Yep. That's what it feels like. I thought I was going to be forever alone in my brilliance until my brother (the INTP one) texted me about MBTI. Now I realize that there are a whole bunch of people who are pretty much just as smart as me and wonder why the world isn't way awesomer than it is because of it. (I don't feel bad pretending to be arrogant when I'm talking about the actual concept of INTJ-ness because, again, we have a huge reputation for arrogance)
-
Anyway, Kobold, if you're trying to judge whether or not you're INTJ, the big "points" of INTJ-ness are as follows: -You're smart. Period. -You set really high standards for people, but honestly only try to hold yourself to them. -You're always having kickchull ideas to explain patterns of behavior or improve society, but whenever you try to tell it to other people you realize that you've done a bad job explaining it and they're skeptical of it despite how intuitively obvious it is (Story of my life) -You value rationality and try to see everything objectively. Sentiment has absolutely no value to you (unless it has to do with works of fiction, where the suspension of disbelief can allow you to attach emotional opinions to things) -You pretend that you don't want to be in charge when you're in a group, but you actually secretly do because you know that things would turn out better if you did -You really only respect people who have strong, rational, opinions about things. -You want everything to be clear and efficient, and you're constantly having ideas to make things better -You're really cynical about ads. Really cynical, because you mostly look at the intention behind it instead of the actual ad. -You try to be very honest with people. -You do have feelings but try your best to ignore them. You mostly ignore other peoples' feelings, too. And last but not least... -People think that your normal face looks like you're scowling at them. This is called the "Death Glare" phenomenon and is almost universal among INTJ's although I have no idea why. I'm not angry all the time. I'm usually not, in fact. Why the heck do people always think so?
-
Band nerds, huh? I think there's kind of a tendency for people to assume that they're one of the two if they're bad with people. INTJ's are notoriously apathetic towards other peoples' feelings (it's not my fault that they're needy and illogical!)
-
Where do you know them from? Chess Club?
-
On this forum? Apparently. On average they're pretty rare, though. INTJ and INTP are estimated at 2.1% and 3.3%, respectively
-
Don't you dare say that. INTJ technically has the highest average IQ of all 16 types. It's something I like to tease my brother about. (INTP is the second-highest, much to his chagrin, I think.) INTJ and INTP are pretty similar in most ways, though. I think they're probably the closest two personality types
-
The tests aren't super-accurate. It's probably best to just self-diagnose: E vs I: If you gain energy from spending time around other people, you're E. If you lose energy from spending time around other people, you're I. This is a no-brainer to me. S vs N: Sensing means that you rely more on concrete facts than theoretical possibilities to assess a situation. iNtuition is vice-versa. This one is sort of hard to figure out. The big question here is whether you spend a lot of time thinking about things or learning about them when you're interested in them... maybe? F vs T: Emotions. Do you "work through" your emotions (F) or think through them (T)? Are you logical, rational, and objective or do you make decisions based on feelings and sentiment? J vs P: Judging vs Percieving. This one is also sort of confusing. The question here is whether you acquire information to create judgements or actions, or just for the sake of getting the information. For example: My older brother is a pretty strong INTP (as opposed to me, a very strong INTJ.) He wants to get a degree in IT because he wants to know a whole bunch of programming languages and have a versatile knowledge set, while I want to get a degree in Computer Science because I want to master just two languages in order to program some ideas I've had into a game. J's set a lot of goals. If they start exercising, for example, they'll probably create a long-term plan for it on Day One (even if they don't end up following through.) P's don't do that so much. Once you find the right personality, it should be like looking through a mirror. The modes of thinking tend to create patterns of behavior and relationships that are really accurate most of the time. That being said, it's important to remember that MBTI is more of a tool to help you understand yourself better (and, ultimately, make you better) instead of a concrete set of traits that will always define you
-
Except that INTJ's absolutely do believe in things. That's what the Judging means. We want to have concrete answers, we're just always searching for a more objective way see them. As for Kaladin: Definitely an IN, yes, but I'm going to argue that he's an INxJ instead of an INxP because he does actually have a strong drive towards order and efficiency. He values structure because it makes things work better (this is mentioned multiple times in WoR.) The thing is that he's found a pattern he sees consistently that he's turned into a larger conclusion: that the Lighteyes/Darkeyes system is corrupt. His ability to see things objectively has led him to reject it. So between INTJ and INFJ... Well, he's definitely not an INFJ. INFJ's are kind of the opposite of INTJ in some ways because they genuinely care about peoples' emotions and put a lot of time into figuring out people (as opposed to spending their time thinking about systems and patterns of behavior.) They're sort of nurterers in that way.

I don't have a manipulative, plotting, grandmaster mentality either, but that doesn't mean I'm not INTJ. That being said, INTJ's are usually pretty assertive when someone brings up something they actually care about, and Renarin is not really very assertive at all.

Which is why I think of him as an INTJ rather than an ENTJ. Looking at it on PersonalityPage, ENTJ might fit him somewhat better than INTJ, but I think that Kaladin genuinely prefers being alone. Spending time with his men is viewed as a sort of chore that he does to keep their morale up.

Pfft. When you're INTJ most people on the internet think you're an arrogant slontze for it. Sometimes in Real Life, too. It doesn't matter if I am sometimes.
-
INTJ buddies! What are the odds? Coincidentally, I think Kaladin is mostly an INTJ, so we're in good company. EDIT: Calculated the odds: 0.021 x 0.021 = 0.0411%

Crush strode confidently through the city, heading in the direction of the gunshot. Vanillas were openly staring at him through doors and windows, which prompted him to put on his game face: a reckless grin with a touch of condescending superiority. He was glad for the attention, though he hadn't been expecting people to give it to him so soon. Vanillas in most towns would high-tail it if they saw an unknown Epic walking down their street. He shot a finger-gun at a convenience store operator sweeping up before closing time, which caused the man to look at him oddly. Perhaps it was the sunglasses. They made it sparking hard to see at night, sure, but it was better than letting people... well, suffice to say, he'd draw a lot more stares if he took them off right now than if he left them on. Crush ducked into an alleyway and emerged onto another street. Looking down it, he could just make out a black-clad man banging his head against a metal lamppost. Well, now we're getting somewhere. He rearranged his face, trying to make himself appear casual, and ambled over. The man was now leaning against his post as if he didn't have a care in the world, though Crush noted that he was handcuffed to it. Crush decided to call him Convict. Convict lazily raised his free hand and called out across the street. "Yeesh. What the sparks happened to you?" Crush stopped, confused, and it took him a moment to register that the comment was directed at him. A little voice in his head answered the man of its own volition. Calamity happened to me. He ignored it. Convict was still standing there as if he owned the entire street. Adopted it? He yelled at Crush again. "You know there are easier ways to repel women, my friend. And if you're the kind of guy who thinks that's an intimidating way to dress, you're probably a natural at it already." Crush raised an eyebrow. He was being insulted. He tried to muster up an ounce of anger or disdain, but it just didn't come. The length and brutality of his rending had taken away his ability to feel strong emotions. They were just gone. So he just stood there awkwardly as Convict continued yelling slurs at him. Comments about his odd fashion sense or inability to get girls and other things he didn't give an orange-tinged whoop about. Crush sighed. I think it's time to put an end to this. He took a deep breath, flashed a million-dollar smile, and strolled towards the man. He thought he caught a flash of victory in Convict's eyes before it was covered up with a smug, knowing, look. Crush held out his hand to him. "I'm an Epic," He stated flatly. Convict opened his mouth to retort to that, but Crush stopped him. "I'm guessing you're an Epic, too. One who's chained to a lamp post and has apparently been left for dead. Now, I don't know who the Epic who rules this city is, but I want to meet him." He paused. "Or her, and I'm guessing you know how to get me in on that sort of action." There was a squeal of tires further down the street. Crush observed what looked to be a Military Transport Vehicle heading down the road in their direction. He turned back to his new acquaintance "I'm perfectly willing to help you, Convict. In fact, I'll free you right now. Just make sure to thank me later." Convict panicked for a second, but it was too late. Crush summoned a blade of orange light and sliced clean through the man's handcuffs.

That could get dangerous. Would the tiny Steelhearts be able to bypass normal Steelheart's defenses due to the fact that they didn't fear him? ... And what if Steelheart got jealous?

Long Game 12: Shadows of Elantris
Mckeedee123 replied to Herowannabe's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yeah, I guess that makes me a kind of a hypocrite for voting for Spencer, huh? I was feeling pretty arrogant at the beginning of the game, but that ended when 3 successive people died partially due to my interference and all turned out to be a villagers (I'm feeling pretty bad about Maill, especially, because it was basically me that got Wilson turned on to him and got him lynched.) I used to have a Seon, but I gave it away on Night 3 because I didn't feel as if I could accomplish anything with it. Overall, I've basically just turned back into the wishy-washy guy I usually am in Sanderson Elimination, and I don't even really have RP to back me up. Plus, Wilson and Meta kind of suspect me for various reasons (none of which I can really counter, so I'm electing to ignore them.)- 1221 replies

Seems like an interesting match for Mouldbreaker, actually Cause, you know, he would have all of that metal and then it would just turn into an un-manipulatable Gelatin dessert product.

Salem is currently the Reckoners RPG's equivalent of the French Foreign Legion: We turn no character(s) down. Write your heart out, buddy.

Who knows? I was just making a suggestion, so there's no need to make this a thing, Epic.

This guy is surprisingly OK. He's not city-ruling material, but it'd probably be fine to introduce him to Salem as a new Epic (The Dalles is getting a little Epic-crowded)

Shame. What I was thinking was maybe that he could reform at any one of the droplets created by his splatter. This would give him three main abilities by de facto: Imperveability: At the first sign of danger (gunshot, etc.) Puddle could form into a puddle for a fraction of a second, then reform, allowing bullets or shrapnel to pass through the puddley form of his body without doing damage. Short-range teleportation: Puddle could jump up into the air and then puddle himself, which would create a large spatter of water when he hit the ground that would probably extend about 20 feet in any direction. He could reform at any of these droplets, disorienting enemies. Immunity to fall damage: Puddle could fall from literally any height and simply puddle himself just before he hit, creating a huge spatter and giving him an almost limitless range of droplets to choose to reform from _______________________ What would make him even more powerful is if he took his weapons with him into puddle form...

Have you read any of the threads? (I'm guessing not.) You might want to introduce this one in the new, possibly-upcoming low-level Epics city. How and where can he reform? (This could potentially be a pretty useful power, actually.)

Pugs? Never! I can assure you, Twilyght, no character of mine would dare to harm a pug no matter what the circumstances! (Well, except Outlaw, maybe. He's not really a fan of small dogs.)
