I must be very stupid and weird. My takeaway from hearing “ Renarin most likely has a crush on Rlain” is to wonder how come he doesn’t instead crush on Kaladin. The dude is epic and gorgeous and has charisma oozing from every pore, not to mention his mad habit of rescuing Ren’s closest family members from desperate dangers. Come on, ye who delight in all speculative shipping ( I know you’re out there, I can hear you typing), explain this one to my dense, Stormblessed-loving self. Also... Rlain is currently in Warfom. He’s not male he’s malen. As in his current sexuality is “Not right now, please. Ask me again after the next highstorm”. Alone amongst humans, I can see many reasons why he would be hesitant to change into the much more emotionally and physically vulnerable mateform. Not to mention the whole war thing that is still going on (for 10 days, at least). Mebbe being a radiant makes a difference? How does parsh romance work anyway? So many questions the last book didn’t answer about that.

Yup. Between boon and curse, The Nightwatcher (or Mommy Cultivation) could have all kinds of fun with Vyre. I think we need to see someone go to her on-screen in ‘real-time’, not a flashback.

Wasn’t Szeth’s book intended to be “Stones Unhallowed”? So, KoW might still be specifically a Sninovar book, in-world. Um, Keepers of Weapons? (As in Honor-blades) Killer of Worlds? (History of Braise)

He might go to the Nightwatcher and ask her to give him sight again. That’s where I would take this character. It would open up possibilities.

I’m watching Neverwhere. Havenae seen it in nigh 20 years. The marquise The Carabas is still incredible, and Hunter is awesome. The Doctor... is an angel. edit: legend has it that Lenny Henry asked Neil Gaiman to write a show sympathetic to the homeless of London, and this was the result. I can dig it.

“El” does mean ‘God’ in many semitic languages, Hebrew being one, natch. Originally, it was the name of a specific Canaanite god, later it became a word that means god. Incidentally, Rabon is a word for king or ruler in Hebrew. Raboniel literally means ‘my ruler is El/God’ (or ‘God is my ruler’).

I was going to mention that, ^, but then I remembered what the Lopen learned about the Reshi King in the beginning of Dawnshard. If Leshwi, despite being Fused, can bond a spren and become Radiant (in 10 days or fewer), anything’s possible.

Oh, he will not flip at all now. and the 10 day limit was imposed by Odium after the resolutions at Urithiru. My money is on Szeth for ToD’s champion. Wanna start a pool?

At the climax of the last book, Odium agreed to a contest of Champions. And then, his chosen champion slipped out of his fingers. What he now needed was a new champion. Someone Dalinar will find hard to fight. Having Dalinar have to fight this specific person should by itself be a breaking challenge. A major part of Rhythm of War was Odium’s attempt to Reach and Bind this new champion. Almost worked, but Dalinar (via the Stormfather) managed to get to him at the last moment (being able to “stop time” is a genius cheat for last-minute saves). The way Kal ripped The Defeated One apart at the end... he was right where Odium wanted him to be.

Finished the book last night. Still can’t with coherent thoughts and sense of them making. *mind blown* loved the “Die Hard: Urithiru” sections. Kal continues to be my favorite. Ooohh Teft! I’m not crying. so storming much. Raboniel and Navani, Dabbid finally getting his moment. Ishar a mad unhinged bondsmith surgeon genius experimenting on and killing corporeal spren. I for one can’t wait for the next book: Szeth and Kal off to Shinovar. One’s a moody-awesome superhero with pstd, one’s and unhinged soul-shattered maniac with a god eating sword. Together they fight crime reform Heralds. Will that final battle in 10 days be a third final contest between these two?

Has anyone made a stormlight tarot deck? Besides All the pretty heralds as major arcana, we can also have Dalinar as The Tower, Wit/Hold as (naturally), The Fool, and Ol’ Kaladin Stormblest as The Hanged Man.

Restares. I’ve been wandering about him since he made his one walk-on in-text appearance in Kaladin’s penultimate flashback in WOK. Was kinda hoping Kal would get to confront him, but maybe he’ll eventually get over his brands some other way. Very interesting and tantalizing chapter. BTW, the bird could be a Kea.

We saw Roshone and Laral. The only person who ever voiced an objection to that union was Kaladin. When he did, his parents told him that those kind of marriages are not uncommon among Lighteyes.

Easy there tiger. Some animals are sexually dimorphic, others, at least from a human perspective, not so much (I suspect other gerbils manage yo tell male and females apart, but the species continues, so they probably do). Humans are, generally, sexually dimorphic*. Parsh are human. Sort of. They're also not human. They're a fantasy construct 'human' that diverge from earth biology as we currently strive to understand it. I suppose I under-estimated the difference. Honest question: Do they get physically taller and shorter when they change forms? Between individuals (regardless of sex) How much variation in body shape, facial features, do they show? That is, how easy are they to tell apart from each other? Does one do so mostly by the color patterns (the way some old-fashioned farmers could tell their holsteins apart)? I get that to the average Alethi "they all look alike". Kaladin has always taken care to notice people as individuals. Maybe he's just seen Leshwi in so many different [dead parsh people] bodies over the past year, it's not remarkable anymore. I wonder if he would have noticed if she changed outfits (and how often would she need her swanky new outfits re-tailored? no wonder she wants members of her household trained in sewing). In WOK, Dalinar is partially blinded by his cultural assumptions: In Alethy society only men go to active battle. Women do not walk around without proper torso (left arm!) covering. He assumes a parshendi he is seeing on the battlefield wearing only a skirt is male. Frankly, if that is the very first time it occurred to him to question that assumption, he has shown a remarkable lack of intellectual curiosity. Also, I got the impression that until Rlain returns to Bridge 4 in Warform, the Alethi did not realize that the Listeners had the ability to switch between forms. To clarify: Men,on average, tend to be physically bigger that women, have squarer jaws, grow beards, etc. Of course there is also a great variety in size and face-shape between members of the same sex, so, of course, some women are taller than some men. Compared to members of most species, humans are very individually distinct.

Possibly. Maybe his view have evolved from the beginning of OB when he bluntly assumed Lyn just wanted to be a scribe and had some qualms about being brutal with a 'girl' spear. Maybe he has internalized some lessons from Rlain about the norms of Listener society.

But... but that implies Leshwi had a bit of a stubble when she fought Kaladin. He had no problems, (none are mentioned in his chapters) telling malen and femalen singers apart when he was hanging out with the runaway slaves in the beginning of Oathbringer. And he had to notice enough detail to recognize Leshwi as Leshwi in whatever body she was inhabiting.

Whoa, did that come from a WOB? Is she the younger sister then? Because if she isn't, the math really doesn't add up: Do we know how old Eshonai was during the OB prologue (when Gavilar tells her his secret plans).

I can't get over this Leshwi being in a male-en body in this incarnation. How did Kaladin not notice? Is my boy gender-blind or just uber-mad "woke"? He can recognize Leshwi, no matter what new body she takes, but he doesn't notice anything about the specific body.

Speaking of heroic story formulas, where is Hoid when you really need him? shouldn’t the universe tell him to head to Urithiru stat and ply some of his patented parabolic prose therapy at a perpetually petulant Protagonist? sorry for letting the alliteration run away with me.

Kaladin remembers that he had talked to Mash (and Rock and Teft) about Tien And about his fears and “failures”. I really wanted to see that conversation Happen “on-screen”. Is anyone else imagining a Bridge Four “Discuss all the ways you are broken meeting / honor-spren try outs”? Come as you are. Excellent stew. Also, Renarin for president. This shipping of Kaladin and Leshwi is very strange to me. Honorable she may act on the field of battle, but is she not, in essence, an undead abomination who kills parshendi women to take over their bodies? If her next “incarnation” was one of the women Kal befriended in the beginning of the last book, I do not think he would find that cute.
