procreate. I would bet money that the Wode picks Liveborns that have been pent up in their Personal States their whole lives. We meet, in Chapter 2, a group of Liveborn that clearly frequent Communal States. I would bet they aren't picked to procreate, and if they are it is to give the illusion that the selection is random. Obviously there is no evidence for or against this, but it would make sense, assuming I am right with my assertions in the above paragraph.
  17. I would argue this paragraph means what it says as well, as in here is a scholar's opinion, though it was biased and portions were wrong. Obviously there are multiple ways to interperet it though
  18. That...isn't true at all. The goal of a research paper is to have infallible sources. Upon discovering that that is likely not going to happen, you do point out flaws so the person reading understands you know what you're talking about. You are also expected to find and use sources with minimal flaws in them. This is even more true when it comes to "English" essays, which is what the wording of the text suggests to me Words of Radiance is. To provide an example, when writing a paper about dinosaurs, unless I have intentional need to include it, I would never use a Creationist's article that claims the dinos never existed. But if I were to write an article about Scrubs, my favorite television show, my dislike for Carla would likely bleed through. Anyone trying to use my article as a source would need to be aware of such a bias, and potentially need to point it out in their essay.
  19. I've never seen that phrase used that way. I've only ever seen that phrase used when the speaker means "you assumed, but you assumed wrong."
  20. I would like to say I find it hilarious that there are two TwyLyghts right now. One with an "s" at the very end, and one without. Teehee
  21. Sounds good. Thanks.
  22. Quick question. As I am going through the pages for Perfect State, do you want me marking them complete myself for you admins to double-check, or leave them as stubs and request they be marked complete? It'll be odd creating all those talk pages just to say "hey, mark this complete, the novella barely mentions this." But if that's the system we want to use I'm all for it. I just don't want to annoy anyone. It occured to me I can also ask for completion in the italicized tags next to the update on the Recent Changes page, but I'm not sure how much people pay attention to those? I'll refrain from completing any pages until I get an answer. Thanks.
