We met in the grocery store I thought you were a real bore Yeah you found me in that aisle As we walked in single file Oh you touched my shoulder one-nce I thought you were a real du-nce But what I couldn't see-ee Was that you're perfect for me! CHORUS Yeah you melted my heart_________ But we grew apart_________ We were the talk of the town________ Until we had a melt-down! We had a melt-down! CHORUS Yes I think you look delicious And I love that you're religious Oh the way you look at me-ee Really makes me want to SQUEE! Your tattoos are really coo-ool 'Specially when in the poo-ool As a couple we're so chi-ic Yeah it makes me want to freak! CHORUS Then one day in the park You grew so very dark You told me I would suffer For being such a bluffer I said I'd never lie But you told me I would die Yes my cheeks sure did redden When you brought up armageddon Oh now I am all alone Sitting here up in my home Wishing I were still with you Yet I guess that we are through CHORUS CHORUS CHORUS

I wonder what an Obliteration led sermon would be like?
-
The lyrics would likely involve him somehow melting her heart, for the relationship to end up having a major melt-down.

Nightblood + Skybreakers [Spoilers for WoR]
Blaze1616 replied to MitchBade's topic in Stormlight Archive
Truer words have never been spoken. -
I've never hit the upvote quota before, but that might change if this keeps up... Side note: I apparently make really funny noises as I try to keep myself from bursting out laughing. The guy in the next cube over isn't sure if I'm dying or not.

I think the real question is whether these are nightmares or not. If they are, perhaps Obliteration is the weakness to your shipping powers?

Bubble's bubble isn't so much a forcefield as it is an indestructible wall. It's not energy, it's a physical thing. Bubbles has control over what can and cannot pass through the wall. Edit: Ninja'd

I think the biggest issue with your theory, Mckeedee, is that the device in Steelheart used to sense Epics gave a negative reading for David. So unless David also has illusion/reality powers in addition to everything else he'd need to have, and he subconciously used them at that moment, it's pretty solid he wasn't an Epic.
-
The main issue with winding up outside Corvallis is that you'd then need to get back in. That could take some time, given I doubt Rainmaker will want to continue the scheduled bubble drops until Euphoria returns, if she ever does. That means you're waiting until something happens to Bubbles, and you'd need to be at the bubble waiting when that happens. If you do choose to do that, the sneakiest place to get back into Corvallis when the bubble is down is through the large forested area west of the bubble. That has some rather rough terrain, though, so the easiest locations to get back in are either within Tangent, Albany, or along the Williamette River.

What's the best way to show someone you appreciate them? I'm currently struggling with this...
-
Remove their brain and install it into an immortal mechanical shell.
Failing that, just telling them how awesome they are usually works for me.

-
If I had a machenical shell to put it in, I'd take your advice, but unfortunately I don't.
I also find my words, when spoken, are much less...refined than when typed online? If given a minute I can come up with something good to say, but otherwise it tends to come out "Yo, you're pretty cool." And that's not quite what I'm aiming at here...

That would be a fun Epic. He'd work better as a Smedry though, I would think.

Any theories as to how Nightblood... [spoilers]?
Blaze1616 replied to Bondsmith's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That is a very good point. I still disagree, as Vasher's had a far longer life span to hone his skills, though. -
I regret not being able to upvote your FE picture more than once. Well, kinetic absorption clearly saves her from the winds and the hail if she notices it. Once she's absorbed that energy, converting it to heat should allow her to counteract the cold. Another option is to let her die, reincarnate, and then try to get back to Corvallis for revenge or whatever other reason you'd like.

"Blossom, are you seeing this?" Rainmaker's words spoke softly through her mobile as Blossom watched the display of electrical power. She acted calm, but her instincts told her to run. Of course I see it! She clearly has some form of energy manipulation, as Cornucopia just said! Blossom crossed her arms, hugging her own form slightly. She wasn't a very strong Epic. She had no form of invincibility like her sisters or Rainmaker, and her powers were not widely useable like Buttercup's either. She had positioned herself as a Queen thanks to her brains, not her powers! Besides, going up against an energy manipulator was crazy! All three of her offensive powers were useless! Blossom maintained her outward composure. "Rainmaker, Cornucopia was right, this Epic must be an energy manipulator. She seems to be able to convert between various energy forms too. Heat, kinetic, electrical...I'm curious if she can store potential energy too." Blossom felt like her words were meaningless as fear trickled into her. It was gone, however, the moment Rainmaker attacked. "I have a wind tunnel ready, Blossom," Rainmaker spoke again, the orders to attack left unstated. Blossom wanted to tell Rainmaker how it was all likely pointless if the Epic can absorb kinetic energy, but she could feel the wind tunnel pulling on her clothing, her hair. Taking a deep breath, she felt her chest begin to chill. the feeling rushed up to her collar bone, then her neck, and finally her mouth. She exhaled, and as she did so her breath shot out from her, ice crystals forming immediately and shooting along with the breath. Getting caught up in Rainmaker's tunnel, the ice picked up speed rather than slowing down, shooting down the tunnel at speeds faster than Blossom could ever make them go. At least Rainmaker used ice attacks too. If the Epic tries to absorb heat first, something might get through. If she goes for kinetic energy though, I can't be sure any of this will matter. Bubbles enjoyed car rides. She couldn't remember the last time she had actually ridden in one, as she relied on her flying powers most of the time now. The vehicle was mostly quiet, only the engine and the soft battering of the rain making any noise. SparkPlug and GasMask were up in the front, but this vehicle had a window installed between the front seats and the back, allowing Bubbles some privacy. She was trying to sketch on her small pad, but the bumps in the road were ruining her work. She didn't mind, but it was frustrating. She was drawing Denver from a distance, and the city looked nice. Too nice, to her. She placed her eraser on the pad, ridding it of some of the lines before fixing it to her liking. The vehicle began to slow, stopping on the side of a road. The window separating her from the other two Epics began to roll down. "Ma'am, news from Buttercup." It was GasMask. SparkPlug didn't much like talking. Bubbles stopped drawing to look up. "What did she have to say?" "The initial riot by the humans has been quelled, but they've been interrupted by a gifted vanilla, and then an Epic. She's unsure if the two are connected in any way, but she wants us to switch to bunker Beta instead of Alpha. Do you have any objections?" Bubbles kept quiet for a moment. GasMask and SparkPlug were so nice for Epics put in their predicament, in charge of yet another Epic's life. She trusted them, but they had needed to prove themselves first. She lamented the fact that they were male. Males could rise up to some of the upper positions within Rainmaker's government, but they could never be Queens. Well, they could be queens, but not in the sense that Bubbles and her sisters were, and sex changes were so difficult to get after the rise of the Epics. She allowed a sigh to escape her lips. She'd help these two if she could, they had been good to her, but she couldn't. Cutting off a man's schwing-schwong did not make him a girl. It only made him scream like one. "No objections from me. She's the Queen of Security, do as she says." Bubbles returned to her drawing, but the window did not roll up. "The change in location will increase our time on the road. Can we get you anything, perhaps put on some music?" Bubbles didn't look up from her pad, but she offered the man a smile. "Thank you for the offer, but no. Let's just get there as soon as we can, yeah?" She could see him nod out of the corner of her eye, and the window rolled its way back up. The vehicle rocked a bit as it accelerated, but she had anticipated that so her drawing was unscathed. As the SUV settled, she put the finishing touches on. It looked much better. Denver was burning.

Any theories as to how Nightblood... [spoilers]?
Blaze1616 replied to Bondsmith's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Well, Vasher does miss Nightblood. I don't think it's a stretch to say he's looking for the sword. Particularly when you consider the fact that he's waiting around in a war zone, the likliest place to run into a magical sword that is stronger than the local invested weapons. -

Any theories as to how Nightblood... [spoilers]?
Blaze1616 replied to Bondsmith's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Out of curiosity, is there a reason you believe Dalinar and Adolin to be better than Vasher? I have to disagree, otherwise why would Dalinar send Renarin to the ardents when he can have Adolin train his brother instead? I disagree with this theory because which baddie would take the sword, and why? It makes more sense for Vasher to move to Roshar, take Nightblood with him, and then have the sword stolen once there. Particularly because the person who currently has Nightblood, Nalan, has been stuck on Roshar for what, 4,500 years? So unless you're suggesting there is a secret struggle to control Nightblood on Roshar, it makes more sense for the sword to have been stolen on Roshar. -
Mine was something along the lines of: That's a rough paraphrase that pretty much captures what I said. Obviously I sent my request shortly after the White Sand GN news surfaced (approximately that same day), and I remember including a section of the e-mail explaining that I'd understand if they chose to no longer send out the pdf due to the recent deal.

I'm feeling good about The Martian. I have next to no knowledge about the movie except for that it is a thing, but they could do some really cool things with it. Even though the majority of the book is the journal recalling past events, it's told in such a way that turning it into "current" events on screen isn't an issue, you'll just miss a handful of jokes about "well I obviously lived..." but those weren't among the best jokes of the book so their loss is no big deal.

I couldn't easily find a smaller version so I apologize for the sheer size of that. Also, I hate that face. Anyways, to stay on topic, I had always presumed being Epicified meant having your body morph into a beautiful specimen of humanity. I did not, however, think it meant you stayed that way, nor did it mean you were ungodly gorgeous. Wasn't that unlimited bullet Epic described as overweight, or am I misremembering? Also, if they were ungodly hot, wouldn't it be much easier to pick out Epics from a crowd?

Yes it would work, but like Voidus mentioned the temperature would slowly revert back to non-icy conditions thanks to convection. Blossom's breath has a max range of 20 ft because that's the farthest she can keep it at cold enough temperatures to be damaging. Beyond the 20 ft the temp of her breath would feel like the wind on a cold winter day. Rainmaker's wind would effect the distance which the breath could be damaging, as well as the shape of the cone.

Hey, being an Epic means you've been forced to sign a contract stating that sometimes, things might get a little bloody. The contract does not specify whose blood, though And though I have zero knowledge of the Metal, I like the second one better, if my vote counts.
