  1. Maybe Urithiru is actually located in the mountains near the center of the map and is in the "eye of the storm" so to speak which would explain why the buildings weren't built in a way to protect from highstorms.
  2. I chalked up the blade feeling "wrong" to dalinar starting to become a surgebinder. After his 1st and 2nd oath, when he finally was able to consciously suck in stormlight, he said that he probably did this before.
  3. I could have sworn there was a WoB sayin that nightblood was "magnitudes" stronger than a shardblade, not just a "bit" stronger.
  4. Flashbacks will reveal every books focal character to have had a horrible life
  5. Feruchemical iron appears to ignore anything that would change with the altering mass other than weight. I don't really like it but it is what it is.
  6. I read stormlight archive before warbreaker and when I realized nightblood was the sword given to Szeth, my mind was blown and I had to reread WoR to figure out if vasher was there too. I completely missed the color metaphors, the game that lightsong played, and the voice in his head line the first time.
  7. I guess it would depend on whether the process used to clone someone duplicated their sDNA as well as their DNA. Two genetically identical people can be different due to which genes are actually expressed so that may or may not be the case depending on how spirit webs work.
  8. Well I assume there's a limit to how much mass you can store at once without hurting or killing yourself. Even if you make your mass 10% of normal, a wind runner can apply multiple lashings. I see your point however. I guess if a wind runner wanted to kill the feruchemist, he could just crush him with multiple lashings to the ground instead.
  9. Air resistance will slow you down either way but what does that really matter when you're falling into the deep blue sky? It's pretty negligible.
  10. Force (Newtons) = Mass (kg) * Acceleration (m/s2) Weight is the force on a person due to their mass and gravity. It is a vector and thus, has a direction as well. It follows the same formula as F=ma but can be written as W=mg where W is Weight and g is gravity. Windrunners are able to alter an existing gravitational force by manipulating the acceleration and choosing a different direction for the vector. On top of this, they can apply multiple lashings which would then result in more forces acting on the target. A feruchemist making himself heavier or leighter would not make much of a difference when lashed to the sky. You'll still fall into the sky regardless of how heavy or light you are. If he makes himself heavier, he'll just fall upwards with more force. If he makes himself lighter, he'll still fall upwards just with less force. The surgebinder is the one manipulating acceleration whereas manipulating mass just changes how strong or weak the force is In order to make any significant difference, the feruchemist would have to store his mass to 0kg causing the force applied to him to be 0 Newtons which would result in no movement from gravitational forces. I don't think it'd be possible to store literally all of your mass at one time in your metalminds.
  11. Oh so that was in reference to the glyph not the frost. My bad. I couldn't remember where or what exactly it was that I read.
  12. I think there was a WoB saying the frost from surge binding was due to compression of the three realms. Also allomancy can also be done by using mist requiring no metal at all so I guess there are ways to circumvent certain requirements of a magic system.
  13. Edit: Nevermind I get what you were saying but I feel like almost any power could cause strain or use some form of energy whether its thinking or doing whatever. Kaladin feels exhausted after using lots of stormlight, not sure I'd say energy is a fuel source for surgebinding but I guess it could technically be one.
  14. I don't know if I'd call spren a focus. I see focus as more of a catalyst of sorts. The gems for soul casting sure, but it wasn't needed when Lift was performing regrowth unless you are referring to that fabrial Nalan used on Szeth. Also, I didn't think any power was lost with Feruchemy. Example: You could get 4x speed for 10s or 2x speed for 20s. What you put in the metal mind is what you got back, only you could control if it was all at once or in smaller burst.
  15. Would be nice if there was clear cut definition of Investiture and what exactly determines End-Positive, Neutral, and Negative. I've heard some people say that End-Positive was that the investiture was from an outside source and some say that it was a net gain of power with no mention to whether you count investiture, fuel, or whatever. Here's my understanding of some of the magic systems and I could be off on some of this stuff. Surgebinding (manifestation of Investiture on Roshar) Investiture: Stormlight Prereq: Oathes/Actions End-Positive due to net gain of power versus loss of Stormlight? Allomancy (manifestation of Investiture on Scadrial) Investiture: sDNA-Connection to Preservation, Mist? Focus: Metal (or Mist) Prereq: Snapping End-Positive due to gaining power with no cost to investiture albeit at the cost of the metal Feruchemy (manifestation of Investiture on Scadrial) Investiture: sDNA-Connection to Preservation/Ruin Focus: Metal End-Neutral due to getting back exactly what you put into metalminds (no net gain or loss) Hemalurgy (manifestation of Investiture on Scadrial) Investiture: Connection to Ruin? Focus: Metal End-Negative due to net power loss from transferring the powers/abilities from one person to another Awakening (manifestation of Investiture on Nalthis) Investiture: Breath Focus: Mental Image, Vocal Command Fuel: Color End-Neutral due to no net gain or loss of Investiture, albeit at the cost of Color
  16. I read The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance, then decided I liked the books so much that I wanted to read his other novels. I read the Mistborn Trilogy and Alloy of Law. I noticed some small connections which made me recheck Words of Radiance and then needed another book so I picked up Warbreaker. After that book I realized some more connections from Stormlight Archive and those small connections really made me enjoy each book more. What order did you guys read the books and what order do you think is the best to read them in?
  17. If i recall correctly, the things they used to "sheathe" shardblades would change form and mold to the shardblade. So I don't think its simply aluminum but it could be involved or a part of it.
  18. I think that if Scadrial develops modern medicine, Allomancers and Feurochemist will donate powers like how we donate organs. You check a little box saying "I am a donor" and when you're lying in the hospital bed, the doctor's like "Damnit, we can't save him...get the spike ready."
  19. I recall kaladin binding a rock or something to the wall and then taking back the stormlight. That almost kinda maybe sounds like end neutral.
  20. I don't recall Helaran being a Skybreaker. Was that in the book or a WoB?
  21. Shallan and Jasnah read books. Dalinar tries to unite westeros. Hoid becomes hand of the king. Adolin duels people betting his shards against their land/loyalty. Kaladin gets thrown in prison and becomes depressed. Szeth runs around killing any character you might like.
  22. I imagine that if Szeth becomes a Skybreaker, he'd form a Nahel bond with Nightblood. If he does get a spren on top of Nightblood, it would be cool to see him dual wield Nightblood + Shardblade.
  23. Wait so I'm wrong based off the mechanics of a game? I've never played the mistborn game so I don't know the rules but I was just guessing based off of my understanding of what nicrosil does.
