Long Game 14: To Shatter a Shard
little wilson replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
43 PMs for me. But I don't delete PMs. I just file them away in my folder for that game. Keeps my inbox clear and I don't lose conversations. Also, I guarantee Joe can top 27. Joe probably has over 100. Most of which is my fault.- 1225 replies

Long Game 14: To Shatter a Shard
little wilson replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
It's fine, Maill. I didn't realize until the game ended and you apologized before even seeing the docs that you were still playing the Survival strategy you started with. I thought you were legitimately just being a jerk, simply because you could. But you were simply continuing with that playstyle, and I know the feeling of getting trapped with a playstyle you're not particularly proud of or fond of, but you must continue until death or the end. So you're forgiven. And 612 mentions of Wilson in that doc. About 150 are in the PMs at the end, so that's really only 450 in doc mentions, but still. That's.....a lot. Hmph. It should be noted that this code of ethics went away the second Joe said that he'd built this game for Shard-passing. Once I knew that, there was no loophole so I wasn't exploiting anything, and I could act to my little heart's content. But geez, Alv. That comment. Wow. I think I might move you up to Holy Batman, Hael. And Alv, I did listen. I was saying the same things (particularly about waiting for him to be evil). Just because I don't have him on the KoS tier doesn't mean I'm not watching him very closely. It just means that I'm letting him work his natural way up the list. Nothing wrong with that. Also....wow. You guys really wanted me dead.- 1225 replies

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry
little wilson replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Kyza will also, unfortunately, have to withdraw. I've got some real life things I've got to deal with and focus on for a good portion of the start of this game (got in an accident yesterday and even though it's not my fault, insurance companies kind of suck), and it's best if I'm not distracted by the game. Or inactive because of #life. Sorry!- 755 replies

Heirs to the Final Empire: Roleplaying Thread
little wilson replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Inactive RPs
I'd RP, but I really just don't have the energy right now. Action 2 Who: Tamsa and Ohwen Wilson, as a married couple What: Trying for an heir Where: Why? You have voyeuristic tendencies? Why: To hopefully gain another child so they can form more alliances with other Houses Male: Whyan If I don't provide a female name, would that mean I'd automatically get a male? Does it work like that? Why are you frowning at me, Wyrm? It's a simple question.... Oh, fine. Female: Mayryl. Happy? I just want a son. Is that so much to ask?- 868 replies

I got rear-ended today. I dropped one of my friends off after work (we carpool since we work near each other), and was going to the store right down the road to get milk. And I got rear-ended. My car is mostly fine, though there's a nice dent on the bumper on the passenger side (he tried to swerve to avoid me but was too close), so that's good. I wasn't terribly worried, because I figured "I have insurance, and I didn't cause the accident, and he has insurance, and everything will be fine." I called my insurance, because even though it's after-hours, my insurance has 24/7 claim service. They let me know that I'd have to pay the deductible if I wanted repairs done under my own policy. I'd already talked to my dad, and he told me not to let my insurance do that, since I'm not at fault. They told me to file the claim with the other driver's insurance. So I called them. Turns out they're located in Chicago, and even though they say you can file a claim at this number, they don't have after-hours service, and they also say that you have to report a claim within 48 hours of it happening, yet because they don't have after-hours service and their office is only open Monday-Friday, I can't report until Monday morning. Over 48 hours later. And now I'm worried that maybe they won't cover it so I'll have to pay for the damages and I really don't want to even if I can afford it. So now I'm getting stupidly emotional and just want to curl up in a ball on my bed and cry. Even though that won't fix a thing. Ugh. And this day was going so well.

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry
little wilson replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Winter, I was the leader of that group, which was the reason I told you there was no way a Trust Coalition would spring up a la LG10. Not only was the game not built for the same type of Trust Group, but I was involved in a leadership way and I wouldn't let it happen. People can call the group a Trust Coalition, but the fact is that I distrusted Kipper and Seonid multiple times throughout the game. Shallan as well, when she eventually joined. It was not the same as LG10, where everyone could trust each completely and forced everyone to obey. So long as I was at the helm, information dispersed as was needed (and if anyone asked me anything, I explained to the best of my ability) and no one was forced to do anything. Did I ask? Yes. But anyone could've declined and I wouldn't have judged them poorly for it.- 755 replies

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry
little wilson replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
That was for a bet made with Kipper that Alv saw through because he was the only one still alive who knew of the bet (though it wasn't made with him). Not for any revenge kills. I know he's using Meta's heart and Claincy's blood, but those were both deals made specifically with him. (And if he tries to claim that hand for his golem, he's going to encounter some serious trouble from Original Wilson....)- 755 replies

Mid-Range Game 9: The Steel Ministry

Some people hold grudges for a long time, Wyrm. Especially in this game. After all, he's still trying to kill me for LG2. That was almost 2 years ago. Oh, Alv, question: If you're looking for Hael's head, and Wyrm's brains for your golem, and those all revenge items (I'm assuming), what am I providing?- 755 replies

Heirs to the Final Empire: Roleplaying Thread
little wilson replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Inactive RPs
Tamsa Wilson read over the public missive, making sure it said everything she needed it to say. She'd been working on it all night, and she was exhausted. Changing a few words, she signed her name at the bottom and then waited for the ink to dry. She hid a yawn and shook her head to wake herself up. She couldn’t sleep yet. There was still more to do. She'd been ecstatic when the Canton of Hegemony had granted her stewardship, but that was merely the beginning. The next step was informing the other Houses. It was one thing for them to know she was the Steward of Arranging Marriages. It was an entirely different thing for them to understand what that entailed. Her services could benefit all the nobles. Every House. The entire Final Empire. At least, that was what she believed. She knew she was a romantic at heart, an idealist and dreamer, but that didn’t mean she was wrong. The missive would help the other Houses understand and her peers were bound to ask for her help. She checked the paper, making sure the ink was dry, and then called her manservant, Haral, in. “Take this to the scribe and have him make copies for all the Houses. I need one delivered to each House before the end of the day.” He nodded, taking the missive and leaving. Tamsa watched him leave and then sat back down. Her mother had advanced the House in ways that Tamsa was only barely starting to understand, and she wanted to do the same while it was under her rule. That meant taking risks. She only hoped this was a risk that would pay off. My fellow Lords and Ladies, As you all know, I have recently been appointed to the Stewardship of Arranging Marriages. What this stewardship means is that I am here to arrange your heirs’ nuptials. If you don’t want to worry about the stress of arranging a marriage for your heir to a fellow noble Great House, I will arrange it for you, and all you need to do is accept the match. (Meaning, I will spend one of my own actions to arrange the marriage, and the next turn, Wyrm will inform you, and you can accept it without using an action.) My marriage contracts will involved a fee to both Houses involved in the contract, paid to me. If the two Houses would like, a dowry paid by the House gaining the heir can be arranged as well. (My cost is the Standard Action Cost (4 wealth currently) + 1 wealth for an inbreed check to make sure no one inbreeds (since inbreeding incurs a penalty for the next generation). Both Houses pay this fee. The House the heir is marrying into can also arrange to pay the other House for their heir. All of these terms will be set up by me in my action to Wyrm, requiring no action cost by either House) However, I am only able to work with Houses who have agreed to my terms, which means the Houses wishing to use my services in the future will need to sign a contract, agreeing to the above. (Using my services costs one action to agree to my terms--the fee and lack of action in accepting future contracts--and from then on out, my services are available. One action now to save at least one action every generation going forward.) I’d like to note that as I can only arrange marriages with Houses who’ve signed to my terms, if you come to me without first talking to another House prior, I will be limited in the marriage I can arrange for your heir, though I will try to find a match for them. Therefore, it’s prefered that two Houses with an understanding come to me for arranging the marriage. (It’s easier for me to arrange the marriage of two Houses who already know they want to marry than to try to find someone, though if a House has an heir they wish to marry to another Great House but don’t know who, I will try to find someone, but I will need time and resources/knowledge (dowry amount, House AS, allomancy level of the heir, etc) to have any chance of success, and even then, it’s not guaranteed). Preference will be given to Houses who contact me first, since I have a limited time frame to arrange marriages. (Since you have to have time to accept the marriage (which cuts out Turn 4) and we need the names of the heirs (which we don’t have Turn 1), this only leaves Turns 2 and 3 available for me to make marriages. That leaves only 6 actions maximum. Fortunately, I can make dual marriages contracts in one action, but these 6 actions will be given first come, first served. When these turns start getting booked up, I will give also give preference to Houses that haven’t used my services that generation (or in recent generations.)) Thank you for your time and I look forward to doing business with you. Lady Tamsa Wilson Most of the necessary information is above, but if you have any further questions about the stewardship, just ask me. And for my action:- 868 replies

Shadows of Self: BYU midnight signing
little wilson replied to Lightning's topic in Events and Signings
I think some of the reports are just being posted elsewhere. I put one of mine in the main tour thread here. The other is in the Elantris spoilers thread here. Seonid put his on the Cosmere Theories board here. Those are the only ones I've come across so far, but I know there are others. -

So tonight at the midnight release, I purchased both Shadows and the 10th Anniversary Edition of Elantris there and got him to personalize both, answering questions. Elantris' is a spoiler for that edition, so I'm not going to put that here. Since I couldn't think of a good Scadrial question to ask with Shadows, I asked a Nalthis question instead: "Is Endowment male or female?" since we didn't have firm confirmation on that, though I think everyone figured Endowment was female. So that's finally canon.

Who is going to be at the midnight release?
little wilson replied to Peng the Just's topic in Events and Signings
I'm not exactly from out of town, Eric. Unless south Provo has suddenly been transported elsewhere. -

After 7, all parking should be open to everyone. -
I agree fully with that first point. I'd also recommend that an eliminator puppet master is unable to comment in the eliminator doc after they die, though they can still view it. The second point...I agree that the pinch hitter system got somewhat abused, but that wasn't really a fault of the system. It was more a fault of the execution of the system. Instead of being strictly for players who are inactive, it turned into a back up for anyone who could go inactive, so active players jumped on it for that purpose, not even attempting to maintain activity during a time that they wouldn't have been able to keep up with the game as well. They just turned it all over to the pinch hitter. If we explained it better and made it so only inactives could use it, we would have less of this problem, I think. Because people would know that their team would lose their ability for a few cycles before a pinch hitter picked it up, and they'd try to maintain a minimal level of activity until they can play fully again. Generally, I agree with this, but even that can't stop inactivity. Claincy's game had 2 inactives in it and one of those was the Seeker (not that I'm complaining that the Seeker went inactive. That game was horribly broken and an active Seeker simply would've made it even more impossible for team evil to even have a chance). From what I've seen, the smaller the game, the more the activity. LG9 had one inactive but all the other players were pretty active. That game is also the smallest LG we've had. It was also role madness and everyone could search the room to possibly find useful items (or less useful items, like a dead mouse). But I think it was the size that helped the activity. Or maybe it was that it was the first Reckoners game. Not sure. There are four main reasons people go inactive. Three of them, we cannot affect to any degree whatsoever. Real life getting busy, forgetting about the game, and not getting the role/alignment desired. The only one we can affect is people getting bored with the game as it drags on, and the only way we can affect that is limiting the sizes of the games. Player sizes. I like the big games, personally. 26-30 players is a lot to keep track of, but gosh, it's fun. Those games also have inactives. Always. And the inactive list only grows as the game goes on. We can reduce the sizes of the games to prevent that from happening. Or we can leave it and keep the big games. But leaving it means we have to accept that inactives are going to happen. That's just a fact. That fact doesn't mean we have to lose the roles though. It just means we have to clearly explain the uses of those inactivity filters/mechanics so they can't be abused.

Ah. That explains why you were really in support of helping the PK in LG 4 when it was 1 against 16. I see. Or in LG 13 when it was 1 against 12. This is 1 against 6 (since Seonid and you are neutral). Most games have between 4-6 survivors with some games falling slightly under that and some slightly over with a handful above 10. This is nearing the average mark. So...what's the problem with balance? I'd say it's fine. Nothing as bad as some games have been.- 1225 replies

Long Game 14: To Shatter a Shard
little wilson replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Your comment about balance indicates that the game itself has balance issues, which it doesn't. At least, not the way you're thinking. I got incredibly lucky, but I guarantee that if I hadn't gotten that lucky, the village would be screwed right now. If Alv and Hael hadn't been caught so fast, they would've used Dominion to create all sorts of havoc that would've made it almost impossible for the village to win. So the balance? It's fine. If anything, it was balanced slightly in favor of the eliminators, but only slightly. Don't mistake luck for balance issues because they are two very, very different things.- 1225 replies
