  1. That's kind of what I'm questioning, yes, given that that D1 was utter hell to go through,
  2. Wha-? Edited to add: You did the heroics of reading an 11+ page D1 of a game you didn't IM or play...?
  3. Consider the tone hopeful, with some amount of please say yes because I don't really want to have to look for it I know he might have commented about making a count mistake in Szeth's QF64 because I distinctly recall Stick asking him why he'd've made such a mistake. Read-wise, I've got nothing. Felt DeTess was quick to V!read when they differed in approach, felt Xino is substituting long strategy wallpost for actual V contribution which feels more or less in the same sort of heat > light ballpark Archer is concerned about. Feel my last Xino read was pretty mistaken (your game I think? LG93 maybe?) so IDK I feel confident in ascribing one without actual backreading through more recent Xino playhistory. But no, I don't feel that's a good look, at least. Christ I've badly failed my goal not to get involved haven't I.
  4. Dislike Archer's latest post, feel V!Archer should know better. Ruin hunting feels more in vibe with Archer's view that Elims should be focusing on work that generates more heat than light. Araris's vote feels opportunistic on a LHF train and arguably, again points to likelihood more work being done in doc. (FWIW I've been growing the rave doc. It's hard work but we're getting there through DJing and a bunch of pretty sea turtles and colours and recreational substances. And some dancing.) Not convinced by Fifth's response - arguing you want to principle lynch a Villager is shooting yourself in the foot given Fadran's relative newness and unnecessarily punitive. Fifth should know better and this feels more like Fifth looking for an easy train. Tfw I sus both Archer and Fifth and one of them is voting with me on the other. Ffs. Should've stayed with the rave, gone with the flow. Oh well. Kind of made this post because I wanted to solidify the train but I also DN. Ties are good, but only mid-cycle, when there's time to take temperature and check reactions. And I miiiight've thought there was an extra vote on Alpha so I thought it was actually a tie. IDK really. I can buy Alpha paralysis and I don't like exeing players who are having a hard time getting into a game. Quite simply, that makes me hesitate. It feels like you're punishing the player for not being able to get on with it, which is a bit nasty. Your team explicitly noted this in LG94 and exploited it to get me to hesitate D1 when I was making an Alpha push and to decide to give Alpha more time. I also GMed Alpha in a game where he didn't really get why everyone was @ing him for not solving, so I can't say I'm particularly eager to do the same in a V!Alpha world. I suppose I'm still willing... Bah okay. Between Fifth and Alpha, I guess I'd be more willing to vote Alpha so let's just do that. Alpha. I'm willing to change my vote or just not participate at all, depending on Alpha explicating his thought process a bit more, and how I feel about the options I guess. My Archer case boils down to the fact he's doing the same busywork he believes Elims do, and a sense that most of his votes this cycle are fairly opportunistic. Which puts me in an awkward position when I agree with the Fifth vote but ig SE be that way. Edited to add: Wasn't the last time Xino made a mistake vote-wise enough to early vote in LG91 with E!Xino?
  5. Believe DeTess vote on Alpha is missing Damn I could've sworn there was a second Alpha vote HMM. Fifth's widening on Turtle is definitely odd. I seem to have gotten ninjaed by Aman at some point and CBA to rework this. Low amount of presumably-Village voting and crem-giving is pretty disturbing - or would be if I were actively invested or minded to get out there. #FeelsGood to have committed to not caring that much. People should probably consider consolidating, or forfeiting the right to grumble when a result they dislike, e.g. a tie and yet another no exe, appears next Turn.
  6. Eh I don't think it's affecting my read of you, to the degree I am trying not to have reads I just thought it was weird coming from Fadran and when I relook, it's not from Fadran and so I'm more cool with it. I feel it's weird but it doesn't feel like an E perspective slip to me. If anything, I feel weakly positive on it because it's such an unorthodox view that it doesn't feel like it emerges from a guy with a faction doc. Fifth's vote there doesn't feel super natural I will add
  7. K, I re-read to fish the quote and I'm taking it back, you're the one who used the explicit reference, Fadran didn't. There is a bit of a fundamental misunderstanding of the wincon from Fadran and...IDK Fifth bro, I almost kind of like it? It's just such a weird comment lol literally every V/E game has the Village need to kill everyone else to win and the Elims just have to outnumber and there's no inherent faction kill.
  8. Hmmm. It do be that way sometimes ye. There's a chess subscription, and an anagrams one. Maybe one for Death Stranding LP videos but I'm done with DS LPs atm, back to TFU because I have no idea how I managed to clear the game before, now it's really challenging. Or it's possible my PS3 reflexes are screwing me here now that I'm playing on PC. AC2 isn't so bad because the button layout maps to actions but uh, when I need combos, it's....not as easy. Getting to slap around an AT-ST with Force push and lightning is a trip though, I'll give it that. I'm saying that you guys do fit a particular profile I've been monitoring, but also do I really wanna press it? It's effort and I don't play with this particular set enough /shrug Hmm. Maybe, I guess. IDK about Fadran rn. Probably why I'm pressing anyway.
  9. I sometimes think it's worth trying to articulate the inexplainable even if you will fail >:P For instance, Death Stranding and Beached Things >> It isn't, no, but in general I sometimes think it's worth throwing things out in thread just to see what people say about it. I can't guarantee wanting to analyse it though! Subscription to the Analysis Module is currently unavailable >:P E.g. You, Araris, Elan, and Fifth are very much in my <Sort of There And Not There and I Don't Like That> category, I'm sorry to say Oh?
  10. I will say that I feel that the problem is that this is Szeth. V!Szeth has a tendency to get E!read quite a bit for having really weird takes he digs his heels in on. IIRC he tunnelled on you or someone in early QF66, and then there was that tunnel on me in early LG91. I'm sort of used to that kind of approach from him at this juncture, and it just feels sincere to me so I have a gut V read. I'll also note I feel V!Szeth is somewhat more proactive than E!Szeth. Agreed that Gorilla isn't much of a comparator and if I were hardworking, I'd probably check his E game in the QF I ran ages ago (QF54, I think), but there's at least some sincerity rather than performativeness that I'm getting off him so I am ok with this D2 read for now current effort level. I feel like this game should have more Elim thread disengagement than less, due to the extensive number of rules and the fact they have docs in which to puzzle these things out. I do respect Szeth's willingness to go out on a limb here, and the Alpha thing from him reads in his MO at least. This guy gets it. Alpha did spend a decent chunk of QF66 being uninterested in solving, which is where you and I kind of want to say Aman or someone else but I forget who - @ him for it. And I recall him being genuinely puzzled over it. But the interest in solving also clearly emerged later in the form of interactions and questioning. Case in point: This is the final cycle of QF66. Alpha reacts to Devo getting exed: Response to TBB on who to vote for: Reaction to Aman's I Told You So: Late mention of need to consolidate: Like I won't pretend this is amazing but it is proactive and it is at least thread interest, IMO. Which feels more natural than what Alpha's been putting out so far. IDK how much busy work to expect given how much doc work the Elims will probably be putting in. Part of me genuinely does want to give Alpha a shot and is ??? at DeTess immediately bringing Alpha up this cycle. I guess: Ok. @TheAlpha929: Why TBB, Mat, or me? Walk me through your thought process here. what vibes bro Edited to add: Sudden thought/curiosity: @Matrim's Dice, do you recall if Fadran has played a faction game before? If not, where does this expectation come from?
  11. I don't particularly want the Village to do anything. The Village will do whatever the hell it wants. In an ideal world, we would have made a consensus N0 to begin with, but if I'd wanted to hard-Kas this game, I'd've made a stronger entrance and argument N0 instead of not giving a damn and holding back. Well, you've clearly solved the Shard problem when there's a grand total of two Shards released, which is exactly what you wanted to happen. I congratulate you I don't really care to dictate to the Village a strategy and I think I'm more interested in what there's common consensus to do, simpliciter. If we all get on board and agree we want Shards out, then go ahead. If we don't, then maybe we should focus on actual, normal Village thread work. I'm just sick of seeing whinging every cycle about: wElL thAt wAs N0t As MAny SHarDs AS I WaNtED oUT and I'd rather we get it out of our systems. There are many ways to skin a cat in this game and the fact I've been holding back as much as I am clearly indicates I'm done with playing Village instigator this game. Sorry Frost, I'm on vacation. We're probably going to try to hit every world at this point at least once. You can don't like it. I don't really give a damn, since none of my goals in this game fortunately involve doing things you like I've stated what I want to do. How you want to behave about it, including voting me, is a you problem, not a me problem. Keep in mind that in the case of Autonomy, there's no Intent Conversion just because the Shard passes. Which means that if the Shard passes to a Villager, the Villager still SDs with Autonomy in Containment. The Correct Village Thing to do is to hop to Silverlight and yeet the Shard back in ASAP because changing factions is no bueno compared to Intent Conversion. Whether people will do the Correct Village Thing is another question though. Future note for people who share a planet with an Avatar: maybe don't tell the Avatar that their mother was a hamster, their father smelled of elderberries, and that Autonomy sucks at parenting. He's definitely a bit more chill about getting voted. But at the same time, I sort of feel the Fae vote was a bit LHF and I get concerned about LHF votes from Mat. Edited to add: Why don't I? I've expressed repeatedly that I don't particularly care if I get exed for it. And suppose an Elim decided to convert me anyway. Expecting to be hard-read for it is stupid and counterproductive and actively Village harming and that is something I'd rather not encourage. LG83 has shown that I historically can't succeed in disengaging completely from a game. I am trying to do so here. But you also don't get to tell me I don't get to choose exactly how helpful I want to be, or to vary it with my mood on a given day. I get to do just that and I'm going to do just that. How you want to behave about it and what you want to do about it is a you problem, not a me problem.
  12. I've already stated I don't think it's psychologically plausible to persuade players to leave the Shards alone, which is why I mention it in passing. The real reason I brought it up is I might have a plan to help the Village ensure we can actually secure Shards instead of repeating this "Omg why so few Shards guys" thing again and again, which depends but I'm not sure I'm a fan of this plan, so /shrug. It also depends on whether inactives or low activity players like Walin and Fae are Village. If they are, gg, because our effective numbers are lower. And also quite frankly I have had enough of being screwed by the Village so I am not really planning to waste my holiday time hopping to Silverlight to do it. In light of all of that, I don't know if the plan will work as well as it does on paper. Yep. Which is why I said it doesn't work in a game where staying on Silverlight and freeing a Shard is considered Evil. Good luck convincing people to not want Ultimate Shardic Power in a game based on Shards though. I suppose the other thought at the back of my head is especially Autonomy's SD wincon because I agree with Turtle that it's genuinely concerning. If we overfocus on Shards and Shardic powers, we can easily be overwhelmed in mid to late game when Autonomy has the full six Avatars and can produce six charges per cycle, which is quite likely to outpace our ability to dump them, especially if we don't watch how many Charges we are carrying. (You can't tap a Shard that's not in Containment after all, and the Shards are unlikely to want to spend their Shardics giving Charges and being treated like living batteries.) I don't think it's a reason to take our foot off the throttle with regard to Hoid or Khriss since we need all of them dead and one dead Elim is as good as another, but it's definitely something to be managed carefully because it's extremely easy to blunder into it (Odium charges will create a +3 deficit in favour of Autonomy!) and then we lose. If they are close to outnumber wincons, we probably don't even have Shardic control. It can't be both ways. My view is still that SD wincon forces the Elims to act in revealing ways, and I prefer forced errors to us helping them out, but I also didn't think it was ever going to be realistic to ask players to renounce the Evil of Shards, so I was more trying to think through how many we really want, and working out a way to solve the coordination problem.
  13. Actually. No. The more I think about it, the more it feels sincere (even if I think it's the wrong read.) I also think it's a bold read for E!Szeth to make due to fog-of-war, and I'm not sure Szeth seeks to defend a teammate here. Ehhhhh I really don't want to re-read LG91 so I'll just gut this for now and move on. Szeth Mat
  14. The Elims...who will be the only ones conspicously not on any Shardworld but Silverlight in a world where the Village agrees to not actually touch the Shards? How are they going to coordinate to remove the Shards? Wouldn't they have to know each other's identities first, as the two teams don't communicate? (Leaving Bavadin out as Bav's a more complicated SK without a kill unless Bavadin did get Odium in which case, congrats VOCALS, I guess you're an SK now.) If it's lategame, why do you need to put them back into containment? Just kill everyone who isn't Village. A Village at that level of consolidation, who can afford to 'just put Shards back into containment', has already effectively won their primary wincon and doesn't have to care about SD wincon. The point of every Shard except Autonomy starting off in containment is that we are insanely close to the Village's SD wincon being fulfilled with the deaths of Bavadin, Khriss, and Hoid. The point about SD wincons is that they're supposed to make other factions act suboptimally to try to stop you from getting too close to them, e.g. us having to dump actions on charges to keep Autonomy from surprising us with SD wincon. The interesting thing is that both Hoid's SD and Khriss's SD require the Shards to be released (in fact, Khriss's is insanely impracticable because if they have that many Shards, we've lost the plot and the game anyway), so the fact you are extremely attached to the Shards doesn't seem like a good sign to me, but I don't know how much weight to put on that. How are they going to coordinate? To quote you, this feels...optimistic. Do you literally knock on the door of every player not in your faction and go, "Hey just asking, I think you might be Evil, are you?" Szeth/Alpha possible E/E?
  15. Serious question. How much do we care about jailbreaking Shards? My personal views are that keeping the Village SD wincon allows us to exert serious pressure on the Elims and SK in this game. I'm of the view not everyone will agree because Shard game, fancy Shardic powers and whatever and have never bothered mentioning this for multiple reasons including that it's so psychologically unrealistic I don't even want to talk about it. But I'm also kind of tired of people complaining that Shards aren't coming out fast enough.
  16. I hesitate to say this, as I also hesitated in LG94 as I generally don't want to really be saying that I don't believe a player if they're struggling to get into the game. I will note though that your team actively encouraged Alpha to hide the E!lack of WiM by appealing to playstyle changes and the fact the game is different/trying things out, so yeah, I'm not necessarily sure I am reassured either. I am willing to give Alpha a bit of time, and would be interested if Alpha can give us three reads (any player, doesn't matter). That being said, I am also not particularly attached to whether Alpha does survive this cycle or not. I am not full-Kasing this game and don't intend to, highstorm raves have been great, the DAOist tRAVEling circus is moving on to the next world, hopefully Drake joins at some point, despite my constant inability to not solve I guess but I'd highlight QF66 (short game anyway) as an instance of V!Alpha getting accused of lack of interest in solving but slowly building up interest over the game. Edited to add: To be clear - the point of the last paragraph is that I do believe that V!Alpha demonstrates that WiM by engaging with the game in small ways. The fact this is not happening makes me feel a bit eh. @TheAlpha929 I guess this is how I'd put it. Yes, this is a faction game. If you're a Villager, this translates to: extremely complicated game with two Elim teams and an SK (for now.) The two Elim teams do not know who each other are. All of the rest of the rules are window dressing. The beating heart of a SE game continues to be in the thread and this goes back to the same set of core skills/things we do in every game: read posts, analyse votes, try to understand if the player is coming from a Villager mindset, or (in this case), not-Village mindset. Contra Mat and Fadran, I do not particularly care if a player is our fancy SK, Elim Team #1 or Elim Team #2. My wincon requires them all to be dead so it's that simple for me. There are complicating factors, but at core, treating this like any other game when you look at the Day thread is a good starting point, and you've definitely been able to do this in your past Village games. If you are genuinely feeling overwhelmed, bracket all the rules for a moment and just take a good hard look at D1 (well, Nights too but at the very least, D1) and go from there. Edited to add #2: Archer engaging in public guessing games over Ruin's identity is interesting. N0 is probably the night with the highest chances of a Villager actually getting the Shard unless the conversion hit first, so it's worth asking what's gained Village-wise by focusing energy on solving for Ruin.
  17. Yeah, I'm down with that, as I believe lack of WiM is a significant E!Alpha tell. I'm more curious about your line of thought here. I will say I don't think they're Bavadin, based off how VOCALS has been acting in Roshar, having also seen how Alpha behaves offscreen. Having been converted is certainly very possible here. Slight wariness of the comment they could have been converted as I believe Elims often like to emphasise this more in order to justify eroding reads certainty. At the same time, this would be an odd move given you were also the one to have entrenched Alpha in the first place. (Interested in why you left the convert possibility out the previous Day.) I would argue this makes more sense regardless because I expect Hoid and Khriss and Bavadin to all be hiding in the low activity but present/under the radar tier. They're not here to stir controversy though I imagine if they can get off free lynches on the other faction, they will. Probably an asterisk for players like Archer, but regardless, the sweet spot to be is overlooked, rather than obviously inactive. In light of which: Szeth. Get worse vibes from STINK tbh (cf. MR56 janitor) but don't want to vote on a returnee anytime before C3 given how long STINK has been missing. ...I'll keep trying to stay out of this >>
  18. Basically the main two possibilities. Odd question given claims this is a faction game. You'd imagine that'd be the biggest factor grounding a 'this doesn't work like V/E though' in your head. Question for you. I re-read and on seeing your reasoning on Hoid and Khriss wrt Alpha, I don't disagree. Since Shards can't be converted, Hoid and Khriss withholding the conversion sort of winds them into trouble because it gives the Village a free shot at getting unconvertable players. The longer/more they withhold, the worse it gets. Logically, converting N0 was the reasonable move. Which means that having done an action N0 in a soft-confirmed way is a good look. Is your line of thought then that E!Alpha lied about burning a charge and is teamed with Drake? (Because I agree that I'm not a fan of Alpha's lack of WiM, and tend to find that characteristic of E!Alpha. He did get @ for lack of WiM as well in the QF I just finished GMing but I believe that was extremely early game.) I Tried ;-; also it is not a reads list i swear it is not a reads list it is Just Thoughts I TRIED ;-; look im still tryin u don't give up on ur plan if it is a good one smh don't stop belieeeeeevin hold on to that feeeeeeliiiin yeaaaaah roshar people livin just to fiiiiiind emotion brb lemme see if I can get VOCALS on this! So am I, I just loaded up the DLC too! I'd prefer no sheeping. That's sort of the point of exkasperated thread thought dump, in case anything doesn't make sense. Not the worst that we have low breaches. Does indicate a chronic lack of coordination, but that's the way these things are, and I'm not opposed to the world in which fewer Shards are out of containment since if we can mow our way through Hoid, Khriss, and Bavadin before too many breach, we can just stuff the last two back and call it a day and SD wincon. (Dunno how well this plays with Intent Conversion, tbf.)
  19. That's a lot more confidence than you showed in LG94 - you were more unsure of Mat on D1. The tone here is more confident and assertive of the read rather than muddled, and I'd wondered if it was E confidence but remembered belatedly the factional nature of this game means that E!you (any faction, not picky) wouldn't be speaking out of E!confidence since all you know is that I'm not on your team.
  20. I'm talking about your reads assertiveness. I feel you waffled more about Mat in LG94 and are more assertive about your reads here. To be fair, this is hampered by the fact that if you're say, Hoid or Khriss, you have no way of knowing if which faction a player belongs to (17S, Hoid, Khriss, Bavadin), so I think I'm talking myself into regarding it as being less indicative than I'd otherwise think.
