  1. Do you have a source for that? I had thought he was the specific exception to the statement that most "destroyed" investiture just returns to the spiritual realm. To the OP, I sincerely hope not, as I think he's retain some aspect of his original Command as his Intent (where he to even reach full Shardic levels or beyond) and that would make for a disastrously unbalanced supreme being.
  2. I dont know that I would want him to just randomly become a Knight, but I would be very pleased with him being the first to successfully revive a Deadeye shardblade, proving it is possible and (I hope) paving the way for the Sibling to reawaken and give us a new Bondsmith. Then I want the Training Scenes: Adolin getting to be the awkward novice for once, Renarin getting to teach him Regrowth (which I'll say for the sake of comedy he struggles with more than any of his previous endeavors), and Lift just being no help whatsoever and being entirely content with that role.
  3. Youre probably right, the Shattered plains (and most of Roshar) always seems to me to come across as more barren and storm-damaged that it actually is. Though by that same virtue I like to think that there is a lot of gemheart content in the ground aiding it. It seems that just about every native animal on Roshar has one, even if the Chasmfiends are the prized giant ones.
  4. That's the idea, could be natural gems, a secret stash, or even just a buried chasmfied corpse.
  5. I wasnt saying his situation was similar to Shallan's at all, quite the opposite. I was saying his situation was a lot less different from Kaladin's than you were implying, that Moash was raise by (it sounds like) very loving and supportive grandparents up to the time he left to start travelling, at a similar age to when Kaladin left to join the army. You seemed to be implying that Moash's childhood was a lot more horrible that I believe it was, more akin to shallan's full-time nightmare. But at the end of the day, if you fundamentally disagree with Foils as a literary tool, we probably arent going to get very far on this topic.
  6. Im with @Calderis on this one: the Shards definitely have their own Intents, but it's a very primal, conceptual thing (one might even say Spiritual). The manifestation of that Intent is then translated into a more solidified Cognitive Concept by the Vessel. The analogy I lean toward is Language Translation: there are often fundamental concepts that simply dont translate perfectly from one language/culture to another (because of differences in Perspective, Connotation, etc), so the details of the same concept can get altered/warped when the idea gets passed from one person to another.
  7. Agreed, we're close but not there yet. The real threshold we need is less about pure technological capability (even commercial aircraft can all but fly themselves these days) but rather about public (and legislative) trust in the systems enough to let complete novices climb in one without fear of the Human Element buggering it up. I dont think we'll ever trust the average person to control a multi-ton vehicle over our heads, but Air Taxis could certainly be a thing. They're already testing drone style Air-taxi's overseas.
  8. I dont know if I would go that far, Moash was a working adult by the time his grandparents were killed, at a similar timeframe to when Kaladin left for the army. It's not like he had the oppressive and unsupportive family life that Shallan did, which even Kaladin noted (in the Chasm) was brutal. Personally I think Moash is likely to end up bonding a Voidspren and becoming a Windrunner equivalent. Not sure I have much to support that theory, beyond the expectation that there will be another confrontation between the two. There is too much left unresolved between then (on both sides).
  9. I've always thought the main barrier isnt "Flying Cars since they technically have then now, it's just that they still require a Pilot's License. What we're really waiting on is Self-Driving Cars, which are fortunately right around the corner. Then they can just take to the air without worrying about that idiot (there's always an idiot) who's texting or whatever crashing his car into the top of a mall or school or neighborhood.
  10. Good question, maybe we'll someday get clarification on what the Bondsmith spren in that group of ten looks like (pehaps some amalgamation of the Three?). Given that she saw "windspren" though, my guess is that there would be a depiction of Gloryspren for the Bondsmith, on the theory that the Gloryspren are the kind to form Bondsmith Plate).
  11. Agreed with the rest, and to add to that, he was significantly younger than Wax when they met and and even then his age was somewhat approximate. It might be a while before the effects would accumulate to become noticeable. Especially given that it turns out we do all age at different rates
  12. I dont really think so, if only because Hoid was saying it, and he followed it up specifically to say that he was including himself in the list of people you shouldnt Trust, which is a disturbingly common message from him. Though I suppose his actual choice of words were "be wary of anyone who claims to be able to see the future" which is a bit less absolute than "Dont Trust." Pretty sure it has to either be Shallan or Renarin but not both, since they are very different with renarin getting none of the Illusion magic that Shallan is mastering. And Renarin's the one with the atypical spren for his order, so I definitely think it is indeed him.
  13. Stormlight causes plants to grow without needing a surgebinder to channel it, which is why the Parshendi needed the Gemhearts. If I had to guess, Id say Thar Be Treasure Under that there Garden (/Pirate Voice)
  14. Likely so, though I think the original 16 wold still be able to manifest their original bodies, given that (at least with Leras) it dropped when they died. They'd technically be Slivers though, having been expanded like a balloon, they wouldnt go back 100% to the way they were, there are still lasting changes to their Spiritweb
  15. Ok, so I have to say I fully disagree with the whole "Passion" argument, even when Rayse tried to make it in OB. It seems to me to be an example of limited perspective, in the same way that Cynics always like to describe themselves as "Realists" because a core part of the Cynic's viewpoint is that they are unwilling or unable to knowledge an optimistic or altruistic side of reality. "Destructive Passion", maybe, based on the Changes it wrought to the Rhythms, or maybe simply Wrath. Though I tend to think English simply lacks a single word to express it properly. That being said, I entirely agree that the nature of the Shards themselves are heavily influenced by their Vessel's perspective and interpretation of it. The Odium shard is "God’s own divine hatred, separated from the virtues that gave it context" per Frost. Ruin is not necessarily wanton Destruction so much as the natural Entropy of the physical world, part of the need for things to have both a Beginning and an End, but in Ati's hands it became Dangerous. Harmony could have manifested as Discord in other circumstances. And there are strong arguments to be made the Honor can (and maybe even will) become Unity if the Vessel were to take a more inclusive, Community view of the same concept.
  16. Agreed, though the downside is that it would presumably require the correct Corrupted/Voidspren to be imprisoned in the gems for it to work, and they may well be a limited supply. Unless Sja-anat does defect, of course, but she seems to care for them and may object to them being imprisoned in Fabrials.
  17. Perhaps Jaddeth is the Skaze equivalent of the Nightwatcher and/or Stormfather? Not an actual Ascended Shard, but an extremely powerful piece of the Dominion side of the Dor, post-shattering? That could also imply that Gretgor was a skaze-shardblade
  18. I suspect it's more that Harmonium is created via a mixture/intermingling of Ruin's and Preservation's Investiture, and so theoretically both those ingredients are still present. You could distill the Mist into Lerasium, so I think you could more or less create any Godmetal if you had a sufficient amount of a given Shard's Investiture, though I would assume it would take some kind of realmic process. Perhaps Soulcasting, for example, if you could overcome the whole "Invested objects resist Magic Meddling" bit. Hoid's a Soulcaster now, maybe he could pull it off.
  19. True, it still fits with the WOB, just not with the interpretation that it meant Frost was actually the Oldest in the Cosmere as @Weltall said. Folks were (reasonably) taking it to mean that Frost and Hoid had the #1 and #2 spots in the whole Cosmere, not just of the characters we've seen. Personally I suspect this new qualification is to allow for other Immortals and/or Dragons to eventually make an appearance with being locked in to any specific relative Age. Maybe Frost has a mentor out there, or some such?
  20. New data on the title of Oldest in the Cosmere:
  21. Couple things worth mentioning: There is at least one Kandra on Roshar Kandra are not Cognitive Shadows or spre, and are not themselves ridiculously invested, they are still real, Physical Realm Beings that have just been severely warped by Hemalurgy, so they should be able to roam freely. Kandra dont actually need specific Blessing spikes, they dont even need to be hemalurgical: any spike-shaped invested object will serve their purposes, even if ripping off a chunk of soul wasnt them method used to Invest it.
  22. I doubt it. Mraize has doe very limited worldhopping under close supervision, but I dont get the sense that's he's all that high up in the Ghostblood's trans-world heirarchy. Meanwhile, we have these two WOB's that strongly imply there has not been a whole lot of interaction between Hoid and the Ghostbloods, though they are aware of each other.
  23. I think the distinction is that she can sense the Present, while the Future requires the inverted Voidbinding Surge (I say Inverted because we know they are qualitatively different, and the Voidbinding chart seems to depict this with one-half of the sigil being Inverted). I think both allow you to peer into the Spiritual Realm to some extent, but for reasons relating to Roshar's specific segregation of Surges actually Looking Forward requires Voidbinding. As far as proving that she drew Shalash, it was in Ch 30 of WoR. She was idly sketching, and first drew a picture of some of the sailors from their sunken ship helping each other to shore; she was sure one of them was Yalb, but wrote it off as hopeful fancy. Then she drew one she didnt understand at all, of a woman raising a hammer and chisel about to destroy the face of a statue, which is classic Shalash behavior (and I think was happening around that time per one of the Interludes).
  24. Regarding the Highstorm, I doubt it, but mostly because I entirely expect there to be unrevealed Shenanigans happening at The Origin. But regardless, there are a lot of spren in that part of shadesmar as just about every spren that comes to the physical realm in response to people would be doing so from the bead-seas. As far as the Moons affecting the land, Id go with a Qualified Yes, in that the Moons would still have normal effects on things and the shadesmar side is a reflection of whatever they are (possibly with some amount of Time Delay as with things getting broken int he real world but remembering themselves in the Cognitive realm). However, there are shenanigans with the shape of the continent that, I think, would be overriding most if not all of the normal tidal processes: The Continent is moving, but also managing to maintain a very specific fractal shape (a 4D Julia Set Quaternion fractal, to be specific) and since that's a 4D thing, it's changes are presumably following that transform over time even in light of the effects of tides, Continental drift, and the weathering of the storms. Personally, I think the continent itself is the Sibling (ie the third Bondsmith spren) and is something akin to a giant Cryptic.
  25. Random detail I found yesterday: The singer Forms are granted by "lesser spren" specifically, and this includes those that make them regals.
