  1. I don't think he will "replace" Adolin with Kal in thinking of him and loving him as his son, but he may find him a more suitable 'heir' or 'continuer' for his work. This may free him to see and value Adolin more for his different qualities. Wishful thinking, me? nevah.
  2. Is Adolin not being married yet really such a big scandal? I seem to recall mention somewhere that it is perfectly OK for high-ranking, Light-Eyed men to marry (high-ranking, light-eyed) women much younger than themselves, if the match is deemed advantageous. Sure, he has a duty to one day produce an heir, but for him, the clock is not ticking so fast. At one point, Amaram of all people berates Adolin for being fickle in his affections. Thing is, who is Amaram to talk? How old is he? Old enough to be considered a good match for 34 year-old Jasnah. Has he ever been married? I somehow doubt that old King Gavilar would try to match his only daughter with a recent widower. Many people speak about Amaram throughout the two novels, but absolutely no one criticizes him for being a bachelor.
  3. No. The everstorm was summoned into existence by the song of the storm-bringer parshendi. Will it wane in strength until it wears itself out, or will it need to be "un-summoned" by a different parshendi-form-song? If the latter is the case, than they may need as many singers as they can muster.
  4. Did anyone else misread the thread title as Truthwatcher Death Battle? No? Just me then sounds like the ultimate staring contest of doom.
  5. I needed some good news today.
  6. It sure was a busy night for Gavilar (even before the point when some fool went and killed him). I assume all of this happens before the scene in WOR prologue, where Jasnah encounters Gavilar, still (or again) concocting secret plots with Meridas Amaram? These people were running all around the palace like mad things. In the same Prologue we also learn the Liss has brought Szeth with her to Kholinar, and has already sold him off to some unspecified person there (dude was to creepy for her. Too creepy for The Weeper, a paid assassin who cuts out the eyes of her victims)
  7. I binged the new season of Voltron on Netflix, for that perfect dose of nostalgia unmarred by confronting the unreliability of memory. Yeah, I used to watch the old series on Toonami way back in the day. No, I do not think I could watch more that a little bit of it now. Anyway, the new series if fun. Can't wait for the next installments
  8. Thank you for all these video links (in this and the other threads) Weiry! You are a storming wonder!
  9. Soooo... After images are caused by the way he died and was brought back. Means I Was wrong, but it's good to know for sure. New theory: How was Szethy's "death" different than any other character's? (Wait for it) He got a post-publication re-write! No wonder his soul isn't sitting properly in his body.
  10. Appendix to the Special edition all 10 Stormlight Archives box-set? Never give up hope.
  11. Anybody here ever paint with oil colors? Ivory black is a thing.
  12. *From my breath to yours; arise O thread* I resurrect this because apparently an adaptation is in the (early stages of the) works, and Lin Manuel Miranda is on board. Gorsh, are we looking at some species of... musical? I do hope everyone involved feels certain that book 3 will be out before it's time to film it.
  13. Thank you so much for sharing what you can, Djarskublar. Would never want to pressure you into posting something if it's not OK with team Sanderson. O, poor young Kaladin. His suffering are such sweet manna to my soul. That probably sounds very wrong.
  14. Just out of curiosity, did the admins say nay on posting that reading? If so, could we maybe get a few throwaway details from it? Some crumbs? A bone? A third-of-a-gopher?
  15. Poor Taln. Tortured for several thousand years and he doesn't even get a pancake. Lift needs to go find him and give him a hug.
  16. I concur with Kanrei, and furtherwonder how Sigzil's travels with Wit intersect with this timeline. Perhaps Sig has met Lift while he was world-singer-apprenticing with Hoid? I rather want this to be so.
  17. I don't know. Gawks died, and Lift revived him. She does not recall seeing him with such an after-image. Somewhere in all the WoR discussion, mention was made of a theory that Odium was "riding" with Szeth the night he came to assassinate Dalinar during the highstorm, and Syl and Pattern went berserk. Perhaps what Lift is seeing is Odium's influence?
  18. So they do have forks on Roshar. Has to be awkward for a proper Alethi lighteyed lady.
  19. I think 5 oaths make sense, because of the origin of the Knights radiant: the book-whithin-a-book Way of Kings. Nohadon's composed 40 parables, that's 4 per order. If you give each order one oath per story, plus the first oath (Life before death etc.) for everyone, that's five oaths per order (or five truths if you bond a lie spren).
  20. I hope it went somewhere nice.
  21. I have lost faith in this world.
  22. This sentence, especially out of context, is all too emblematic of the Cosmere fandom.
  23. Am I going loopy or is the face done in a different style than the rest? Almost looks like he photoshopped or traced over somebody's face. (probably someone I would recognize if I was ever in possession of such a thing as a clue)
  24. I went down nostalgia's wondering lane and watched the entire Spiderman animated show from the nineties. I used to love that show way back when, but I never saw any episode past the second part "The return of Hydroman". Finally, I have closure. Of a sort.
  25. Many Dark-eyed women cannot read. I think it's mentioned somewhere in WOK that Hesina is the only (dark-eyed) woman in Hearthstone who was literate. Yeah, I guess until we know more, staying ephemeral.
