  1. Could you please read the link above, before posting? The drive presented there addresses most of the concerns you have presenting, and is more or less physically sound, excepting the fact that IRL we do cannot compress time, only dilate it ( negative energy, etc), but that can be addressed with Allomancy (bendalloy, I think). Just to be clear, here is how the thing works : the timespace before ship is compressed, behind expanded, with the result that the ship ends up in another place with arbitary speed, but without accelerating, or actually moving. So the problems of acceleration and navigating obstacles are gone, and the speed can be made essentially as high as necessary, up to near-instant. Sure, everything in-between will be probably destroyed, but that is another problem entirely. So Brandon will not have to change much from current system, and that is only the solution I came up with, and I am sure there are many others, similarly viable...
  2. When you put memories into coppermind, they are erased from your head. When you draw them normally from coppermind, you recall them perfectly, but, as is human nature, start to forget them, some faster, some slower. So each time you use your memories, they get muddled a little. But if you burn the coppermind, and then draw memories, you get more memories than you have put into coppermind, and you can continue to draw them as long as it burns (I think), so you can store them in separate coppermind and also, at the same time, remember them more vividly than when you've put them into storage, maybe at the level of actually reliving them. AT least that is my opinion.
  3. Um.. There are a few things that have to be considered, I think. One is this: as NinjaMeTimbers have noticed, the space and time bend together. two, there is a following passage: For some reason, (likely my incomplete knowledge of English Language), the composition "shot out, then hit" bothers me. It is like there is a space between the two. Anyways, it got me thinking: from POV of person in a bubble, what is the velocity of the bullet that is only halfway through the bubble border? Outside velocity or inside velocity? My guess would be the inside, with the outside part of the bullet changing length to fit, only for a moment. That means, that the bubble border acts like one half of the Alcubierre drive bubble, and Cadmium bubble as the other half, so if you actually combine the half-bubbles, you can realize the drive in the link, which is FTL. Although this one wonders, why does the light pass through the thing without bending. I mean, photons are lighter that bullets, but they don't get deflected. Why? Thoughts?
  4. I think it will result in perfect recall. You will have enough memories to store in other metalmind, and leave some -with higher clarity even than it was when made - in your head, so you'll be able to read books you flipped through, possibly draw with photographic precision, etc. Also, you'll be able to choose which memory to keep normal, which keep forever, and which drop into coppermind and destroy (by getting rid of metalmind) By the way, on Nicrosil -pure speculation here, but if Investiture works as I think it does, he will be able to compound his burning nicrosil So he'll only have to use very small amounts of metal for replenishing , and never use it for actual Nicroburst Also he'll be able to store his ability to store nicrosil, which is weird. The only possible use for such power as I can see is releasing a superburst of Nicrosil power, that will put Duralumin-powered Nicrosil to shame. Maybe then instead of touching an Allomancer he'll be even able to project a small bubble around himself, bursting all the Allomantic reserves of people nearby with double the power! But much, much more useful for full Mistborn (Atium Investiture Compounding.. Yum!)
  5. Um.. It was specifically stated that Ruin (and Preservation) gives off all Allomatic Pulses, including copper, so only those who could pierce copperclouds could sense them, like so:. That is, essentially white noise. Anyway, I think the difference between Allomancy and Feruchemy lies partially in fact that Allomancy is constantly drawing the power of a Shard from outside, creating ripples, like an AC outlet, while in Feruchemy you are charging/tapping your own power, your own part of Shard in your soul, and it works more like DC battery (hard to explain why I feel that way), so the Feruchemist may give of a small pulse when starting (only a single one, so it is very hard to detect), and produce tension, rather than pulsing, while actively using feruchemy. So to detect it you have to feel the difference between normal shard level (near a person, possibly) and and a decreased shrd level caused by shunting power into metal. A weird theory, but there it is.
  6. Indeed. The only thing approaching details was that link with the video. I've read it all though (and followed most of the links too). Maybe I should PM, or something.
  7. The very first idea that came into my mind. Although it seems that you can, in fact exit time bubble (at least one person was trying to, but he may have been the exception). There may be a transition zone, rather than clear border, so the calculations become much harder. Hm.. You know, there is a lot to ask about the time bubbles, the simplest being- do you age faster inside the thing (same goes for feruchemy speed, btw)? How many years does Wayne lose by sliding constantly? And also, do the effects of Slider and Pulser cancel themselves completely, or do they create a zone of no-effect equal to the bendalloy bubble? (it seems that completely..) FTL Travel, hm... Maybe the bubble can move with the ship, as it moves with the planet... Also, Allomancy Magitek. A pity I could not attend the release, being in Tokyo and all...
  8. That will distract them until it is too late ==^<|>.<*>^== (remembering the late cat that used to go for artery after such games... so much blood *sigh* those were fun days)
  9. Very true.
  10. Well, here are my thoughts (some mirroring those already expressed above) 1. You can transfer any investiture with Hemalurgy. 2. Outside Scadrial, you shall need atium (or alloy) to do that. If you drang somebody inside Scadrial, the same metals that steal, say, Allomancy, may work to steal that person's specific ability . Reasoning: Hemalurgy the the expresssion of Ruins power, and what fuels the transfer (destroying part of the power in the process) is Ruin. Scadrial is where Ruin is, so its power permeates everything. Outside Scadrial, you need a power source made out of Ruins body. 3. I think that yes you can steal Breaths. The question is, each spike can hold only so much charge. So depending on the spike size, you may be able to steal, say 10 breaths, and then you have the spike in your gut (or rectum, or wherever the bind point is), and are out of a bind point. So the amount of the breaths that can be stolen is limited by the spike size (relative to your body), and number of valid bind points. I don't think the impact can be that great, actually. I mean, you can rob the person of breaths by threatening him with death anyways... Well, up to a certain number. And you don't have to hurt yourself in the process.. Also the question is: the spike only maintains your life since it is charged. If you give stolen breaths away, say, to awaken something, will you end up with just a large chunk of metal through your body? Catolnasium
  11. Not sure if that is an error or not, but what is the deal with being able to push on the metals piercing the body "With difficulty?" Are they stronger Allomantically than before, or is that just an unfortunate turn of phrase?
  12. Whatever for? Claws go inside the body, so they should no be affected.. also, they offer places for clawspikes. Hm.. atium claws... [EDIT] Right, finished AoL. Man, that was short... Not much new info to go by, if you consider that we new ARS Arcanum beforehand. The only bit that worried me was the ability to push/pull on the embedded metals, which for some reason apparently became difficult, but possible for ordinary Allomancers. What's up with that... {EDIT2} An RP-like project sounds better and better (as I read the Nexus. I'll have to think on it, but I'll definitely need help for this one.
  13. Read the link in the sign, and you'll see the reason.

  14. That is a well-known fact (that Hemalurgy and Feruchemy charges are independent), but that was the power that Marsh himself stored beforehand. The question is about the previous holders of the power... (Going to bug Brandon on Facebook). [Edit] The AoL is come We shall know more soon.. but for know I am off [Edit2] I have started to read from chapter 6.. And an idea has occurred to me: an aluminum-plated skull may protect us from emotional allomancy
  15. Yes, I am wondering the same thing. You may not be able to burn/tap your own spike, but will you be able to tap a metalmind of person you have just taken powers from? After all, you have his soul doing the actual tapping...
  16. To Soother: , as I wrote several posts above, is the very same thing... You see, you get even better depth perception with one spike - because you see an object from your eye, and a line pointing to it from your center of mass, resulting in larger angle for triangulation, that varies depending on your posture, while with 2 spikes you only get lines originating from the same place (although the lines do seem to terminate on objects, so their length can be used as estimate).
  17. OK.. It is simpler. I'll include it with translation for now. Feles Regirent!
  18. Well, yes, for now. But there are things to consider, like : 1. the attribute changes with the bind point. What if the spike is curved to pierce several? 2. There may be ways to steal attribute without killing. Taking the other attribute seems possible then. 3. AFAIK, nobody tried to pierce a person with several spikes at the same time, for example, arranging them as one spike, (like this (top view)): <|>. Will they charge? Will the charge hold if the spike is split into two ans stuck into different points? I have thought of that as well, but I don't know how to make one.. or what one is for that matter.
  19. You can sign by adding the Caton of Inquisition, Catquisitor or Cat Inquisitor to you member description and/or adding the Motto/Link to the signature =^<*>.<|>^= . The motto is currently "Let the cats REIGN!", but there is an ongoing debate. As for the mind transfer, why, I believe that yes, you can, with the spike that steals memory (I think such exists) (possibly with identity.. stealing several attributes from one person is yet undiscovered, but who knows...) You will, of course, share the body with the original Cat. [EDIT] That was fast... Still, as a willing volunteer i propose that memories shall be transferred.. as an exception. And think of the implications: if only memory, but not identity can be transferred, we can create a position Memory Holders, Catquisitors that receive memories of important people amongst our enemies, while retaining their own mind. Who needs torture then? (Maybe only for fun, if one is so inclined) We will need to work on sharing those memories, though... I have always wondered if you can access stores of feruchemist whose powers you have just received...
  20. You need an ARC of the the book, and then you need to PM Chaos for access. It is closed now, since the book is not yet commercially available, although that will become a moot point in a few hours.
  21. The Koloss have 4 spikes for Strength. The Cat Inquisitor has at least 5 (in my original setup, anyways), but I plan to stunt the distortion by appropriately balancing the powers, no need to become too big, you know. They will still grow, of course. One must also consider that the spikes displace, rather than replace tissue, so the volume of the spikes gets added to the cat regardless. Some change is necessary for better effectiveness, though, such as developing longer, more flexible retractable (so we could still pose as a cat, albeit rather large one with a spike in one eye) fingers for weapon usage. (To CrazyRioter: who knows if there is such a point? Brandon had once said that the Inquisitors' internal structure changes, his vital organs may displace and/or multiply. We may have to apply additional spikes gradually, though. Also, if we use Atium-based spikes, I believe we can attach actually more soul/spirit than there were before ) It is true =^<*>.<|>^= (I still think that a combination of steelsight/normalsight is better, so only one eye spike. As stated above, the SpyKat will have MORE POWER then a measly Koloss. And be smarter than an average human. I still think the size will be sufficient, since a small spike (Vin's earring) gave her the full power, apparently, or at least enough for piercing copperclouds. Also, only a small part of the spike actually has to be in the body, so we may still use the external parts of the spike as an overlapping plate armor, you know. Um.. I don't like "May they rule the cats." bit... maybe something like Cosmere Feles Regitentur (Regitetur?) can work better ? (Let the Cosmere be ruled by the cats, or something like that) Could you ask?
  22. I'll try. You are right.. Yet it is my solemn duty as a scientist do experiment with new, wonderful things! But let us consider it a far-off future... Or just a possibility, for now. Um, I don't know. Something like "Imperii Felis", I guess. [Edit] "Imperiat Feles" seems to be a correct form, according to wiki. Well, I am open to suggestions.. That was just the first thing that came into my head, from WoT actually, "Let the Lord of Cha/t/os rule", or something. I didn't make them sentient just for the mice.. that not considering the fact that the Cat Inquisitor, in times of need, can subsist on small amount of bendalloy nearly forever... But we must keep our plans (creating the Cat Adolnasii by combining all shards) quiet for now, lest the humans suspect...
  23. Thank you! Um.. sorry to sound like a total noob (which I kinda am),but.. what newsletter?
  24. Sure, why not. Add that to your member description, if you want
  25. Um, why would you think that? If you are a member, then probably around 100 (using only currently available mistings/ferrings)
