  1. I got the impression the priest became more urgent for her to get pregnant sometime after her arrival. I guess it could be viewed both ways. Thanks for everyone's thoughts on this.
  2. Was this baby the returned baby the priest planned on making the new god king?
  3. Again? I must have missed it the first time. My mistake.
  4. Alright I stand corrected. Other arguments can be made that it wasn't awakening but I'll concede. Thanks for pointing this out.
  5. This was pretty much my understanding of metaphors and similes.
  6. Yeah I was thinking he might have just been evil to begin with. Also I find it funny that my post was censored to cremhole. I was never sure on what was allowed or not but I do like the censorship in this case.
  7. Something about the weaknesses, fears, and overcoming to be sane still bug me. Fortuity's weakness was being attracted to a woman so that was his biggest fear? He is portrayed as a womanizer in Steelheart but he's still "evil". I guess he could have just normally have been an cremhole before calamity...
  8. I assumed that regalia knew obliterations weakness seeing as how they operated on him. His powers automatically teleport him when in danger and I assume that a scalpel under surgery would trigger this unless they used his weakness.
  9. I think he meant that any female kandra, who is not yet named, could have taken the form of some character in one of the books. That would meet the requirements of having seen this kandra before. It doesn't necessarily mean its MeLaan.
  10. All of the shards are actually abstract nouns. Abstract nouns pretty much represent an ideal. Some abstract nouns can be formed by taking an adjective or verb and adding a proper suffix to the end of it like -ion. For example, preserve (verb) becomes preservation (noun). Now some shards don't fit this pattern like Ruin. Ruin can be both a verb and a noun. When its used as a noun though, it is an abstract noun. Logic is an abstract noun just like Honor is. It might not sound as "good" as the other names of intents but the only common thing among all the shards is that they are all abstract nouns.
  11. I rescind my previous statements and now agree with this guy.
  12. This is really just nitpicking but adhesion doesn't have to be a chemical bond. The force that sticks a drop of water to the side of a glass is an adhesive force.
  13. Tension and surface tension are two different things. While the surge could be related to surface tension, i find it unlikely as surface tension is more about the net effect of adhesion and cohesion which are two other surges. Division probably has to do with the breaking of bonds which could result in chemical reactions in a solution or actually changing a chemical entirely.. Or maybe it'll just be used to break stuff. Also, an interesting thing about friction is that it is a force acting in the opposite direction of whatever item is sliding across the surface of another item. It'd be interesting to see the surge be used to increase the frictional force rather than lowering it to glide on the floor.
  14. Vasher uses Stormlight to sustain himself on Roshar. This was more or less a joke though.
  15. And that is that Sureblood is a Returned horse. Sureblood is a very Returned-esque name. Rhyshadium are bigger than normal horses and so are returned are bigger than normal men. It all makes sense now right?! Right?....
  16. I always thought it was both a name and the intent. Kind of like how preservation was referred to and called Preservation in the kandra/Terris religion.
  17. You know, I always felt like Preservation and Ruin should be Equilibrium. I suppose Harmony fits better as an "intent" but equilibrium seems like a better fit in my opinion.
  18. There is a physical reference for how much a kilogram weighs. I'm sure they could make a physical reference for measuring stormlight in the form of a sphere.
  19. What other practical way is there to measure stormlight in world?
  20. It makes sense to measure by spheres IMO. Yes, it's not entirely accurate, but neither is breath. The innate breath from every single person from nalthais is not exactly the same. The heightenings are just rough estimations of how much breath it would take.
  21. Darwinism is about natural selection and passing on traits to the next generation to help survive and reproduce. To me, the passing of traits to the next generation seems like Cultivation and the favorable traits being those that help to survive seems like Preservation. Since Harmony is Ruin and Preservation, that could work since I guess there would be killing involved in surviving. Of course there is no right answer. This is merely my opinion.
  22. I think Darwinism is closer to Cultivation + Preservation
  23. Honor + Devotion = Reverence Dominion + Ruin = Conquest Endowment + Devotion = Diligence Devotion + Dominion = Lannister Ambition Endowment + Cultivation = Generosity?
  24. By that logic, we wouldn't have much to discuss about anything. My main point however was that I think First of the Sun is in the same solar system as Scadrial
  25. There's a WoB that says its the most "future" of the books or something. Pretty much, it's currently the latest one chronologically.
