As far as my values go, I think Hannibal went way over the line. Granted, it is a story about a cannibal, but I'd rather not go for that much.

Just watched the pilot of Hannibal. Seriously impressed with the mind games, though the gore is probably not worth it.

It's been my explanation. My current theory is that the Dor is so frantically searching for a holder/user/mind to hold it that it destroys anything that touches it. Sorta-kinda-not-really like the Mist Snapping people.

Elantris and Well of Ascension are both a bit slow, but they are worth it. Truly. Let's hold off on WoR, just because there isn't a sequel coming out for that one just yet.

The Dor is inaccessible outside of Sel, i.e., dependent on location, therefore, not Spiritual in nature. It is clearly not in the Physical Realm, so therefore, the Dor must be located in the Cognitive Realm. This was already thought to be true, but it's basically proven now.
