  1. Yup, that's the basic idea. Any suggestions to make it run more efficiently?
  2. I've been working on my Izzet deck, and I think I've made some significant improvements, but it's not quite there. Any suggestions on how to better maximize this list for a fairly competitive environment? http://www.mtgvault.com/lindel1324/decks/izzet-wip/
  3. It's not very pleasant contemplating what would happen if either stopped working... Work is like cotton candy.
  4. I slipped on invisible ice on the way to the parking lot today and smacked my elbow. Now it feels sore all the way up in my wrist, which never even hit the ground. My bad day is turning into a bad week...
  5. I originally intended him to be played by one actor, and that's how it was done when performed in class, so that's how I picture it.
  6. For the final project in a Drama class I took last year, we were assigned to write and produce a ten minute play for our class. I was pretty happy with the results, and for a while I've been meaning to come back to it, to see what needs to be fixed and what I can improve, and to figure out where exactly where I'm going with it. I just feel like I'm not done with it yet. It's not super intense or dramatic or anything; It's a pretty simple little story, nothing big, but I kinda like it. I've been wanting to put it out for critiques, and I thought, "Sharders are great. Why don't I see what they think?" Constructive criticism, tips, and suggestions are welcome. This is the first thing I've actually written, so your advice would be much appreciated. The script is fairly open-ended to interpretation, so descriptions are pretty minimal. You, as the reader, feel free to fill in the gaps and decide for yourself how everything unfolds onstage. But y'all are avid readers, I don't need to tell you that! Now, without further ado:
  7. True. I just wish they'd realize that it's not actually nice when they try so hard not to offend us by openly expressing their lack of interest. Maybe it's just cause some of us guys are just a bit slow at reading the signals, but it seems much kinder to everyone involved to simply make it clear to begin with, so we can feel bad and move on, rather than trying to be subtle and polite, which ends up leaving us to wonder and second guess ourselves until we finally figure it out and then give up... [/mini rant] I'm tired, I should probably sleep. EDIT: Fixed some phrasing and stuff. ANOTHER EDIT: Heh... I guess girls get frustrated with us for being completely oblivious and not taking a hint, so I suppose the confusion is mutual.
  8. Guys, why do girls have to be so storming confusing?
  9. It's crunchy on the outside, squishy on the inside, and usually tastes about as good as it smells... Life is like a box of chocolates.
  10. They both blow a lot of steam and act like they're accomplishing something, but when it comes down to it, they just enjoy watching people punch and stab each other. EDIT: They just like watching people get hurt. This game is like ordering fast food.
  11. Ah, storm it! I was really hoping to pop in here and post something clever, but I looked and I have no idea what the last statement I should be working with is. I guess I'll just go sleep. It's late, and I gotta get up in the morning... As do we all, unfortunately. Oh, I got one now. Make what you will of it: Sleep is like a warm drink on a frigid night.
  12. I like that a lot, actually. I did kinda like the term Potential to refer to the pool of stored up energy, but I can think of something else. Thanks for all the help!
  13. Okay, that's really helpful. Now I get why "storing" that potential energy would make little sense, as it's unclear what that would even mean. Just by being located above the surface of the earth, an object has a certain amount of potential energy, and it wouldn't make sense for that energy to simply go away if someone were to "drain" it, since the object would still be at the same height and therefore the same level of potential energy. The kind of thing I want to be able to accomplish with the magic as far as kinetic energy goes is things like jumping out of an dropship and storing a bunch of Potential during the fall to land without any injury, then later using that Potential to send enemies flying across the battlefield. Store up enough and you could start doing cool stuff like ripping up the ground and creating localized earthquakes. That's the idea. Is there any way to make the physics behind that at least slightly believable?
  14. Thanks for replying, Oversleep! Feruchemy was definitely one of my first thoughts as well, but I don't think the idea of storing up a pool of magical energy and drawing on it to perform said magic is hardly a unique concept, though it is admittedly a more central concept in Feruchemy. As for Sympathy, I have yet to read Kingkiller Chronicles, so I can't speak to any similarities there. As I said, my grasp on physics is dubious (read: nonexistent) at best. I've tried researching this, but I was unable to decipher those who were answering my questions, and the "For Dummies" explanations never fully address my questions. So where is the energy coming from if I drop the ball? If I drop it, it gains a bunch of kinetic energy, since its now moving in a new direction at a high speed. But if I don't drop the ball, there's no extra kinetic energy. So where is all that energy actually coming from?
  15. A magic system idea that's been on my mind lately is something involving "storing" different forms of potential energy in yourself or objects and drawing upon that Potential later. The idea being that there are uses both for the act of storing up fuel and the release of said fuel. Yet I once again find myself hopelessly inept in the physics department. If I were to hold a bowling ball out a high window, store all that potential energy, and continued to store that as I let go of the ball, what would happen? Would it remain fixed in place? That's what I'd like it to do, but I'm not sure I understand the physics correctly. Normally we think of working against gravity as requiring work, but if the potential energy is being removed before it has a chance to convert to kinetic, then there wouldn't be anything to make the ball fall, right? Although, come to think of it, I think I missed something rather obvious. If there's no energy whatsoever that's actively causing it to fall toward the planet, it'd shoot off into space, I suppose. You could at leats slow down the rate at which something falls, correct? Someone help me before I hurt myself...
  16. Hmm... I could see it. He does have a great voice, although he may sound a bit too old to play Ruin. I always pictured him sounding younger than that, pretty sure it was based on descriptions of the voice in the text, but that doesn't necessarily rule him out. I could see Cumberbatch as Ruin, actually, cause he also has a really epic voice, in the most literal sense of the word.
  17. So until the end of Book 5 he'll be dead, but after that he'll undie? Or perhaps you meant his death scene would start in Book 3 and last all the way through until the end of Book 5?
  18. Ah, I suppose I have heard that before. What does that make Siri, if she temporarily turns her hair red?
  19. Good to get confirmation on that, nice work!
  20. As in people with red hair? ...In what way would hair color make a difference? Nightblood would consume their soul, just like anyone else.
  21. My mom has yellow eyes...though, come to think of it, I'm not sure she's entirely human.
  22. I could see this, though I've always been partial to Jason Isaac for Staff. The man just looks so... evil. On the subject of the Terris people's skin color and the Lord Ruler... Do you honestly think passing him off as an albino would make sense and feel like a satisfying revelation? I feel like it'd turn it into much less of a "Wow!" moment and more of a,"Wait, what?" moment. And would it even be worth such a convoluted just so you could cast an African American or some other dark skinned person as Sazed? Besides, neither Sazed nor any other Terrismen were ever described as having dark skin. It's a fairly distinctive feature that would likely have been mentioned, just like they mentioned how unusual Adolin's black and blond hair or Shallan's red are compared to the standard Alethi black in WoK. The tall, lanky build, shaved head, elongated earlobes, and distinctive steward's robes are all noted as distinguishing Terris features, but never skin tone. I'm not trying to tell you how to imagine characters in your head, I don't care, I'm just pointing out that the text supports the idea that Terrismen's skin is probably not drastically darker than the rest of the Final Empire. EDIT: Clarified some ideas in the first paragraph.
  23. Took me a second... XD
  24. Your link follows to a thread about unknown Allomantic metal symbols.
  25. True! Shadows of Self spoilers: They might be able to burn it without having to swallow it, depending on how burning metals elsewhere in your body works. We have a WoB that metal piercing your body can be burned, but I'm not sure how that would apply to metal embedded in these pockets of flesh. They could potentially keep flakes of metal stored in the lining of their stomach, allowing them to keep a large storage constantly at the ready. If that works, they'd be undetectable without Bronze and virtually never run out of metals. EDIT: Would probably take a lot of practice to be that aware of the muscles in your stomach. You might end up vomiting the first few times, but hey, there are normal humans on Earth who can store large quantities of clean water in their stomachs and regurgitate it at will, so it's not really a stretch to assume a kandra-blooded human could learn to store their metals for later use.
