Dalinar is somewhat special in that he essentially asks the Stormfather to make him a Radiant in order to lead the rest. After this, he starts hearing the screams of his blade and therefore is bonded. Most take this to mean that he was not bonded before this although as you have said, the visions also seem to come from the bond but this is not really know I suppose. It is an interesting quote. It may just be the way I read it, but it seems like the Ryshadium came before horses. I had always assumed that they were created from horses in a similar way to making an Aviar (an interaction between magic and regular animals) but with some kind of spren. .

Yeah. I believe I mentioned something like this before as well. I'm certain there were mentions of gardens on the balconies of Urithiru though. I assumed this meant that food could easily be grown there. Soulcasting is fine but stormlight is unlikely to be something that they wasted in large amounts when other methods were available. I agree. It is unlikely. Even if it were, it technically should be no different than if they were fighting humans. Aimians are obviously intelligent beings and I can't see (at least certain) Radiants being able to kill them indiscriminately in the same way it would likely be hard to keep to their oaths and kill humans. It isn't what they were designed for.

That is true but there was definitely fighting going on though. We don't know against who but fighting was something that was happening at the time of the Recreance: This was extremely unlikely to have been the Listeners or Voidbinders in my opinion. Do we know when the Scouring of Aimia happened? The use of devils has always confused me because it makes me think of non-human foes. I have also wondered if whoever they were fighting kept trying to fight after the Recreance occurred. I mean, if the Radiants were having an intense fight with them then what are the chances that normal men that just picked up shardblades would fare any better (especially when infighting would be common).

Tukks was unlikely to have ever left Alethkar. I doubt he was very high nahn. Not sure what to make of him using it. It is interesting with the ardent though. Especially with what he said afterwards. This is another mention. It is also less interesting because it is a quote from the codes and therefore not in Dalinar's words. But I suppose it may be proof that the word soil is used at least in regard to making something dirty.

Bendalloy, cadmium savants and Compounders
nervousnerd replied to Asasasyn in White's topic in Mistborn
I do often wonder if the price of bendalloy is due to rarity or difficulty making it. While it is as valuable as it is currently, I find it unlikely we will see a savant. It is also a power that doesn't have the same ability to slow burn while you are doing something else to become a savant (you can ignore blue lines with steel, keep copper and bronze on for ages); kind of boring to hang out in a tiny bubble for very long. Cadmium may be different. Slow burning. It sounds like Marasi could keep it burning for a whole day. -
When Wax tapped the coppermind, he kind of seemed to mention only towns and farmlands. The surviving people were huddled in a stone building. This may have been just one instance of the Sovereign helping the people but in my mind if they had cities he likely would have been shown there. Something seems to have held them back. I think their innovation age started with their introduction to Ettmetal.

I feel like if Trell were a planet destroying shard then Hoid would be more worried about it right now than Odium (who is partially contained). He seems more focused on Odium and much more involved in Roshar than Scadrial. I also feel that since Odium is the antagonist for (at least) the first five in Stormlight, we aren't likely to see another enemy shard like him just yet. I don't really think Trell is a shard though. I mean, maybe his power comes from investiture or it could be that his power is something else that we haven't seen yet. I just feel he is something else. Also, if he were a shard, what intent could he have?

It is likely that Kaladin is named after the herald (not sure if that is mentioned though) just like Shallan is with Shalash. It seems to be a somewhat common practice. There still may likely be parallels as you said.

Bonding with more than one spren
nervousnerd replied to Asasasyn in White's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think it more likely that closer orders such as those that share a surge might be better depending on the oaths. The truth Cryptics require seem to stem from lies people tell themselves and not just any truth. -
We know that dead shardblades can be thrown, so Kaladin could throw his spear at things. Technically it should be easier to throw live ones since they can come back immediately. We haven't seen any become anything with moving parts though (even as basic as a bow and arrow). A sheild or a spear are fairly simple changes; it may be that more complex things are harder. There must be some limit that we don't know though because Brandon loves the limitations almost more than the powers themselves.

Surgebinding While Using Shardplate
nervousnerd replied to Sand Master's topic in Stormlight Archive
Not meaning to steer the conversation off topic but with the minor spren theory: I get that Kaladin's armor would be made of windspren; they are the visible counterpart to honorspren. What would the other counterparts of spren be? Would Shallan's be creationspren? Pattern didn't seem to like them as Syl seems to enjoy windspren. What about the others? Has this been discussed?- 52 replies

Do you mean instead of Dalinar? But wasn't it proven that Dalinar's own knife which was on his person was used and wasn't Renarin not present some of the times it was done? I was unaware of this. I'm not entirely sure I can agree without more proof.
-
Yeah. If you are willing to to prevent causing untold death, you probably wouldn't be one to throw around knowledge and use power unnecessarily. Ok. After the Heirocracy. That was what was confusing me. Timelines are hard. Would seeing a dead shardblade be enough though? I suppose technically if he knew spren were shardblades it might be enough. Would Nightblood be sentient if he were based on non-sentient life? I had always assumed he made the sword become an idea like a spren.
-
Possibly. I think Kaladin heard a death rattle on one of the early bridge runs when he first started saving people (not Maps). Not sure how long after the first that was.

Did he die immediately after saying this? I thought it was too early to be a death rattle.

I wonder if Gavilar got to the writing a number on the wall stage.

I agree that the Listeners likely were pre-shattering (or at least pre-H/C arrival). They called it betrayal when spren bonded humans when they previously only bonded to them. Non-sentient spren creation would likely mean less need for power investment. Stormspren were not likely sentient but may just open you up to Odium's control. They also made you angrier and more prone to violence from what I saw. This may have been enough to get them to do what he wanted (I think Eshonai was the only stormform who was really resisting his plan.). All of the Listeners in stormform might not have even needed Odium's control to make them want to call a storm and fight the Alethi. Also, the Everstorm was a new creation (of old design). It may not be voidbinding at all.

Surgebinding While Using Shardplate
nervousnerd replied to Sand Master's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm not sure it is the gemstones. We haven't seen that effect in them before. Nale had to use a stormlight affecting bug or whatnot that was super expensive. Would he not use that easier method if it was available? Is there a gemstone on each part or just the body piece? I assumed it was only the chest plate. When Kaladin used the glove in the duel, it definitely absorbed all of his stormlight to stay together though so something about plate takes stormlight.- 52 replies

Yes and no. There were Radiants left after the desolations (some were mentioned in armor when the Oath pact was 'broken'). But many Knights and regular humans still died with their knowledge. One of Dalinar's visions showed Kholinar full of corpses and the Desolations were getting worse each time. I think knowledge was still lost during the Last Desolation because every other time the Heralds came back they had to teach everything again. Maybe the Radiants had some of the knowledge afterward but I can't see why they wouldn't share it if they did.

It isn't even a those. I doubt anyone but Lift has ever been able to do that. It came from the Nightwatcher.

Forgive my possibly confused timelines but so a couple of hundred years before WoK, Vasher saw a Shardblade and used it as a basis for Nightblood. I assume this would be a living spren shardblade in order for that to work, no? There were no living shardblades on Roshar (that we know of anyway, 9/10) since the Recreance. Did a Radiant visit Nalthis? That could be an interesting way for Vasher to have learned about worldhopping.

I think more interesting is whether he can retain stormlight perfectly. From what I remember, Breath does not slowly leak out of a person. If he can retain stormlight then it is a fairly readily available source to make him super powerful.

Taravangian says that he did not have the ability to see the future himself.
-
This is the thought. I think I have heard the other worldhoppers mentioned but it seems less likely (Mraize and his babsk). I do wonder what influence Hoid has had so far that was visible to Taravangian. He is more actively involved on Roshar than he has been in the past but we haven't seen any major effects yet besides on individuals like Kaladin and Dalinar.

Why Odium is a problem is that he is gods hatred without any of the other intents tied to it. If Odium were tied to other Shards, it would dilute the hatred and possibly only allow it to come out at necessary times. Depends on the Shard.
