There's not nearly enough salt about [Secret History Spoilers]
Pathfinder replied to FeatherWriter's topic in Mistborn
That is incorrect. I can quote the passage, but the order of operations was, Kelsier shows up and looks around. Leras shows up, and says souls go to the great beyond and that mare is there, and then Keliser see other souls, with peaceful happy looks on their face fade away. Kelsier then says he wants to figuire out how to stay. It is only later that Leras admits he does not know what is in the great beyond. Now I am not saying you did this, but I think I was very nice with how I said I have my own view. Not sure why I was downvoted for it. edit: thank you to whoever balanced out the downvote. -

Now this comes down to our own personal interpretation of what occurred, so anything I assert, please do not take me as saying it is wrong, but merely how I came to view Kelsier's actions. You stated that you do not feel Kelsier's main motivation wasn't self and survival. Yet when Leras popped up and said "hey, you get to go be with Mare, which is what you told everyone is what you really wanted. Just let yourself be pulled away to the great beyond." If he wasn't focused on himself, or survival, that sounds like a no brainer to me. But instead, his first thought is, "hmmm I am not as dead as I thought I was, so there is a chance I can stick around, and maybe even go back. Time to pull a con.....". Going to the great beyond isn't being about "eaten by lions", its about getting to come home to a nice bed to rest after a very long and grueling day at work. Or at least that was the imagery I got from Leras. You get to be at peace. As to Ruin being a threat, the very realm Kelsier inhabits is connected to Scadrial, which at that point is the only planet he knows exists. the only place period he knows exists. If Ruin makes it go poof, what happens to Kelsier? Now we know he could try and find a way to go elsewhere. We know or at least think that if Scadrial goes splodie, the cognitive realm would still exist, just not as Kelsier knows it. But Kelsier doesn't know any of this. All he knows is the planet he is connected to, and wants to return to in a normal body is going to get destroyed because of Ruin. Now I am not saying he doesn't care about his crew members. Nor am I saying his fight against Ruin is not altruistic. I am just saying he doesn't start saying "people are in need, how can i help them?". He starts with "I am in need, how can i help me?" Then after the fact his actions either inadvertently help, or he decides to help along the way. As I type this, I think deep down that is partly why Marsh hated him so much. Marsh genuinely wanted to help people but it didn't always work out. Kelsier doesn't aim to help people, somehow does, and then spins it to make people think that is what he intended all along and they love him for it. Now like you said, lets look at what got him dead in the first place. When we got his POV in Secret History, it didn't start with "And now I sacrifice myself to give the crew and the skaa a better life". His first thought was "Ok now let me burn malatium to kill the lord ruler. Storms, it didn't work. Well that sucks. Well I got my backup plan which will still screw over the lord ruler and kill him. Ha! oh yeah and people might have a better life. cool!" Again his primary goal was to take out the lord ruler. A side bonus is the people he cares about and the skaa in his mind will benefit. But the primary motivation is again, do the one thing no one else has ever done, kill the lord ruler. Kill a "god". Now this is also not to say that Kelsier does not grow. As he progresses in the story of Secret History I do feel he learns that he is actually a very small fish in a very big pond and that becomes humbling to him. Only thing is, it is not so humbling that at the end he isn't still up to his old antics to find a way to preserve himself by getting a new body and coming back. Just another handy by product is he saves the southern scadrialians. So TLDR, Kelsier may be a "good guy", but he certainly doesn't intend to be in my opinion lol. -
Normally I agree, but a lot of peoples point is that if you have a compounder, then they have limitless speed, strength, and healing plus all the abilities of a mistborn utterly cracked out. Even a herald moving fast with stormlight just mimics pewter speed, while a compounder literally gets bullet time. However that does not take into account the other abilities the radiants possibly have, and what those combinations will result in. So I am still hopeful lol.

So total conjecture, but wasn't silence divine the story where people are on an upside down planet or some such? Where down is sky? So could Vax be this planet, that he questions because he is surrounded by mist, or to his eyes clouds?

[M:Secret History Spoilers] This character could be...
Pathfinder replied to Natans's topic in Mistborn
Also Iyalte(totally butchered the spelling) is stated to be Mraize's Babsk, or the person who is training the apprentice. Given that the assumption is that Kelsier is the Sovereign (i know there are those that disagree, but i am going on the premise that most people do think he is) then he would be the founder of the southern scadrians including the hunters, which iyalte seems to be a member of albeit a member that was born on a different planet from scadrial, and then moved to roshar. So how would the founder of your very people, end up being your apprentice? -
[Secret History Spoilers] Nefarious exports/imports

I was given the impression that using Bronze to sense any investiture took some practice or knowledge. Otherwise why would a bronze misting need so much training to be able to sense when a feruchemist taps his abilities? -
[Secret History Spoiler] Implications about another world?
Pathfinder replied to Mael's topic in Mistborn
Well people theorize that the "Haunted Man" is Nahz on Scadrial shooting shades from his "gun" -
Yep that is after. The scene on the bridge is just TenSoon saying that Harmony sent Lessie to be a body guard, that he didn't know who Bleeder was till a few days ago and wasn't allowed to tell Wax when he did know because Harmony foresaw a disaster if Wax was told who he hunted. As to forcing Lessie, he urged her to get Wax to go back to Elendel. But he never took control of her and made her. She was always a dutiful kandra that did anything she was told. So Harmony pushing her on the matter felt forced to her. But he did not coerce her. And as I said he did not make Bloody Tan grab her as he did. He may not have stopped it, but he did not make it happen. Lessie kept saying that if Harmony knew everything how could he let them fall in love, or her get killed, but in Bands of Mourning he explains how although he can see the future it is difficult, and what level of intervention is allowable? Lessie was deranged at that point due to the alien spike's influence. So much so that when she passed, she was at peace with Harmony and just asked him to watch out for Wax. edit: i can quote those sections too if you like, i only paraphrased it because it is a long scene

This is entirely a personal opinion, but I feel Brandon saying Kelsier is a psychopath is more for the fact that Kelsier has no problem just killing anyone associated with nobles. They cease to be seen as a person, but a means to an end. Does that necessarily hold to the classical definition? No idea. I think it is more from just an ordinary person outside looking in, would think anyone that can callously end a persons life is a psycho.

New post due to new info, found the scene you were referring to. Given you were going on audible and it has been a while, recalling it incorrectly is understandable. here is the direct quote: Wax speaking ""He sent her to me, Marasi. He sent a kandra to seduce me." "No," Marasi said, firm. "He sent a bodyguard to watch over you in the Roughs. I spoke to TenSoon. The seduction was her idea. And yours, presumably." "Harmony knew," Wax said hoarsely. "He saw what would happen" "Maybe He didn't" "Then what kind of God is He? What good is a God like Him, Marasi? Tell me that." So as you can see, Marasi said it was Lessie (Bleeder) and Wax who seduced each other by falling for each other. Harmony never entered into the matter.

Scenes as with certain words or sentences, so then I can pull it up quickly on my kindle for reference. Thank you. I will try to locate it with the information you have given me so far.

Can I ask that you cite where you read those parts because I do not recall reading any of that. Lessie never went to Harmony to suggest seducing Wax. They fell in love organically, despite what her or Harmony wanted. She was to befriend him and keep an eye on him so he isn't killed while bumbling around in the Roughs. Secondly, it is stated right in the book Harmony never took direct control of Lessie prior to the events of Shadows of Self. The only time he did was after she became a homicidal manic, and Wax put the bullet through her skull as a spike. Everything you have stated is your own interpretation of the narrative. As I said there is a WoB that Bloody Tan was not controlled by Harmony. It is also stated that Harmony did not control Lessie to get shot in the past. So I am unsure where you are getting this information and claiming it as fact.

[Secret History Spoilers] Have we seen him since?
Pathfinder replied to Night Eyes's topic in Mistborn
Unless that spike is largely tied into him inhabiting his body. In which case, removing it or any other spikes he may or may not have would be problematic. -
The entire conversation was Harmony saying that he tries not to interfere, which is shown in the fact that he did not stop Lessie and Wax from falling in love with each other. Lessie was originally supposed to watch over Wax and make sure he doesn't die. Harmony never ordered her to seduce him. In fact when they fall in love Harmony suggests against it, but again does not force them. Finally Harmony wants Wax to go back to Elendel but again, does not force. There is WoB that Bloody Tan was not controlled by Harmony. So Lessie's death was not arranged by Harmony. Finally the only time he considered controlling Lessie was when she became a homicidal maniac. If anything it is Harmony's non-interference that Wax has an issue with, to which Harmony replies asking Wax how much is he to interfere? Where is the line? Down that path leads to ultimate control and loss of free will. A point which Wax eventually relents to. Finally Harmony points out that had Wax known it was Lessie, he would not have been able to pull the trigger, the very action that after this conversation, Wax admits had to be done. It is then Harmony attempts to heal Wax's sense of self guilt and pain over blaming himself for Lessie's death. For when Wax had blamed Harmony, he was in fact blaming himself for not being able to figure out some other way to save her. For her not to die. So at least in my opinion, Harmony has nothing to apologize for.
-
Also Wax was rather understandably distracted regarding the party and the stress with returning to "that world"
-
There is a new WoB stating that the being that was Adonalsium was killed to be shattered.
-
So I recall a WoB somewhere that flowing blood was a big part of what made hemalurgy work. You pick the right bind point, you have the right intent, and you drive the spike through, bathing it in flowing blood. Since skeletons do not have flowing blood, can't spike a corpse alone. However if you pulled a Frankenstein dealie I could see that. Secondly, we do see a kandra use allomancy and feruchemy. Bleeder does it in Shadows of Self.

There's not nearly enough salt about [Secret History Spoilers]
Pathfinder replied to FeatherWriter's topic in Mistborn
I feel so much of what Kelsier does or accomplishes is first self/ego driven, that somehow ends up benefiting others. When he stuck around and didn't pass on, it wasn't to protect or help anyone, it was a "wait, so I am dead but not totally dead. So basically your telling me I have a chance to not die die? Lets go with that option then". That lead him to happen to be in the right place to find out about Ruin. Ruin would muck up his whole staying "alive" deal so he wants to stop that. Then he realizes that it would destroy the people he cares about, So the two goals align. The rest is about him finding a way to "survive", and snubbing the big evil (from his perspective) snide god, with helping his friends a close second. So his primary always seems to be "how can this help me?", then after that "as this helps me, does this help others too? ok cool then lets go with that". -
Is it not honorable to inspire in others the goodness you can see in them? To show them the honorable and good men and women they could be?

If the shard that is giving Harmony problems is Autonomy, I think the reason the shard is attacking Harmony is because Sazed represents the possibility of reuniting all the shards. I would think a shard of Autonomy would like to remain.....autonomous

My problems with this is Wax only struggled to climb the skyscraper because it narrows as it gets further up, and he did not want to shoot his gun downwards to act as an anchor as the bullets could hit the people below. That is why he shot outwards to disperse it and throw him towards the skyscraper. Secondly regarding Kal's using his ability to draw projectiles away by causing an object to exert a gravitational pull would have significantly less affect against Wax unless Kal intends to use his entire supply of stormlight. Wax would be shooting a bullet which has a far greater velocity than an arrow, as well as pushing on it for penetration as we have seen him do countless times. Finally for that extra oomph, Wax could increase his weight when he pushes on the bullet. So with all those attributes combined, I very much doubt that localized gravitation field would affect the bullet at all.

Marsh did get his eye spike back so he has two spikes. Marsh also does not have the tell tale scars on his arms.

[Bands Spoilers] A connection to the Stormlight Archive
Pathfinder replied to Havoc's topic in Mistborn
I do not think this is the case, but that quote also reminded me of Stormlight because of the "it has been accepted", just like how Syl and the Stormfather said "the words are accepted"(paraphrase). -
Marsh said that Wax is "doing my brothers work". Wax does everything possible to stop the Set, and makes trouble for the red eyed immortals. Can't see Wax doing Kelsier's bidding if he is dismantling everything the Set is trying to accomplish. Also I am of the opinion that the Sovereign is Kelsier. If that is so, then why would the Set have to go through all that trouble to find the bands? Or go through all that trouble to get the technology from the Southerners? Kelsier saved the southerners, so if the Set works for Kelsier, then they should have all the technology the Southerners have.
