  1. Szeth also killed the people because he was following orders he believed he had a religious obligation to follow. He was acting in accordance with an authority. That's the reason Nale picked him up in the first place.
  2. IIRC there was quite a lot of disagreement about what order he could be actually. Dustbringer was suggested but Windrunner was suggested as well. And I believe his being an Edgedancer was brought up after WoR but before we had confirmation that his blade was a cultivationspren (which we got via WoB before Oathbringer came out due to a very observant person.). We have a lot more information to go on then we did in the past. And a person can fit multiple orders but in almost all cases if one spren bonds somebody other spren won't want to share even if the person could fit into that order.
  3. Adolin's temperament is just totally at odds with the Skybreakers we've seen. He is, however, quite in line with what we know about Edgedancers. Regardless, if he does bond Maya he will be an Edgedancer.
  4. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I just don't feel that a spren can be changed fundamentally barring very powerful intervention like Sja-anat, and even in that case Glys is not that changed as he still basically grants the same Surges just in a modified form. A human definitely can't change a spren to that extent. And Adolin is definitely not a Skybreaker type.
  5. It's "Careful" in the chart in the book, so the Coppermind needs editing.
  6. I think Odium was directing Nergoaul pretty specifically at the people he wanted it aimed at during that battle.
  7. The divine attribute is "careful" which I think means "meticulous" or "prudent" rather than compassionate.
  8. yeah atium acts on the person burning it, by allowing them to see bits of the Spiritual Realm.
  9. yeah, we see a couple of highstorms while the group is in Shadesmar, they are much less dramatic there, just pretty colours, though the spren do draw energy from them like @equinox said.
  10. She didn't become a deadeye cause he just died is all. It was extremely traumatic for her because she was very young at the time, but an older more experienced spren would have come through it okay. Nothing special going on there. I suspect Syl's status will come up again and have social and political importance even if it doesn't have a tangible effect on the nahel bond.
  11. Edgedancer is a novella that is part of the Stormlight series, the one you're thinking about is Warbreaker, and yeah you should read it before Oathbringer, ideally. It explains some things about Szeth's new talking sword, and there's a few other characters from there in WoR and OB.
  12. Shards are not exactly spren, though Rosharians might call them that.
  13. The orders get coffee at Starbucks (or insert your favourite coffee shop here, it doesn't matter) Windrunners: Orders a very large coffee, the better to stay awake to protect people. Skybreakers: Whatever they order it has to be exactly the right size and contain exactly the right mixture of ingredients or they will complain to the manager. Dustbringers: Probably managed to break something and get kicked out. Edgedancers: Tips very generously, end up sharing half the coffee with a homeless guy. Except Lift who still tips very generously, but orders the most sugary drink available and chugs it. Truthwatcher: Orders coffee, and then sits in the corner. Knows everything about everyone in the store before they leave. Or something. Lightweaver: Tries to trick the employees to get free coffee. Elsecaller: Orders a black coffee, then just leaves. Willshaper: never orders exactly the same thing twice. Bondsmith: Tries to settle arguments between costumers and employees. Stoneward: Orders a coffee.Takes a really long time to drink the coffee.
  14. They don't actually, they only require them if the person using them thinks they do. Perception affects a lot of things in the Cosmere.
  15. the current rough draft of Hoid's early backstory is literally called the Liar of Partinel, so it's not like Hoid's never been associated with lying before....
  16. We only know that NW changed somebody's eye colour, not whether she darkened or lightened them. Could have gone either way, really a lighteyes could want to hide from their enemies or responsibilities badly enough that they didn't mind living as a commoner, or darkeyes could have wanted to increase their status. Or maybe the person or people in question didn't even ask her to change their eye colour, she just did it on her own. Even if it was intended as a blessing she doesn't always give the blessing asked for. And of course, it could always have been a curse.
  17. The survival shard might actually BE Wisdom. Also Ingenuity is a possible Shard.
  18. I think we have WoB (but can't find it right now) that Autonomy had some involvement with the deaths of Aona and Skai so it's not inconceivable that she/they might have been involved in the death of Honor as well.
  19. I doubt very much she is or was lighteyed herself, she's probably just the darkeyed child of a mixed relationship. The only non-Nightwacher related methods we know of changing one's eye colour is Lightweaving (which is unlikely) and those drops (which are likely expensive and hard to obtain in remote areas) and both are extremely temporary and would be hard to hide from your kid indefinitely.
  20. Kaladin, sometime in WoR: Trust Dalinar, Don't let hate blind you.
  21. We discussed this a little on Discord, and I pointed out that there are a lot of spren in Shadesmar that require translation because they DON'T speak Alethi. So I think spren do speak languages, and bonded spren pick up languages from their bondmates because of the Connection between them. So Syl actually does speak Alethi when talking to Kaladin and the others.
  22. I don't think a "reverse nahel bond" makes sense, but I absolutely agree with your on the revival of a dead spren being a huge game changer, especially since there are a lot o questions about the Recreance that a spren who was directly involved could answer. And I agree that Adolin reviving Maya and their relationship as it develops is an interesting line of character development, and it has been foreshadowed as early as WoR with his unique treatment of his Shardblade.
  23. She's been at this since around the time of Gavilar's death, so she's got everyone else beat on experience.
