  1. If the ones above we're under the influence of dominion, wouldn't they just conquer instead of waiting for their planet to be at a certain technology level to interact?
  2. Good point, maybe his followers will act in his behalf or maybe people will just genuinely be curious enough to warrant interest.
  3. All valid points. During a reread of Hero of Ages, that line from Ruin stood out to me and made me think of Sixth of the Dusk. I just wanted to throw my idea out there. I guess these are my attempts at refuting your points: A lot of time will have passed before they get to space travel and how the Northern or Southern Scandrians are as far as we know now, irrelevant. Just look at the changes of 341 years from Hero of Ages to Alloy of Law. Why would the Ones Above want Aviar? To utilize their powers if possible but more likely to research. Sazed was always fond of his studies but I'm sure any intelligent species would want to study what is unknown and foreign to them. A minor shardworld doesn't have a Shard on its planet but the affects can be felt from other planets nearby. Odium for example, isn't actually on Roshar if I recall correctly. Odium's power can definitely be felt in the form of Desolations and what not on Roshar though.
  4. I think its widely believed that the Ones Above are Scadrians after they reach space. I've always wondered if First of the Sun was maybe in the same solar system though. Survival seems like a theme in Sixth of the Dusk and I remember in Hero of Ages, Ruin says something along the lines of "What did they call him? Survivor? A word of Preservation." So what If First of the Sun is just a minor shardworld that can feel some influence of Preservation's power. And since there's a lot killing and death on those islands, maybe even Ruin's. Also, a lot of the magic or powers in Sixth of the Dusk seem somewhat similar to the powers on Scadrial. The animals that can sense minds, the Aviar that can hide the thoughts from said animals, and the Aviar that can show the future kinda.
  5. The first theory about the unmade sounds a lot like the returned and awakening from warbreaker. Consuming human souls to fuel their powers, making slaves, feeding off investiture to maintain their existence.
  6. Or it's time magic that allowed him to play at supernatural speed!
  7. Vins always had her earring right? Didn't the mist swirl around her in book one?
  8. Also if he awakened something, he'd have to say the command clearly in his native tongue which probably isn't Alethi.
  9. I believe in The Emperor's Soul, Shai mentions something about how a table eventually identified itself as a table, instead of multiple pieces of wood put together, over time. I believe it would be the same in the case of an army. It would take time before it had a single cognitive identity. Although in the case of people, the identity of self may make that moot.
  10. If you changed the molecular structure to make it more resilient to natural decay in the human body, it wouldn't even be the same thing anymore which would most likely interfere with the metallic art. To make a super tiny hemalurgic spike work, there would have to be "magic" involved to break the rules beyond that which it already breaks.
  11. In regards to my previous post, I wasn't really talking about how metal or invested metal may work but rather how the human body works in real life. Of course invested metal and anything involving magic can change the rules so to speak. Assuming their bodies work like ours, they will over time degrade any metal in them trying to rid the body of anything foreign.
  12. If the Nahel bond is responsible for Kal being a great fighter, maybe some of that ability goes to the squires of a radiant. I remember Kal was surprised at how good bridge 4 was with formations and the spear. He even says something like "they were better than they had any right to be" or something.
  13. The body will see the metal as foreign and will try to dissolve and get rid of it. If its small enough, the body might just break it down and you could get pieces of metal into the bloodstream and get metal poisoning.
  14. I believe he is referring to their "life force" which is not a breath, not investiture in general.
  15. Oh I always thought Szeth got his blade from the stone shamans.
  16. I was thinking of Taln's blade since the shardblade retrieved was a regular one and of the blade retrieved by the Herald. Taln's blade wouldn't fit timewise with Zahel arriving on Roshar and the blade retrieved by the Herald is probably in possession by Nin but who knows. Didn't the Parshendi have a blade they left in Alethkar? Which blade was this?
  17. Where does it say that he was lying? Either which way, there is at least one honor blade unaccounted for.
  18. One of the honor blades is missing from Shinovar right? Maybe zahel is in possession of the honor blades and is how he breathes in stormlight.
  19. I believe Syl even mentions this in book to Kal.
  20. Yeah I've seen it say that on his page for a while now. I guess I'll just settle for a hardcover of Legion and The Emperor's Soul
  21. without paying like 100 dollars. It's the last cosmere book I want to buy but I want a hardcover copy and they're all ridiculously expensive.
  22. Oh so it was through Ruin's manipulation that led them to the metal then. I can't believe I never read that before.
  23. I remember reading that Sazed never found out where Kelsier discovered the legend of the 11th metal. Was this part of Ruin's scheme of changing text so that they could get a hint as to how to defeat the Lord Ruler?
  24. Hoid strikes me as the type of person to hide truths in otherwise easily dismissible comments.
