You shall need two steel, two pewter and a pewter for Wakefulness or (assumedly?) Nicrosil for fortune, or Atium instead of any of the above then. Please choose.
-
Hm. Ok then. Must be coincidence. The idea that the Set has manipulated religion is possible, i guess. But Miles said that he has read the Book Of Founding. I wonder if those were edited, too?
-
That.. is actually more than I hoped for. Thank you. I did write him to be added to mailing list, and probably was added, although I don't remember getting confirmation, except for the fact that some newsletters did come after a month or so. I have asked for Aether of Night separately, and never received any reply, so I assumed that either my email address went straight to spam, or my letter was formulated rudely (about 50/50 on these). So it means Brandon still sends out these works even now. Back on topic, I think it was mentioned somewhere that 2 of Cosmere worlds are in the same start system. Maybe, if they call Sun as Nalt, Nalthis and Scadrial share a system? Or does my meory play tricks on me again?
-
I guess I'll join, too. Boy, that surprised me (I've just notices that you changed your names) Happy Birthday, Peter!
-
Well yes, I should know. *sigh* But a gold compounder does not use his body's ability to heal, so it should not matter if it is zero. He can constantly regenerate damage- any damage. No amount of aging actually compares to having a point-blank shotgun discharge in the face. So he' ll probably stay alive. Yet muscle degeneration that goes on with age does not seem to count as illness , so my guess would be that after some point he will be alive, but to weak to even walk. And then somebody will stop feeding him gold...
-
Who is to say that he didn't? He used it to regenerate, after all. Also, he was over 1000 year old when he lost his Atium bracers, going from around 30 to 1000 in seconds, and he didn't just keel over, so he was healthy enough to survive that. Apparently he didn't have his goldminds at the moment, and maybe body does waken with age somewhat, but he would still have survived on gold, it seems. So we can establish at least 1000 years as lifespan of gold twinborn. Hm.
-
Well, yes, but unlike Atium age, his need for gold will plateau at a certain level, so assuming he gets a well-paying job, or maybe invests money wisely, he can get a stable income that will cover his needs. So let us assume infinitely long, but stable supply ( Although that raises a question of where does all that gold go, and whether the planet itself will run out one day)
-
When did that happen? I have asked nicely (i think...), but got nothing in return. Maybe I should ask again. And no, Kandra are a parasitic race, they cannot gain sentience without humans around. Trellism, huh. I forgot that reference in The Final Empire, but you are right. Maybe the words of founding has included this religion in the list off all others. Or maybe some of the Kelsiers crew has remembered about it.
-
Ok, this one has been bugging me for a while. If Miles weren't killed, how long would he gave lived? I mean, humans don't die from old age, they die from the illnesses associated with old age. Osteoporosis is illness, and senility is a set of illnesses, as well as heart failure, gray hair, etc, all of which should be removed by gold Health. I mean, he could go on without breathing or heartbeat, his whole body just rewrote itself. Also, there are no reduced gains, or at least not infinitely reducing as in case with age. There is a fixed amount of health that will fix your body from nothing, and no damage or age will go above that. So, how long? He still aged, but perfectly healthy old man is little different from young man. Could he have lived for 200 years? 1000? 1000000?

"You can, but Avidhu can't, and you don't know the way. Besides, you only got your powers a few hours ago. We are smarter, but it still takes some time to adjust, nya." I say softly to the backs of the two cats. Shrugging, I stand up and walk to the door leading to the vast underground cave complexes which I deem "cellars". I also start burning pewter, shunting the power to my nicrosil metalminds. It never hurt to be prepared, especially when walking in the possibly unstable caves.
-
I wander in as I hear my name, glancing to Avidhu's dais to ascertain his reaction, then turning my attention to .. Baron, was it? I was always bad with names, but he was kinda hard to forget, with all the custom-sized spikes I had to make and implant, mrrnya. He seemed to adapt already, speaking like he was born that way, rather than gaining the ability a few hours earlier. Yet he bespoke verily, for he was not the only one feeling the pangs of hunger after recent toils. "The food... If you fancy some fresh meat, your donors are still good. There is also some food in the ice cave, in the cellars. I can show you the way there. No salmon, though, just mountain trout. If you want salmon, the river is a few hours of walking thataway, nya~~" I wave vaguely in the direction I assume east is. "You can catch some, if it is still there. Never trust the fish, nya." I flop in the corner and proceed to lick my hand clean of blood.

Ah, yes, I see you are waking up. Welcome to the Caton! Please disregard the headache. It is just chloroform, although may be the 5 screws in your brain may also be responsible. One can never be sure, nya… Do not try to answer yet. I know you can understand me, but your vocal apparatus has not yet adapted to human speech. You will be more or less able to speak (in emergency) by the end of this day, but for now I shall explain the situation and the corresponding rules. In peace… Anyway, this here id the R&D division of the Caton. For the moment, I am the only member, but you are welcome to join, if that is your inclination. Hm... Now the reason you can understand me has to do with those screws in your head and metal implants in your shoulders, the so-called Hemalurgical spikes. They transfer powers and attributes, and with the amount you were given you should be able to retain information almost perfectly. I won't bother myself reciting common knowledge to you, seek it elsewhere… My main focus is Hemalurgy and its applications, although I have worked on Allomancy before… but that is not important anymore. Anyhow, below are the fruits of our R&D. Some were recovered from documents dating back to the Origin, and we can count on their consistency. Others are only used by us and may be changed by Harmony as he pleases… He likes to play with the rules. So when you need a new spike, a consultation or just a medical help, give us a shout here. The first five spikes are on the house, so to speak, others you will have to charge yourself, or ask your friends - whatever. Just make sure you keep them in the warm body or they will leak, nya. So, without further ado: Basic powers: Iron: Pulls on metals, stores Weight. Steel: Pushes on metals, stores physical speed. Tin: Increases senses, stores senses Pewter: increases physical abilities, stores physical strength Zinc: Riots emotions, stores mental speed Brass:soothes emotions, stores warmth Copper: hides bronze pulses, stores memories Bronze: allows hearing allomantic pulses, stores wakefulness Cadmium: slows down time, stores breath Bendalloy : speeds up time, stores energy (nutrition, fluid) Gold: reveals your past, stores health Electrum : reveals your future, stores determination Chromium: wipes target allomantic reserves, stores fortune Nicrosil: Enhances allomantic burn of target, stores Investiture Aluminium: Wipes internal allomantic reserves, stores Identity Duralumin: Enhances the next metal burned, stores connection. Yes… This powers are known. Also, there is an ability of Compounding. Storing attribute in the metal gradually changes that metal into a metal that gives off more attribute than was stored, when burned Allomantically. When the storage is full, Allomatic effect completely disappears, nya! Now for the main course, Hemalurgy: Iron - Steals Human Strength Steel - Steals Allomantic Physical Powers Tin - Steals Human Senses Pewter - Steals Feruchemical Physical Powers Brass - Steals Feruchemical Mental Attributes Zinc - Steals Human Emotional Fortitude Copper - Steals Human Mental Fortitude Bronze - Steals Allomantic Mental Powers Aluminum - Steals Allomantic Enhancement Powers Duralumin - Unknown Atium - steals all powers and attributes Malatium - Unknown Gold - Unknown Electrum - Unknown As you can see, there are many blanks, so we must work together to fill them… In the meanwhile, you have a choice is each spike… We have some atrium here, not much, and we can make spikes from it… It is better, for the transfer rate, and the side effects are less.. Alas, we do not have Atium mistings to draw upon… So no Atium burning for you, nya… Must work on that. Or, you might opt for a normal metal from the above list. Now, some of out unique research: It has been shown, that when the feruchemist is killed for his/her powers, the one to receive the power can get to the stores of the unfortunately deceased, but not fully… only about a half is accessible, due to the corruption of Spirit Web and Hemalurgical decay. That also means that if the spike is split, one can actually store some attribute reserves for his/her spike brother (sister)! Only about quarter, of course, but that is what Compounding is for. Well, I see you have fully recovered now. I guess I'll see you around. And now I think I'll take a catnap. *nyawn* Ah yes, the active research.. I've posted a note over there. Active research Weapons Tooth and claw are good and tried weapons of cats (along with manipulation), but they can be made better. Also, it is the age of firearms now, but firearms suited for a cat are sadly missing from the production line. I am no weapon expert, so your proposals are welcome... The only weapons I can offer now are envenomed metal claws for implants. Hemalurgical applications of missing metals There is so much we don't know... Interesting combinations of available powers Other research suggestions welcome.

Delay on the Mistborn Adventure Game, But Free Mistborn RPG Novella!
Satsuoni commented on Chaos's article in Brandon and Book News
I am reading the novel right now. There appear to be small inconsistencies with the canon material. (Damping Steel for pushing?) -
This here is roster of all members of the Caton, and their abilities, equipment and statuses, updated as often as I wake up, nya. Please report here once your head has cleared and you have decided what you want to be,and what original powers you want to have. You all wake up... well almost all, nya... with 7 atium spikes in your body (5 screws hidden in your skull.. I had to put you to sleep so you wouldn't wiggle as much when I drove them home.. the position is precious, nya, especially for the small bodies that most of the members have, and two in you shoulders implanted along the bones), but if you want we can replace them, or some of them with basic metal, 4 for Emotional Fortitude, 3 for Mental, for stability. Also one in your eye, for Ironsight, since that feel right. In addition, you can choose up to 5 spikes initially, as listed in the R&D. You can report your wishes here, but just once, and all other spikes have to be earned, and implanted in R&D (with some exceptions). Now I should introduce myself, shouldn't I? As you can see, I am not a cat *sigh*, well mostly. I am a human. Yet my vertical-pupiled eyes and um... hair distribution seem to speak otherwise, does it not? Well, that is a memento! Yes, a precious memory, and a precious gift indeed. See the scar in my forhead? There is a zinc spike behind it. I hid it, so not to attract attention.. Did not work out very well in the end, nya. But I digress. This spike carries the essence of the cat, the one I lived with most of my life, and the only living thing that I truly loved. But alas, the cat's lifespan is short, and at the age of 19 she fell ill, and there was nothing I could do. She was the only living relative of mine, and I have decided that life was not worth living without her. I was and allomantic researcher at that time, a twinborn of the rarest variety, so i had access to a lot of pointy metal things at the time. I grabbed the first thing that seemed up to a job, which happened to be a zinc spike, put the poor cat out of her misery (she was barely conscious and crying incessantly), lodged the spike in the table and headbutted it. Imagine my surprise when I woke up. At first, one would have thought that I have failed in killing myself, but the piece of metal was lodged in my brain almost the whole length. Also, I felt... different (not surprising, that part). Calmer somehow, more detached, and craving fish. Curious, too, nya. So i drove the spike completely into my skull, covered the wound and went on to investigate my survival, eventually arriving at the mentions of Hemalurgy in some old documents dating from the Origin. My then, the physical change has begun.. and now I am as you see me.. But enough about me for now. Tell me. What are you? Out of character: Some rules: the initial 8 spikes are as defined above. You can post up to 5 additional spikes in the character application. For additional powers please post in R&D topic or describe in detail on storyline. Please delineate the out-of-character posts somehow. I'll be using cursive for that. Also, please keep them to the minimum in the story topic, or the posts will be deleted. There will be a roster of characters in this post, but only with current powers/abilities/status. For detailed background the original application post will be preserved. If I make any errors in the update, please inform me. Character template (approximate. Made by Emeralis.): Name : (Perhaps the most important part of your character, go crazy) Gender : (male?, female?, other?) Age : (adult human age is 18, cat adult age is about 1-2 year) Class/occupation: (pretty much anything for a human. Cats in the Inquisition have specific classes generally, normal cats are either domesticated or feral) Species : Mainly cats, please. If a human, a detailed story of how he/she learned of Caton and came to join/oppose it is required. Application (human) may or may not be accepted, sorry. Also, kandra/koloss have the same rules as human. breed: (applicable for cats only) relationships: Description: (physical traits, not spikes, unusual characteristics, height, weight, length) Spikes: (any spikes above the standard, humans don't have initial spikes, except me ) Personality: (likes/dislikes, habits) Skills: (what can they do well?) Background/history: (bad experiences, good experiences, family story, how did they end up where they are now?) My own character: Name: Satsu Emeralis00's character: Name: Avidhu (Formerly Darick) TheObliderator's character: Name: Baron

Heh. Well, you are right about bind point - one per spike. But the number of them on the cat's body is the same as on human, I think. After all, our bodies are homologous, afaik. ( that is, cat be mapped with one to one correspondence, or close enough) Oh and by the way, Hemalugy works by stapling spirit webs together, so getting a larger resulting spirit web is normal.
-
Yep Just justified that one by the law of energy conservation.
-
You know, I kind of have a theory that seems to fit both conservation of momentum and velocity. The idea is simple: assuming that Scadrial to some degree conforms to Einstein Theory of Relativity, we can say that mass m is a measure of energy content of the body. Then what the feruchemist is storing is actually his energy content, drawn proportionally from his potential, kinetic and mass energies. That would mean, since all these energy formulas contain mass in the same power, that his velocity, altitude, and the speed of light will stay the same, while his mass temporarily drops. Then, when he draws energy back, it also increases proportionally, so his velocity stays the same while momentum grows due to added energy. In this way, although he won't be able to make himself quite as massive while in motion, the difference will be proportional to v^2/c^2, that is, insignificant on the non-relativistic velocity levels. So, when he uses his abilities to power something, he loses some energy from metalmind, eventually (in a few millenia) running out. So in the end, like this: you remove energy/mass from the world for a time, and then can add the same energy/mass for a time, resulting in conservation.
-
According to Ars Arcanum, in Vorinism there are ten elements, which can be translated, roughly, according to their various focuses as wind, smoke, spirit/fire, crystal, wood, water(blood), oil, metal, stone, flesh/organics. Each of the orders was named after a single element, and has two surges as their primary powers (Windrunners have surges of gravity and air pressure). Surges correspond more or less to the physical powers.
-
Any Iron feruchemist can become any weoght for a small amount of time. For example,if you can drain metalmind, becoming 2 times heavier for a day, you can probably become nearly planet-massed for a nanosecond. It is even easier for Compunders
-
Yes we do. When they fall out of the bubble after explosion
-
Well, certainly not, as long as the power is the same through the circle. I wonder though, how close is nearby , what happens if the circles overlap only a little, etc... To get the drive effect, they first have to create a nonlinear Allomantic field ( rather than linear in a spherical volume, as now) , so as they use it now, probably nothing will happen.
-
The fact that Miles takes a shotgun blast to the head without problems (he shoots himself) seems to suggest that neuronal connection is not an issue. Also, there are some nerves that bypass the spine, i think.
-
Whyever not? (There is of course the fact that you don(t have metals anymore, since a) those for burning are in your stomach most metalminds are affixed on body.) But if you have a full metalmind in your head, then why not tap it?
-
BTW, from Brandonthology:
-
Ah yes, that is right. I forgot about that episode. SO the distortion is small enough for a human to survive without injuries.
