  1. Sorry to throw a wrench into this, but it is stated in book, I think by Marasi, that Cadmium does burn much slower than Bendalloy
  2. I dunno. If that was the case, why not grab some coinshot messengers to experiment on. Ones no one will miss. Instead of high profile and connected women who could have a wider range of abilities
  3. I am not very hopeful for the film but that is more due to the source material than anything. I know a lot of people rave about "The Dark Knight Returns" but with me it always left a bad taste in my mouth. I was never a big superman fan, but I have two friends that are, and upon asking what they liked about him, they gave me a new appreciation of the character. After having that new understanding, then to see him, in my opinion, portrayed very poorly in that comic book made me hate the whole thing (and I haven't even covered the other overtones that I think were horribly done). Then add how the movie seems to treat doomsday and lex luther, and for me that is a definite wait for dvd release to view.
  4. Yeah I never got the hang of the in text stuff, so i just use the button.
  5. Well there are a lot of theories, anything from Kelsier, to Marsh, to Spook, to Kandra, and etc. Personally I think it is Kelsier and feel that there is enough evidence that it is a fact, but not everyone agrees with that, and I did not state it that way with the intention to diminish those who think otherwise.
  6. Sure it could be a spiritual reference, except for the fact that Wax uses the copper mind and sees the way a person with one normal eye and one spiked eye would see, as well as noticed the scars on his arms. I am still against it being Marsh as he gets a spike back in the eye that was missing it. He had a lot of feruchemical abilities. If he could have healed his eye after the spike was torn out, then why didn't he then? For that matter, why heal the eye, save the southerners, and then ram a new spike into the healed eye so he can say hi to Marasi later with two spiked eyes?
  7. Right, I answered that first point. He drew the stormlight from the spheres on the wall. Not from any at his waist. At no point does it mention him having any at his waist. It also did not mention him then going, and picking up spheres to keep on his person to bring with him. He took in stormlight and left. When he arrived on the shattered plains again he did not pick up the spheres, only took in the stormlight. So what I am suggesting is that he did not have any spheres on him while in the highstorm. So the stormlight went from storm to him, not storm to gems to him. So I was suggesting though it is not conclusive, that a radiant can draw stormlight directly from the storm and that gems are just reservoirs to store stormlight for later use.
  8. I thought they were unable to ask harmony because he was "busy". If you think about it, Harmony would have to be busy during all of this, otherwise 90 percent of the questions, and a lot of the problems could have been insta solved by him.
  9. Words of Radiance page 1015 kindle edition "Kaladin gasped a deep breath as if coming fully awake for the first time. The entire hallway went black as the Stormlight in every lamp down the length of the hall winked out." Words of Radiance page 1027 kindle edition "Kaladin let the Stormlight evaporate before him. He was running low-his frantic flight across the Plains had drained him." Words of Radiance page 1027 kindle edition "Kaladin turned and strode toward the assassin. He passed Bridge Four in a tight formation, and the men-at a barked command from Teft-threw something down before Kaladin. Blue lanterns, lit by oversized gems that had lasted the Weeping. Bless them. Stormlight streamed up as he passed, filling him. Words of Radiance page 1041 kindle edition: "The proximity of the storm kept his Stormlight stoked, never letting it grow dim." Now although the quotes provided do not explicitly state that he did not have spheres on him, it can be implied given all the stormlight stated he drained came externally, not from any spheres mentioned in a pouch on his waist. First it was from the hallway (though it could be argued he grabbed some on his way out, given that the entire hallway blacked out and it is the weeping, I doubt he had time to search for some on his own), then the bridgemen threw lanterns at his feet (which he drew the stormlight out of, without picking them up to take with him), and finally the quote stating the storm sustained him. It is due to those instances I posit during the storm, he drew stormlight directly from it, without any sphere as intermediary.
  10. Except for that they have unkeyed gold minds that work on any gold feruchemist. So just make him a hemalurgic feruchemist, and give him a goldmind already full of health and then voila! Happy and Healthy!
  11. I too like this idea, and I only state this for humor, not seriousness in the least, but my luck if I did that, it would only result in giving zombies enough time to eat the entire city where I am, and utterly surround me with all resources outside my bubble having been destroyed, rotted, or already consumed by survivors before they were eaten. Yay I survived long enough for my chance of survival to become zero! lolol
  12. I think that is exactly what the quote was stating. That Wayne is just very very practiced and good at what he does.
  13. Just little factoid I'd like to throw in that I found really interesting when I read it, but accounting to Brandon Sanderson, the way publishing companies judge what is "young adult" is by the age of the protagonist. That's why you can have young adult novels with a wide array of content regarding violence, language and sex. So by that definition regarding the publishers, Wax and Wayne aren't young adult. Not saying this is a reason for or against the language, just something I thought was interesting, and could provoke some thought in this thread.
  14. But that was my point......since Staff didn't blackmail Elend with his child, then said child never existed. Staff is the type in my opinion to use that against Elend, and Elend while he was king (before he became emperor), was the type of person that could be pressured by that, which is why Staff, had he had Elend's son, would have used the child. This was a mental exercise I thought. It was pretty clearly shown in the novel, as well as WoB that Elend never had a child. So extending the mental exercise to the personalities of the characters, that is how I feel they would have acted. Straff would have used any means to manipulate his son, and Elend would have used any means to preserve life. Honestly King Elend I think would have made a very good knights radiant. edit: also why bother with Elend's offspring if it was only due to the possibility of the child being a misting/mistborn? He already has ton of his own offspring. It would be going through a lot of trouble just to get one more. If that was the case, why not use Zane like a prize stud? We know being mistborn does not mean you have mistborn children, but does Straff know that? By having Zane bed women too, he would be effectively potentially doubling his army of misting children and he doesn't need Elend at all.
  15. I think King Elend would exhaust every passage, and every ability to preserve the life of an innocent child. I think Staff would know this, and use it anyway he could to pressure Elend.
  16. That's why I said this: "I could not see him while he was king of luthadel using a loop hole in the books to rationalize killing an innocent child, whether his or otherwise"
  17. Hmmm, that doesn't feel right to me. If I recall correctly, when he found out about Zane a part of him was saddened at the thought of losing a brother. A brother mind you that he knew tried to lure Vin away, as well as tried to kill him and Vin. Despite that he still felt for Zane. Yes he loved his books, but because he felt they would give people a better life. He had no practical real world knowledge. Just book learning. Vin says time and again Elend is a good person. He could have remained king, but due to his integrity admitted to a loop hole that got him kicked out. I could not see him while he was king of luthadel using a loop hole in the books to rationalize killing an innocent child, whether his or otherwise. Emporer Elend on the other hand, totally would.
  18. Ok good. That is exactly what my intention was, continuing the "what if"
  19. Lol i agree and disagree. While Elend was king (sorry that might be where the confusion came in), he did not have the strength of will to let his child die to save the kingdom. However after Twindyl's teaching and him becoming Emporer, then I would agree with you. I meant while he was king and Straff laid siege to Luthadel. it was my mistake of mis-titling him.
  20. I understand this is all conjecture on both your part, and I am not meaning to crush any personal beliefs so please do not take this as an attack. Just continuing this mental exercise. If that was the case, I could see Staff using the child to manipulate Elend while he was emperor. Elend is the type that illegitimate or not, it would still be his child and he would try to save it. But since Straff didn't do that.......
  21. out of curiosity i checked and....
  22. Actually they are mentioned. They are one of the hit squad's that attack Vin. Zane convinced Staff to send them to expose how much atium Vin has left, when in actuality Zane wanted to get Vin to trust him. Straff states it was a waste of his bastards. Not those words exactly, but he does reference them as mistings being his own children. Actually as I type it, I remember vaguely what he said. That how long it took to breed them (despite it being a pleasant pastime) or something and how long it would take to replace them. edit: or it was at the assembly. I forget which, If you want definite confirmation I can check later and pull up the quote
  23. That's how I took it. That if he performed well, the Set would either give him gold feruchemy, or find out how the medallions work, to instead of warmth, or connection, give him healing in a less invasive way.
