  1. I woke up in the morning. For a few moments we are disoriented. This place is different from where we usually wake up... Ah right, I have returned to Elendel with Alfie. These are my chambers, nya, and the headache and numbness are results of using too much pewter yesterday - that and the fact that I stop drawing Investiture when we are asleep. I start doing it again, almost unconsciously, at a very low level. My head clears somewhat. What should we do today? My growling stomach answers that question for the moment, at least and I call up my butler, ordering breakfast. "And did you see Alfie today, Finnar?" "No sir, although I fear one of the strays have sprayed in your lab. It has been taken care of." "Very well. What are my appointments today? And do you have any interesting nayuus?" I put certain emphasis on interesting, slipping somewhat on the last word. My staff is used to them by now. I really hope they attribute that to my incident. Butler nods to indicate that he understood my meaning. "Nothing in particular, sir. The reports are prepared, as usual. Lord Fenkel wanted to meet today, at your house, if it were convenient, to discuss a purchase of high quality Duralumin and Chromium, I believe." I rub my temples, scratching them a little. Social visits were never our strong suit, but necessary, unfortunately. Lord Fenkel was one of the largest purchasers, buying both pure metals in bulk and finished products, like metalminds. The himself was a Connector. Dangerous, in a way. My Nicrosil attenuated the effects, but didn't remove them completely. "Thank you, Finnar. Please send a message to Lord Fenkel that I will be available at my usual hours today. That will be all for now." Butler bowed and withdrew. I sat at my desk, scribbling notes and planning my day. At the same time, I wondered where Alfie has gotten to.
  2. Hm, you are right about desolations working like that. One could argue that these were primarily clashes between him and Honor, but it seems not (his goal is stated to be the everstorm, final desolation and complete destruction of the world(s), as shown by Tanavast, so...) OK, I don't know about this one. Maybe that is influence of Rayse himself, choosing his hate of everything over hate of everything onto itself. Maybe we misunderstand something about his interaction with the worlds. I really cannot say Right now, it is said that Odium reigns, the wars are many, nations distrust each other, and so on. Maybe Desolation loss of life is a side effect of too much hate?
  3. Thanks!. I see. (I think) As usual, when I see a magic system I wonder how far you could push it. (still a bit bummed about lack of mass gholam/ balelance production in WoT) Does that magic only works on metal? (Can you manipulate cells in such way? Could you do gene modification, at least on the nucleus level, with a microscope?) What counts as metal? Is silicon one? Do metal oxides work? (For crafting better, high-precision lenses form Al or Si oxides) I am guessing that no amount of crafting would give these gadgets independent power source, which kinda limits the options... Hm, precision engineering... Well, analog computers (they will still be fragile, though) Weapons and armor, as mentioned above, with improved crystalline structure for better durability. Medicinal implants/sutures of metal, for or during precision surgery. Can't really think up much else right now...
  4. Bavadin was stated to be White Sand shard, IIRC... Totally different planet. Also, in the same letter it was stated that Rayse was evil to begin with, and having Odium shard didn't change him to the better... While Ati was "the best of them" (paraphrasing). Also, I am not sure you read the Intent correctly. IMO (and strictly IMO) intent has more to do with the increase of the quality in the world (see my thermodynamics theory). That is, Ruin wants to increase Ruin (entropy?) of the world, Preservation on the other hand -to stop the increase, to increase the amount of stable states. Honor makes the world where being honorable gives you more power (in theory), etc... Odium, for example, does not hate himself, just everyone else. In my opinion, he wants to increase the amount of hate in the worlds. Inducing strife, bigotry, wars, until everyone hates everyone else, possibly themselves included.
  5. Ok, hope you don't mind my interruption then. Depends on the nature of the world but the devices I would want to see... Let's see. Bionics/human augmentation. A lot of it. From basic (limbs/etc), to more advanced, up to something that would allow tapping into a magic system directly, if there are people in the world that for some reason can't use magic. Armor, of course. goes with the first item. Sensitive measuring technology, that is also made relatively robust. From precise clocks that can stand a beating to sophisticated multipurpose trackers for field use. What else? Not sure now. Is the world more clockwork or magitek? Or mix thereof?
  6. What? Babies to punch and I am not invited? This must be addressed immediately As the Voidus said. Heralds had Honorblades, which are unlikely to be Dawnshards, since Dawnshards "bind all creatures voidish and mortal". That doesn't sound like something the blade would do... And Seems too strong anyway. It is theorized that Dawnshard was used to create Knights Radiant orders/oaths to begin with. Also, Heralds were still around when Radiants were founded. Which means that unless the founding was during Desolation, their blades were in whatever hell they existed in between them. Still, it might have been during desolation... Next, from readings we know that Parchendi live in the center or so of Shattered plains, so the increased resistance may just be them not wanting to lose their main stronghold (with non-fighters in it, no less). Also, as Voidus mentioned, they waould have used the nice blades. They use shards readily enough. Yes, they probably were champions. Still, it took a while after they left to kill Tanavast... But maybe. Not sure what you mean here... But if it means that some hints leading to restoration of Radiants lie with Shin and old religions, I agree. The Visions of Dalinar, except for last one, were Tanavast memories. Which means that he was still alive during Recreance... And honorable words have no bearing on honorable deeds. In case of Oaths, something else is at work (probably the power boost arising from creation of the Radiant orders to begin with, however that was done). That is about all holes I can find at the moment...
  7. After partaking a simple dinner I sent the servants away with strict orders not to disturb me and proceeded to work on the book, copying out relevant paragraphs. After some hesitation, I have decided that destroying the book would be the best course of action. I couldn't just return it to the station - I was too conspicuous, and would be remembered. I could maybe send Alfie, or another cat, but still, it was too risky, the book too big and unwieldy for easy carry. So I've cut out the diagrams and pages that interested me, and fired up small but powerful furnace in the small metallurgy lab, feeding remains of the book into it. It was late when I was done, bordering on dawn, really. I was exhausted, the evidence was largely reduced to very fine ash, so I turned in for the night. [ooc]As agreed, let's try to resume around next Wednesday.[/ooc]
  8. I think this is not a lashing per se, as it is the effect of Stormlight inside his body. In the way similar to when it starts to leak when the body is damaged, and closes over a wound, it may work to protect him from excess pressure, dissipating his impact over a larger area (and eating a lot of stormlight in the process). Why does it work so? No idea. It may be related to pressure/atmospheric pressure.
  9. IIRC, Pewter is multiplier, so if you were able to lift 100kg you might be able to lift 150kg with pewter, maybe 200 for savant. Not sure about exact numbers. It does depend on your natural ability (muscles), pewter ability and flare level, but does not depend on the amount you have ingested (You cannot flare a lot of pewter, you can flare it or not, with very small gradation)
  10. Well, that was that. I inspected my phenotype, looking for continued Hemalurgic corruption. So far, it looked as if I was in the equilibrium state, which was fine. I poked around at my Pewter-granting spike running along one of my ribs - in fact, bolted to it. It held fine. Satisfied that I was clean and still reasonably healthy, I dried myself. First order of business, deal with the book... Or so I thought... "You are hungry." That voice again. "We are hungry. With both pewter and Investiture, you tend to forget." We... I? felt like an idiot. True enough, we did tend to forget our more mundane needs. I went to the dinner room, passing the kitchen. "Ah Susie, there you are" - I addressed one of the maids, the Coppercloud. I felt pertinent to employ her Allomantic services from time to time, for the additional pay of course. "Yes, sir?" From the slight embarrassment on her face I could guess she was discussing my love life again, and I winced inwardly. Some of my... changes included my genitalia, which varied from largely male cat's to androgynous, more befitting our identity. Neither was particularly conductive to taking lovers. "Could you please brink my dinner to my study? I have work to do. And have Finnar give me the list of my appontments when he is done preparing it." "Right away, sir." "Thank you." I nodded to the maid, and went back to my study, hoping that Alfie didn't get into any mischief.
  11. Well, the point is, you can store it while, from your POV and that of outside observers "sleeping". Obviously, you need to sleep enough to both recover and store, since simple storage won't get you more recovered, although it may get you more tired (at the same rate as any non-sleeping activity, though... ok not sure). Still, apparently you can regulate the process subconsciously, combining sleep and storage. And back to the topic - I'd go with nicrosil, I think... and a flamethrower. Non-metallic/aluminum alloy one. Or double nicrosil...
  12. Um, Nepene: From well of ascension. So, yeah, you totally can... don't listen to RPG too much.
  13. I smile at Alfie's words. He is right on many counts, of course. The butler, for example, is often watched by the Cat Inquisitors. He is loyal enough, as far as I can tell. I open the door as the man knocks. Predictably enough, this is my butler, Finnax. "Your bath is ready, sir, and a dinner will be waiting for you after you refresh yourself." I nod. "Thank you, Finnar. Please ensure that I am not disturbed while I bathe, as usual, and send out notices that I am here. I believe Lord Fenkel wanted to discuss a purchase with me directly, and our usual reseller need to be informed of course." Butler bows slightly and leaves. I see Alfie slinking out after him. Sorry, but you did express a desire to go exploring/ checking loyalty. Tell me if I overstepped. Alone, I unpack my things, hiding diagrams into one of the secret compartments of the steel-lined table, and Terris book into another one in the wall, for now. I'll need to copy relevant parts and dispose of the book, possibly return it - though that does not seem feasible anymore. Then, I select a set of house clothes, including a mask which I usually wear in the city, and go to take a bath. I am still human enough to enjoy it, although I've heard of some cats that do, too. I take my time, enjoying warms easing some pains that I wasn't aware I had. The dull throb of the spikes still persisted, but even it seemed diminished. I looked down on my body, sparse, soft fur covering parts of it, skin marked with hundreds of small scars. Some of them itched. I thought about loyalty again. I trusted Cats, but only so far, for they were ever independent creatures. But even then, I had safeguards added. They were weak safeguards, and they served another primary purpose, but they were there, if I ever needed them, on all but the first cats.
  14. As I enter the house, I am greeted by my butler, whom I promptly send off, ordering him to prepare a bath and a small dinner delivered to my study. This house, unlike my dwelling, contains several members of my staff, including two maids. I am not a particularly rich person, my House relative obscure, but I have enough income coupled wit minimal spending to maintain at leas an illusion of normality in the capital. I enter my study, and turn to Alfie, after checking around to see if any servant was close by. "Welcome to my house, Alfie. Feel free to explore." I briefly outline the important details. [ooc]See previous post[/ooc] "I must note, however that while weak, Mander is loyal, and more importantly not stupid. Also, a Thug, even if that is not obvious, nya." My voice shifts slightly, into mild hissing. "Don't be arrogant, Alfie. Many humans are weak, but never discount them, not even the lowest servants or street urchins. Remember, even one person escaping notice may set into motion chain of events leading to one's downfall. Be loyal to your servants, but be careful around thhhem, never let down your guard. Try to ensure their loyalty, but do not ever truly assume it." "You can kill people, but always be aware of repercussions. You kill one child bully, and suddenly there are teams of Allomancers seeking to bring you down... Sorry, bad memories that." I sigh. "Well, I am going to rest, and tomorrow we will collect information - both from human and cat sources - and make our plans. Feel free to do whatever you wish until morning." I hear somebody approaching. Probably my butler, to tell me that bath is drawn, but I pop a small bead of Pewter, just in case.
  15. "That is a good idea, I guess. Well, you know where my house is positioned from the map, but here it is, right near the canal itself, see? I apologize in advance, but I'll have to behave as if you were a normal cat, since the human staff that maintains the house doesn't know about you. They do know that I am eccentric, so me talking to cats as if they were humans is not frowned upon. Just don't talk back, and try not to follow instructions too much." While I talk, we approach a relatively small 3-storied building near a warehouse, with a small garden visible behind it. "The warehouse is also mine, it is where the raw metals are stored and some of the smelting and alloying is taking place. Not industrial scale, of course, but then I am specializing in more exotic alloys of high purity. Well, I should probably stop talking to you, nya." As we approach the house, a guard meets us. Recognizing me - well, my figure, but that is not something easy to mistake, he greets me. "Welcome back, sir." He notices Alfie. "A new stray, sir?" I try to speak as normally as I can manage, which makes my voice dry and raspy at best. Well, part of my cover story is damage to my throat. "Kind of, Mander. I think he was a house cat, before his family run-in with the bandits. But never mind that. Is the house ready? Has there been any disturbances?" "Nothing much, sir, although one time a burglar tried to break in. Would you believe, apparently he stepped on one of sir's cats. Resulting racket brought half constables in the area, and they apprehended the fellow before he could get anything." I smile. Some cats were very protective of metal stores, apparently. "I see. Thank you for the news. Alfie, come here." I proceed to enter the house. [ooc]3-story house with a small yard behind it. Yard contains a small hole for cat's entry/exit, as well as entry to the basement of the warehouse, which is adjacent. The staff treats you as stray cats that they are obligated to feed, sometimes, and will shoo you from some rooms, like bedroom and bathroom. There is a small lab in the house with rarer metals, and a larger one in the warehouse. The basement is nominally secret, but kept clean, just in case (no bodies). Ask if I missed something.[/ooc]
  16. Well, the point is, we, as humans, can't imagine something outside our experience, so we can only approximate. Will removing "evil" from people also remove selfishness altogether? Boost altruistic parts, so that something self-directed like mountain climbing would be superseded by the desire to help others? People would no longer be able to envy each other, or to actually perceive conflict between each other. According to the book, borders were "a relic from earlier age", and "why would somebody try to "own" land? There was enough for all." You see, from my (severely warped) POV, government is there to bother me. If everybody were to understand what was best for everybody and act accordingly, without fear, envy and selfishness, it would not be necessary. Law would literally be built in into human psyche. But for a person of grey zone, like Rand, like most of us, it would look... bizarre at best. Different. All personalities would be shifted into good, and while normal for a person of that world it would look doped up to us - we are not used to being constantly happy, and our very bodies would normally compensate. {EDIT} Once again, from progress POV, WoT is stuck in eternal loop - new stuff gets discovered, then war comes and everything is forgotten. That is the very point of the Wheel. Without war, the discoveries would persist and build up. With constant war, probably similar, only for weaponry. As it is, the world is doomed to repeat the same war until one side wins, rendering all their achievements in the lifetime moot.
  17. OK, my impressions... Overall, a good book and a satisfying ending However, reading the book made me feel like ranting about a few points. I realize that most people don't share my particular worldview, and the rant is purely my opinion, so I'll hide it with spoiler tags. Before that: Gateways, woot At last somebody using them properly. As for the sun... Not healthy, that. The gateway itself shields you from thermal bloom from lava, so a small one to the sun would probably roast your army as well as your opponent... Not to mention the gravity efects, which nobody seemed to consider - and gravity works through gateway just fine, or you wouldn't fall through it. So... Caution rantVV End rant Yay. Kudos to Brandon! Stormlight, next
  18. I nod, and pet him carefully, massaging strained muscles with one hand, while I flip the book with the other. "You did well." From the window I see 7-8th canal approaching. Our station is next, so I withdraw my hand and collect my things as we cross the river. "Here is our station. As you don't seem to like being carried, I trust you can pretend to be a normal cat and get to the platform by yourself." I put on my glasses, checking the mirror to see if I still had vibrissae. Satisfied, I leave the train, nodding to the guards at the station, and after calling Alfie, head along the canal to my house. [ooc]So, yeah, brain still on the fritz XD. But essentially, the arrival event - see the map for location. You can follow, or wander the streets for a while - as you choose.[/ooc]
  19. While Alfie is gone, I stretch and tap more Investiture. With a few painful pops, my body recovers its normal equilibrium. I glance on some amount of fur that I've shed, displeased, and swallow a few more beads of Nicrosil to replenish what I just expended. At this moment, there is crash in the Terrisman's compartment that made me jump. Was Alfie discovered? I look out of the door into the corridor, just in time to see Alfie come out, dragging a large leatherbound book with his mouth. The sight is quite comical, and I smile as I retreat back into my compartment. The cat drags the book to me and drops it, informing me that the man is Steel Feruchemist. Good thing we didn't fight him. Now to see what knowledge did this book of his contain. Before that, I address Alfie. "Thank you, Alfie. I am sure this book will prove useful." - Also, I hope it won't be traced to me. I'll have to be circumspect with the knowledge contained within. - "I am not sure how to thank you properly, nya. For now, please have some more food and metals, and rest. I doubt we will be able to learn anything else useful until our arrival. Tell me if you need a massage." With that, I turn my attention back to the book. I flip through it. At first, it contains a brief review of Feruchemy and Allomancy in general. No mention of Hemalurgy, but I am not surprised - to my knowledge, only Kandra and I know about its existence, as well as mythical Ironeyes, the last remaining human Inquisitor, as far as I could tell. Ah, here is something interesting. A treatise on the use of Nicrosil by the Soulbearer Ferrings... Let us see. I know this... and this... Suspected, but never tried this part. So this is how it is supposed to work... But in general, not much that I don't already knyaw. Wait, what is this? "New methods of purifying chromium from chromite ore by using aluminium or silicon as a catalyst in electric arc furnace." "The expense is significant, however, refer to the chapter 7 of this treatise to see a new promising method for purification of Aluminium itself, discovered by accident in one of the new furnaces." "The power provided by the furnaces is enough to purify silicon in large quantities." This is interesting. I use a new furnace for creating nicrosil alloy, but it would seem hat I'll need a bigger one, and what do they say about Aluminum? "Very interesting indeed. The knowledge about Feruchemy is valuable in itself, though limited, but these new processes may change a lot, especially while they are not commonly known. Thank you again, Alfie." I return to reading. Without further accident, train arrives to Elendel, and I regretfully close the book and collect my notes. "Well then, this is our station. Shall we go?"
  20. Defeat a terrisman, huh. Would be it were so easy... "While there is no doubt that we can defeat the terrisman, there is no telling what the repercussions will be, since defeating would mean killing, and this terrisman seems to be high enough in the ranks. He wouldn't have such a book with him otherwise, and his disappearance or death will be questioned. With just 30 active Cat Inquisitors, I don't think we are quite ready for that level of exposure yet." I sigh. A Kandra for experimentation would have been nice... But later, when I will be able to afford the risk. "The book, on the other hand, seems very important, especially if it describes new refining methods - I could surely use it, both for our organization and my finances - I can't mine all metals, you knyaw." "So we should steal it, without arousing too much suspicion. It is getting late, and I am sure Terrisman is getting tired, unless... Did you check what metal he is using? Let us hope it is not Bronze. If it is, we may have to devise a new plan. If it is not, see if you can Riot his exhaustion, and persuade him to have a nap, and then report. If he hides the book where you can't reach, open the door for me, otherwise just grab the book and get it here. What do you think?"
  21. I get out a packet of semi-dry fish from my pack, as well as a packet of metal mix for Alfie (Zinc, Steel, Electrum, Tin, Brass, in small beads that are easy to pick up and swallow), and put them into small dishes before him. Wincing as my reverse transformation continues, I run my hand over the face, removing excess fur. Whiskers still stay on the side of my nose which has almost returned to my normal semi-human dimensions. "Here you go" - I say quietly, so not to overload his tin-enhanced ears. I consider asking Alfie to trail kandra as he leaves, but decide against it. There is no telling if the kandra would go to their lair with a cat following him, and it is better not to separate now. In the end, I just settled down and listened to Alfie's report, grumbling a little. "So much knowledge in those kandra, but dangerous to mess with." [OOC] The kandra is there to pass on the earrings for new Pathians, and to discuss some recent research on Feruchemy. Terrisman is part of the Synod, although not the top, and Pathian himself, so he is aware that he is dealing with kandra. He travels to Elendel on official Synod business with house Yomen. Feel free to extrapolate from that. [/OOC]
  22. I regained myself, well as much as that was me, nya. As usual, sudden and severe changed in soul balance left me with a horrible headache, a spike aching .. well, as a spike driven in the head should. Alfie was apologizing, his voice adding a saw-like quality to the pain. I winced. "Nyashhohsssskkkhhh myashhh nyanya!" Oh great. My voicebox changed too much, and while I could probably relearn how to speak, it would take a lot of time. Besides, my body was changing back to the normal equilibrium, although slowly. I accelerated the process somewhat, tapping more Investiture. This sent waves of new pain through my body, this time concentrating on testicles which now were being squeezed between bones and my metalminds, but my head cleared, and I could speak, after a fashion. "Nyat issh nyo Inkhquishitrr." Maybe a bit more. Ouch. "Zat ishh Kandra, a ssserwangth oh Harmyanya." I should really study how Cats manage to speak without lips and half teeth. Obviously, they compensated somehow, but I'd be damned if I knew how. I didn't in fact know much about how their internal structure changed, except for the fact that they had two heart -the second a single two-compartment pump, really - and half their brain displaced into torso by spikes. I shook my head, tapped more Nicrosil, and tried to speak again. "Kandra, or Fashelessh One. They are rare, zhey are few and they ssserfe Harmony. So initiating conflict with one iss not advised, nya" I was getting the hang of it. "Although you'd probably be able to overcome one with emotional allomancy. At leasht I believe so, nya. Still, if Harmony decides to interfere, we are done for. Also, they have excellent sense of smell, so he should be aware of our presence. As it decided to ignore us for now, we shouldn't be too obvious in our presense." My mind was still muddled. I shook my head again. "Now, Kandra here may mean several things. They are not allomancers, at least I've never heard of one. Most likely, he is carrying more of the Pathian earrings. That is what they are relatively well know for after all - converting people into Pathian religion, and giving them Hemalurgic earrings." I sighed. "Given the amount that you saw, he probably intends to use that terrisman as an intermediary. You should listen to what they say - your ears are better than mine, especially with Tin - , discreetly if possible. I hope that at least the human doesn't know of your presence." I stretched, hearing a few of my joints pop back into more proper alignment, and rummaged in my pack. Ah, there. "Still, I thank you for your concern. Nyext time please try to avoid Emotional Allomancy. Do you want some semi-dry fish with Tin and Electrum?"
  23. I was concentrated on my work, when suddenly a splitting headache hit me. Literally splitting - I could almost feel parts of my mind doubling and separating, and my left eye saw double as well. Curiosity? Anticipation? What? Emotional allomancy! Ever since I got the spike lodged in my brain it never worked right on me. I tapped on my Nicrosilminds to get the effects off, and looked around for the source, quickly spotting Alfie. For a moment, I was tempted to give him what for, to just burn Pewter and tap Nicrosil, and unscrew his spikes right in the middle of the train... Wait, what is he pointing at? I glanced in the direction of his paw, spotting a man disappearing into next compartment. What about him? A smell reached me then. It was faint, well below the level a human could smell it, and almost below my sensitivity, which was only about half of a cat's at the moment. It teased my memory... I couldn't remember. Maybe it was not my memory? I needed to smell it better, and maybe to remember. It seemed important. Very important... I tapped Investiture, directing it into my spike. I could feel her... us, and this time I didn't languish in blissful limbo. I fed her more power, and then gave up control, as My influence grew. The body followed suit, hemalurgical transformation fueled by excess Investiture. My cheeks split almost to the ears, revealing rapidly receding molars, my claws regrew, my nose widened and shortened, becoming pink, my fur grew more dense. Once the male was in control again, the body will revert, slowly if not fed more power, or rapidly otherwise. My testicles sunk into my body, although not all the way to their proper place. I could feel the human male hoping that nobody except Alfie noticed, but I didn't care, for what did old, dead cat care about such things? I could smell it better now. The smell of acid was in the air, already dissipating. I remembered now. My memory provided an image of a strange man in the alley way, throwing up his skeleton. The stench of acid was strong then, and I ran away, fearing for my life. The human memory provided an explanation. It was a Faceless one, a kandra, direct servant of the Harmony. He probably knew we were here. Harmony certainly did, and even if he haven't told his servant, kandras could smell even better than cats, and our smell was... wrong. I could feel human, my friend and master, wanting me to do something. He wanted to talk to that cat over there? Fine. I motioned to the cat to come. My time was running out, so I stretched in the warm light of the sun falling from a window and closed my eyes, feeling myself fading again.
  24. OK, let us consider known facts about Iron Feruchemy and see if we can make them coherent 1. Storing "weight" makes you lighter on your feet and more buoyant. Tapping "weight" makes you harder to move, i.e. you inertial mass at least grows. 2. You are immune to your own Feruchemy. Your body isn't crushed by additional mass, your heart does not explode trying to move blood that is heavier than molten uranium, etc. In fact, the body seems to act like your mass didn't change. 3. Your momentum and kinetic energy grow when "weight" is tapped (see Sazed closing the door, etc) 4. Yet your hardness, and, apparently, viscosity do not change (hardness depends largely on molecular bonds, and is less related to density. Viscosity for normal liquids is often - but not always - proportional to density). 5. As a summary, you apparently get immune to blunt trauma when "weight" is tapped but not cutting or piercing. Whether you get shockwave in your blood (forgot the proper name) from the impact, is unknown. 6. And also, you can move your body when "heavy", but you feel the weight, and after tapping enough "weight" will need more strength to actually walk. 7. Also, mass is the only thing that is increased. Temperature, for example, does not change, which suggests that kinetic energy of atoms/molecules does not change (although temperature is more complex than just kinetic energy). Ok, so here is the theory to explain all of those points, as far as I can tell: First, awesome math Let us define localized density rhol(V) as the mass of the part of the body with the volume V (called localization factor), divided by this volume V and averaged over all (connected?) subsets of body with the total volume V. V can run fro 0+ to total volume of the body. It is easy enough to see, that for a normal physical body, rhol(V) stays more or less equal for any V. My theory is, that for a Iron Feruchemist that is not so, and when the "weight" is tapped, Feruchemist's rhol starts depending on V (not sure if linearly or not), remaining the same for V near zero, and growing/falling to the full increased/decreased weight/mass. By this theory, how the action would affect you depends on its locality, which can be iffy to determine, but essentially related to the area of impact for wounds. Therefore, blunt weapons/trauma, with the largest area, are the least effective since they work against much larger total inertial mass (like hitting the bag of platinum sand), and sharp knife is the most effective. The Allomancy (pushing/pulling metals) works against the whole body. As for the body itself, it always works on the completely local level (V=0), so no changes take place per se. You still have to contend with gravity pull, but not locally. So your body itself moves as if it were in normal gravity, so you can move it as usual. Changing its position (position of the center of mass) relative the planet, however gets harder or easier - you get heavier or lighter at your feet (and do less damage with your fists). In case of Wax raising his arms, according to my theory, he would have to lower/ keep his center of mass - crouch a bit - to do that, but not too much. Now, onwards to metaphysics, or why would that work like above. According to my theory in my sig, all connections are stored in Spiritual realm. That includes gravity and inertial connections, which are spiritual according to Ars Arcanum in WoK. So, when "weight" is tapped, those connections get flooded with energy, but only external connections - those existing outside of your body as it perceives itself. So, when you attempt to move a part of the body, it would be affected proportional to how close it is to being your whole body, with bigger parts gaining generally more mass for interaction. Mind you, this is just a theory, but unless some other facts that contradict it are forthcoming, I'll stand by it.
  25. Well, first order of business - try tweeting Peter. It helped me, at least.
