LG21 is live and accepting applicants for fun, murder, and Shardic Power.* *We regret that not all applicants will be able to receive Shardic Power. The successful applicant will be driven1, active2, strategic3, impetuous4, fun-loving5, and blessed by the RNG6. 1 - This is not actually true 2 - This either 3 - Who is writing these things? 4 - This is actually a bad trait for a Shard; I need to go speak with Legal 5 - Now this is just getting ridiculous 6 - Finally! This is actually the only trait that matters.

LG21: To Reforge a God Background: Since the last two wars with Odium, the Cosmere has finally had peace. The 16 Shards are now able to turn again to their own pursuits - creation or destruction, as it suits their Intents. But the greatest conflict since the Shattering brews on the horizon. Hoid, the discredited leader of the 17th Shard, is rumored to have returned. The last letter he wrote since he left the Cosmere to parts unknown hinted at his desire to end the rule of the Shards entirely, and reforge that from which they Shattered. The name can be heard floating on the Rosharan highstorms. It curls with the mists in Scadrial. The colors of Nalthis whisper it to the Returned. Adonalsium. Through the length and the breadth of the Cosmere, the message travels, leaving consternation in its wake. The final conflict of the divided Cosmere approaches. The end of the order of uncounted millennia looms. The Shards gather their forces for one last stand. Will they be able to defeat Hoid and end his goal of reforging Adonalsium once and for all? Or will Hoid take his final vengeance on that Coalition? Only one thing is certain. The Cosmere will never be the same again. Factions: Shardic Coalition: For untold millennia, you have supported the rule of order in the Cosmere. Hoid and his interference has brought you only two costly wars, and the insolent fool didn't even have the decency to face his punishment for warmongering. Now, he has returned, and you must stop his plan to bring about the return of Adonalsium at any cost. The Coalition wins after killing all members of the 17th Shard, as well as Odium and Autonomy and their Champion(s)/Agent(s). 17th Shard: You have been brought into Hoid's great plan for the worlds of the Cosmere. He was there when Adonalsium was Shattered, and he intends to be there when the God is reborn. To bring his plan to fruition, you must gather up the Shards from their original holders. Unfortunately, they are not likely to surrender them peacefully. To win, you need to outnumber the members of the Shardic Coalition. (Autonomy, Odium, Survival, and any Champions of Odium/Agents of Autonomy do not count towards either faction for purposes of outnumbering.) In addition, the 17th Shard has a sudden death win condition - if at any time, members of the 17th Shard hold all 10 Unshattered Shards, the game is immediately over and they win. If Cultivation is Shattered, this sudden death win condition is no longer possible. The 17th Shard have a doc to conspire in, and have a Faction kill. In addition, there are three Shards who have separate win conditions. These will be described in the Roles section. Roles: All players may make up to three actions in a turn (spread out over day and night cycles). The following count as actions: using a Shardic action or investment ability, using a minor role ability or Faction kill, investing in another player, passing a Shard to another player, moving to another planet. Voting in the thread does not count as an action. Planets and PMs: There will be 7 worlds available: Scadrial, Roshar, Nalthis, Sel, Taldain, Yolen, and First of the Sun. Each of these worlds will have a PM associated with it. Anyone on that world may use the PM freely. Other than these planet PMs and PMs that may be created by Devotion, no PMs between players are allowed. Order of Actions (Day): Secret Votes Redirect Vote/Action Investment Non-specific Shardic Abilities and Meta-Roles Lynch Order of Actions (Night): Redirect Action/Roleblock/Destroy Planet Investment Conversion Non-specific Shardic Abilities and Meta-Roles Protection and Healing Poison Mastrell Awakener and Analyst scans Attack Actions Worldhopping The game will start Saturday, 5/14/16, at midnight, Mountain Daylight Time. Day Cycles will be 48 hours, Night Cycles will be 24 hours. Future turns will end at midnight, MDT, on the appropriate day. Writeups will be posted as soon as is convenient following that. Interesting - seems my trust in you was well-placed, Nyali. To alleviate your worries, you can pass an item - gifting happens before everything but the Thief's action, so if you are really afraid of dying, you can give the person of your choice your Blade. Macen, I didn't see that yesterday. I really need to stop talking without double-checking my sources. Carry on. I still think you're wrong about DC, though. Nyali, who did you protect last night? The Ghostbloods already know that information, so I think that keeping it secret is not useful. Finally, the second Shardblade holder could still be a Ghostblood. It could be Joe's Blade - he died N3, so last night (N4) would be the first time whoever got it could have used it. If it's a Ghostblood, they could have hit Trell to make us trust both Blade holders. They wouldn't have known that anyone else would have attacked. I'm not saying they are evil, I'm just saying we can't assume they're good.

Thanks, Alv. I'd like to hear your current suspicions, actually. Also, I totally forgot that we had had a whole conversation in Day 4. I blame finals week. Also, thanks Zas for responding. I agree, Mark does seem increasingly like a Village read - the way he tried to keep discussion going is a villager-ish thing to do. Not enough to hard-confirm him, but I'll put him on my 'leaning towards Village' list. EDIT: Also, for Mail: طعنتين I give you "two stabs."

There are 16 people left alive by my count. Of these, I am certain of the alignment of one - myself (Noble). I trust Wilson and Nyali, and believe that DC is almost certainly a Noble. That leaves 12 remaining players - Burnt, Kasimir, Lopen, Elbereth, Mark, Alvron, Kynedath, AliasSheep, Zas, Twei, Macen, and Stink. Of these twelve (or possibly, of the 15 that are not me, as I have been known to be dead wrong about players before), at least 4 are evil. I am quite certain of that - Meta's square root rule leaves 5 as the minimum here. Other, more generous GMs generally run 20-25% evil. That gives us between 5.6 (rounded up to 6) and 7 evil players. So we have a minimum of 4 left and possibly up to 6. With an Artifabrian, that gives them an extra kill every 3 rounds, so I'm not willing to believe 6 left. At least one thief reduces the villager's numbers, but I think we're reasonably justified in assuming an initial Eliminator team of 6, with one dead. Almost certain that they did not start with a Shardblade. They might have started with a Grandbow - if they did, they likely only numbered 5 to begin with. That extra kill is potent. They might have an Emotion Bracelet - it gives them an item scanning ability, which is useful. They likely did not start with an Alerter; but I given the number of Grandbows and artifabrians in this game, I suspect that at least one started with a Painrial and/or a Half Shard. It is also possible that one began with Plate. That would be odd, considering that their secondary win con is to acquire plate, blade, and soulcaster, but it's not an unthinkable proposition. We have 2 demonstrated Shardblades. It is possible that an inactive player has another, or that a player has chosen to keep theirs hidden. It is also possible that the player with a shardblade also had another Tier 1A item that they preferred using - a Soulcaster, perhaps? Or a Pain knife? That may have been what happened to the Grandbow users - or they may have been the targets of a pain knife. Or one of each. I suspect we end up with two permanent Grandbow holders - three attacks happened yesterday, but one was a confirmed Artifabrian shot. That's a lot of kill roles - 2 Blades and 2 Bows, plus 3 artifabrians. That both Shardblade users attacked Trelagist is an interesting conundrum. I am not quite willing to clear both of them - the Ghostbloods had as much reason to want Trel dead as we did. He was a known noble to them, and therefore a fine target. At the same time, killing the targets the village wanted them to gives a veneer of trust over the Shardblade user. No, I'm not going to clear the Shardblade users. I still believe it possible that Joe's Blade has found its way into the hands of our enemies. I also suspect that at least one Ghostblood is a Spy. It seems thematically fitting, and would be useful in the same manner as an Emotion Bracelet. Now on to suspects. First, a note on Trell - sorry. I (not just me, but I helped) got you to be the target of the Village Shardblade squad. (And maybe a Ghostblood Shardblade holder, as well). Your arguments against Wilson were what made me suspect you - they seemed like eliminator arguments to get rid of a skilled and dangerous player. And the fact that you unilaterally attacked her was another point against you. And now you're dead, and I was wrong. Sorry about that. I may end up joining you before the end. Of the twelve which I have no reason to believe Noble, I have been most suspicious of Elb. The more I read her posts, the less I feel I have reason to be suspicious, but it still lingers there. I suspect at least one Ghostblood is inactive, and I will at least bring up the possibility of focusing Grandbows and Shardblades on those who have not posted for more than a cycle. Some of our inactives may have legitimate reason (as I did) - I believe Kasimir is among those. There might be others that I have missed or don't remember (my brain is shot from homework assignments). I am still wary of Alvron - this playstyle is normal for him; he seldom posts in the beginning of a game. But it is an excellent place to hide as a Ghostblood. He has a reputation for being silent, waiting to compile information, until he is ready to strike. I can't get a read on him, since he isn't posting. So I'm calling him out to post. Macen, your vote for DC is interesting. The consensus yesterday was that both DC and Wilson were village. I didn't notice you dissenting then (though please feel free to correct me if I missed something). Also, I find it a strong probability that DC was the target of the Ghostblood attack last night, which should clear him. Someone was attacked but saved, and DC (by my count) had only taken a single attack on his Plate. I believe that he baited the Ghostbloods into attacking him last night, by pretending that his Plate was exhausted, thus wasting their attack. That gives me strong reason to trust him. I'd like to hear your suspicions. I'd like to hear from Kynedath and Lopen, Stink, DC, Twei and zas. We have a lot of people that aren't saying much. Let's change that.

Thanks for the help, everyone. I finished up my 3 lab reports today. Now I just have to get through my last final tomorrow and I'm free! -
I mean, I'm always down for more PMs with people, but I don't have a spanreed. If you happen to have one, I'd love to talk with you. If not, then that's fine too.

Just finished the first of 3 lab reports. And my Arabic portfolio is done! Just two more lab reports and a take-home final left. -
Well that changes things a little bit...I'm in the middle of a lab report, so I don't have enough time to think through this carefully at the moment. When I finish, though, I'll come back and make a decision about changing my vote.

If this were correct, then you would have a point. However, Mailliw's comment earlier about duel rules seems to indicate that the loser dies rather than just taking a kill action. This makes sense thematically, as both participants in a duel would have Shardblades and Shardplate - just some would be broken. My understanding is that no matter what, someone is going to die as a result of this duel. But it can't hurt to ask. Mail, if Wilson has Shardplate and loses in this duel, will she survive? Excellent analysis, Nyali, and I agree with most of what you said. Two comments - first, I missed that part about duels. I really need to go back and reread the rules to make sure there's not something else I'm missing. But thanks for the correction. I'm still miffed that we are losing that day of discussion - though Mark has seriously helped us in abating that, and if we continue the way we've been going wemight not be as badly off as I thought as a result - but now I know that it's built into the duel, not part of DC's play. Still frustrated about it, but less so. The second point is on Burnt - while I agree about the fact that Joe's redirected kill being an evidence in her favor, the problem is that Mail made a mistake, thought she died, and posted her alignment, items, and so on in the thread. He edited it out after he fixed the mistake, but some players saw it. As a result, he posted that he was redoing Burnt's alignment, items, and role. So there's no guarantee that she's the same alignment she was when someone tried to kill her.

Well, I've already expressed my suspicions on Trelagist. The most frustrating thing about this duel is that there is a full day left in the cycle - so discussion about the duel, whether it is useful or not, whether DC is an Eliminator or a villager doing something less-than-completely-helpful, whether Wilson is evil, and which of the two we should actually get rid of, if any, is going to dominate the last 24 hours of discussion. Even if we try to put pressure on other people we have suspicions of, there isn't any real force behind it, because the kill roles may or may not follow suit, and the lynch has been arbitrarily restricted to two people.

No - I'm picking the way out of the mess you've got us in that helps the village most. I don't want to lynch you - I really do think you're a villager. But I don't want to lynch Wilson either - I really do think she's a villager. Our PM has made me mostly convinced and that's only increased as the cycle has gone on. I still have lingering paranoia because Wilson can be a storming good manipulator when she's evil, but I have enough evidence to presume her innocence until and unless counter evidence is presented. Honestly - I wanted to lynch either Trelagist or Elbereth. Both are steadily pushing their way up my suspicion charts, and getting a confirmed read would be really nice. Especially Trel - I find his reasoning for attacking Wilson to be weak in the extreme, and has a reasonable chance of being a cover story for an Eliminator that really wanted to try and get rid of her. But that's not really an option anymore. EDIT: Tone - my statement at the end sounded more frustrated than I actually am, and could have been construed as a personal attack. The meaning has remained unchanged.

This is my big hope too. WoT also is nowhere near as gritty and controversial as Game of Thrones. That could be a bonus or a disadvantage, depending on how it gets played (at least in terms of ratings). I hope that they don't try to copy the Game of Thrones route just to draw viewers. (They'd actually lose me as one if they did, but that's a matter of personal taste).

You voted for me, Mark? I must have missed that. Either way you're forgiven. This is my preferred level of activity - just for everyone's reference. Well - technically my activity comes in bursts; but this is how I tend to be when I have the time. Your point about Wilson is well-taken. Honestly, though, my vote isn't about suspicion. It's about helpfulness. A good Wilson will be more helpful to the village than a good Deathclutch. I'd rather not kill either, but DC forced the issue. So since I don't suspect either one enough to want to lynch them, I'll pick the lesser of the two evils presented to me as a choice.

[New WoB] Allomantic Bronze & the Listener Rhythms
Seonid replied to Aethenoth's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Very well done. That's a useful answer to me at least. -
So, with the revelation that Orlok's action was redirected to himself N1, this confirms that we have a 2nd living artifabrian. They could be good, they could be evil, but one thing is for sure, Wilson wasn't given the spanreed N1 by Orlok to try and get information out of us. With that out of the way, we're free to take Wilson on her own actions and statements. My PM with her screams Village to me. Irritated Village, sure, but Village. So I'm inclined to trust her now. I really don't think that DC is evil either, I think that he's just misguided in his tunneling on Wilson. So now we're locked into choosing between two (more than likely) village players for the lynch. Thanks, DC... I'd love to abstain from this vote, but there's quite a bit at stake. And Deathclutch is again falling victim to Trelagist's fallacy. Just because dead good people were suspicious of you doesn't mean that they were right! I died for this exact reason in LG14. Wilson was convinced that I was evil, and had told her trusted group that I was. She died - she was good. Her trusted group lynched me. I was good too. Being dead doesn't make your suspicions infallible, and to believe otherwise is fallacious. About whether Wilson is being defensive - sure she is. But then, so was I when I was falsely accused, in a situation that put the village at an extreme disadvantage if they were to lynch me. I got very angry - seriously, you should go read the game. It didn't mean that I was evil, just that I was very irritated by the way things were going. Irritation isn't a good sign of alignment. Again, I really don't think that DC is evil and I'd rather not lynch either of our options, but I think that if I have to choose between the two, the village is better off if DC dies today than if Wilson does.

No idea - but things don't add up either way...if we take it your reading, it has nothing to do with Wilson's level of suspicion; if we take it my way, there's question about how yafe got the info. Actually, now that I write it out like this, your reading sounds more reasonable. It makes my arguments against Trell a little weaker, but I think they still hold. That's certainly my (hopefully our!) hope. We can't really find out until the next night cycle, though. I went back to look at our dead people - 3 of them expressed suspicion of Wilson in a Death Cry. Of these, one - Luna - had an emotion bracelet. So it is plausible that Luna could have scanned Wilson and seen a suspicious action. Although - may I make a request? If you have slam-dunk, 100% evidence that someone is evil, just put the evidence in your Death Cry. We don't need to know the rest of your suspicions - in fact, you should have been telling us them in the thread. If you have convictable evidence (like an alerter telling you who killed you, or an emotion bracelet telling you who made a Ghostblood kill), just put that in the Death cry and use whatever space is left for less important stuff. Since Luna didn't do that, we don't know whether her admonition to "Kill Wilson" is based off of something she saw or just her suspicion. We don't know who she used her emotion bracelet on. I would really like to know, because if she saw something suspicious we could have lynched Wilson last cycle and learned about it. So, going forward, if you know something, tell us what it is you know! Don't just tell us what to do, because without telling us why we have no way of knowing whether it was gut suspicion or something more.

I really think that you are putting too much weight on the DC of these players. Yafe actually added bits saying why he was suspicious (thank you, yafe, by the way!), and these were directly contradicted by Joe. (That is, yafe says that Wilson got her spanreed from killing the Thief, while Joe said that he gave her the spanreed). Just because they're cleared doesn't make them right. It just means that we know that their suspicions aren't given with the intent of manipulating us into lynching our own people. Now - is Wilson confirmed good? By no means. In fact, confirmed good is tough to get in this game - I think Burnt Spaghetti's as close as we've got. Nobody has an alignment seeking ability, so we can only go for indirect methods of clearing. Do I trust her? About as far as my paranoia will let me, and that's not far at all. But I'm rather surprised that you are gunning for her so hard on the strength of some unsupported assertions (one of which was completely wrong). EDIT - Alv, my reading of yafe's statement is that he's claiming that Wilson killed the Thief to get the spanreed.
