What does Duralumin + Atium or Duralumin + Lerasium do?
Lindel replied to WayneSpren's topic in Mistborn
It's my understanding that he achieved these feats of Allomantic strength through reverse Compounding, fueling his Allomancy through Feruchemy. We have these WoBs to support that: (source) (Emphasis mine) -

What does Duralumin + Atium or Duralumin + Lerasium do?
Lindel replied to WayneSpren's topic in Mistborn
No matter how many times you burned Lerasium to enhance your Allomancy, you would never be like the Lord Ruler. His unique abilities required compounding Allomancy and Feruchemy together, so unless you found a way to make yourself a Full Feruchemist, you'd still just be a really, really powerful Allomancer. And eventually you'd just Ascend and become Preservation. -
Ah, I was only counting Landwalk and Protection once each, but that works.

I concur with those who suggested Avatar: the Last Airbender. If you haven't watched it, do it now. Monk is another of my all-time favorite shows, although it's no longer on Netflix, which is sad. I've also recently come across Gilmore Girls, which I personally have found to be pretty fantastic. It's an excellent mix of comedy and drama, with brilliant writing, great repartee, and truly outstanding characters. Just thought I'd put that out there, it's definitely worth a try.

World misconceptions that are difficult to shift.
Lindel replied to ljósmóður's topic in Stormlight Archive
Also, Wayne always had a Scottish accent. He actually sounded pretty much exactly like Scotty in my head... EDIT: ^This. It wasn't as thick, but Rock's accent was distinctly Russian during my first read. Oh, and Hoid is basically Benedict Cumberbatch in my head. -

I initially imagined Sadeas rather thin and pale, and try as I might, I cannot shift that mental picture.- 256 replies

perfect order to read the cosmere
Lindel replied to High prince of geeks's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I agree with the sentiment of starting with the Mistborn Trilogy. It does a great job showing off what Brandon's capable of, doesn't rely on the foundation of trust that the Stormlight Archive, for example, often requires, and the trilogy provides an excellent introduction to the Cosmere, as they're the only books so far to give us a close-up view of Shards in action. -
Define "main book". There are four sets of scripture that we use in the LDS church alone, and no one book takes precedence over the other.

Now I remember why I should keep up the habit of checking this place every single day.

Well, I can' really sympathize with you there; I tore through it in three days. But, I'll tell you this. If it seems slow to you now, trust me. It's worth it.

Welcome to the forum! Just a bit of friendly advice. If a stranger offers you cookies, don't except them. Even if they ask quite nicely, or tell you they're full of essential minerals and good for anemic people. Just politely decline, and hightail it outta there. Consider yourself warned. And have an upvote!

Except Honor has been Spintered. Unlike Ruin and Preservation, where the power was still whole and complete, and someone picking it up provided a quick, easy solution, it's going to be a lot harder to revive Honor. His power is broken up and scattered all over the place. So when we say Honor is dead, we're not just talking about Tanavast, we're talking about the Shard itself. I agree that Honor is most likely one of the three Shards Brandon was referring to, but I thought I'd clarify that, cause the Ruin/Preservation example isn't exactly analogous to the current state of Honor.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Lindel replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Well, you could say he knows what's down. Which is, of course, what's up for the rest of us. -
Immortality on Scadrial is created through Allomancy and Feruchemy, which means it's at least partially of Ruin. Just thought I'd point that out. And if you've spiked someone to turn them into a compounder, then there's a whole lot of Ruin going on there.

Lindel replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
It was a nice try, but you had to go and make up the date! You gotta be more careful with your conspiracy theories, or people are gonna start wondering if you're just making it up as you go along. The Hero of Ages came out in October. In fact, none of the Mistborn books have come out in April. Do your research, Kobold! -
Well, as Winter Cloud put it, "The cookies are extremely high in content of essential minerals, such as zinc, iron, gold, steel, pewter..." Consume at your own risk.

Welcome to the forum! I really wouldn't take those cookies if I were you. They're a little heavy on the mineral side. Have some upvotes!

That's fair. I interpreted that as "Combustion Man" the first time through, my mistake.

Let me fix that for you.

Has anyone figured out what happened? I've seen Ete'ni's edited posts and negative rep all over the place, and can't help being curious.

Does Szeth need Breath to wield Nightblood?
Lindel replied to mhelvens's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Vasher's running on Stormlight. That's at least part of the reason why he traveled to Roshar, because Stormlight is far more plentiful than Breaths, and easier to attain. It's unclear how he's able to take it in, but he's clearly using that as a substitute for Breath. Nightblood only needs Investiture when he's drawn, he doesn't need it to survive. If anyone on Roshar has attempted to wield Nigthblood, either they could take in Stormlight, or they're now dead. In any case, it wouldn't have any effect on Nightblood himself. From what we saw at the end of Warbreaker, he wouldn't even remember it afterward.- 22 replies

The Dark Alley's home thread is aptly named "People you wouldn't want to meet in a Dark Alley". As you might imagine, their cookies are a bit too mineral-rich for my taste. But if you're into promoting the cause of science (at the cost of your own life!), by all means, take one. Have some upvotes!
