  1. 2 more items of business! Items cannot be passed or given to another player unless you have a role ability that explicitly allows you to do so. PMs cannot be created unless you have a role ability or item that explicitly allows you to do so.
  2. Patience, young padawan. Your PM will come in time.
  3. A note on gameplay: All players may take exactly one action per cycle, unless otherwise noted. Voting is not an action, however, using any other ability is. All items or powers require an action to use, unless explicitly noted as granting a passive effect. A rough order of actions is given as follows: Roleblocks, Protection, Item Manipulation, Role/Alignment Scans, Kills, Action Scans

  5. Sign ups are closed! And thank you everybody who didn't sign up at the last minute. Reasons why will become clear
  6. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
  7. 16 hours or so left until the game starts! If any of you are sitting on the sidelines, trying to decide if you want to play, go ahead and sign up now!
  8. Actually, given that I'm back from vacation now, I'm going to go Elbereth NIghthound
  9. Of course I am But I'll take them with me to the grave. You might have better luck voting on Elbereth
  10. Definitely not too late!
  11. You can always sign up as a new original character... I cannot guarantee that Nighthound will die. He must die, but I cannot guarantee that he will. Also, Thousand Realms Incorporated, of which Seonid's Elimination Games is a subsidiary, cannot be held responsible for your becoming a vote magnet because you have chosen to RP as a character that even people who have never heard of him want to kill...
  12. Welcome! Glad to have you.
  13. Starnet history updated. 2500 new words elaborating on conditions during the Great Collapse, and the slow rise of a Second Empire.
  14. Not at all! In fact, most of the Reckoners RPers don't make it over here often. I've issued an invitation over there, and we'll see how it goes.
  15. This is absolutely true. Y'all might not recognize me around these parts anymore, but I used to run a few Epics in The Dalles. I'm GMing the newest SE game, and I hope it will be a lot of fun! The Oregon RP has already been referenced, and I'm going to continue to do so . Anyone who's interested is more than welcome to sign up. We'd love to have you! Think of it as... an opportunity. An opportunity to role play in the Reckoners setting while also stabbing your fellow forumites in the back!
  16. See: Lightwards, master of the Empire of Light in Portland. Power set includes reanimating the dead, and rising from the dead himself. He rules from the converted Museum of Natural History, where he reanimated the fossils on display there. More information can be found in the Reckoners RP section of this site.
  17. Well, I haven't participated in that for two years or more, so I'm kind of behind the times over there. But expect a few. Nighthound will be referenced as the epitome of ultimate evil. Zombie dinosaurs might even show up in a writeup. Quota might. I even considered setting this in Portland and using the RP characters. But getting permission from their creators and then working out how it could make a good SE game seemed like too much work and too little time. I have games coming up though. There may be a WHIO SE crossover game in the future.
  18. Welcome back! That's a name I haven't seen in a long time. Sorry - that didn't make it in the OP; I'll put it there now. This game will be 48-hour combined Day/Night cycles (what I've come to consider standard for MR games). Turnover time will be...well...my schedule is kind of in flux at the moment. The current plan is for 10AM Mountain Daylight Time (GMT-6). I'm likely to be starting a new job during the course of the game. The current turnover time is planned around what I expect my schedule to be, but I make no guarantees. If the time needs to change, it will. Most likely 2nd choice for a time would be 11:30 PM, same time zone.
  19. It's up now! Hope you join us - it will be crazy. So, in order to sign up, just go to the signup thread of a new game (like the one I just posted above!) and tell the GM that you want to play. Signups generally last about a week, Online, day cycles generally last 24-48 hours (depending on format - see the Q&A thread for details), with nights lasting another 24 hours. Long games can take a 6 weeks to 2 months, while mid-range games are generally 3-4 weeks, and quick games going on for just about a week or two. Roles are generally distributed via PMs on the site, and any actions are collected the same way. Voting is done in posts on the thread. Mostly, our adaptation to doing it online is to stretch out the time so that people from widely disparate time zones can all participate in the same game. Also, the Mafia generally get a Google doc to talk to each other in. Sometimes it's a group PM, but mostly a Google doc. Fair warning, a lot of our games here are non-standard. Which I like a lot - we're often trying something new - but it can sometimes be a little daunting if you're used to simpler setups. We like to have lots of roles flying around, and we can't seem to help but explore weird edge cases of mafia style rules and see just how far we can push the envelope. But come on in and enjoy the ride! It's great fun, with great people, and we'd love to have you.
  20. MR24: Baleful Eye Mirialis was a large city, as far as cities went in the Fractured States. It had another name before Calamity, of course. But after the Capitulation Act, when the High Epics began to carve their own little empires out of what had been the American Heartland, things had changed. A lot. Steelheart ruled in Newcago. Regalia in Babilar. Perseus in Persepolis. Lightwards in his Empire of Light. In Mirialis, that meant Balelight. She was an elusive figure, even in the city she ruled. She made sporadic public appearances, in her impressive uniform and demonstrating her Epic powers that could blast a man dead at half a mile away, or burn an office tower to nothing in mere minutes. But nobody saw her outside of those appearances. Her lieutenants, many of them powerful Epics in their own right, did the same thing. Anonymity was the rule of the game in Mirialis. Of course, that meant that anyone you met on the street could be a powerful Epic, the upholders of stability in a land that had fallen into chaos, in disguise. Or they could be a subversive dissident intent on undermining the rightful order of things. Or, from another point of view, anyone you met on the street could be a fanatical informant serving the brutal and oppressive regime, or a valiant freedom fighter attempting to bring the criminal rulers of the city to justice. Points of view were tricky that way. Push them just a little bit, and everything looked different. Either way you looked at it, talking to any of them could get you killed. Deliberately avoiding them probably would too. So the citizens of Mirialis went about their daily business in silence. Fearful deference to each other was the standard approach to whatever interaction could not be avoided. So it had been for ten long years since Calamity appeared. Hopefully it would stay that way. After all, living in fear was a sight better than not living at all. Welcome to MR24: Baleful Eye! This game will be co-GMed by Elbereth and I. This game is being run as a blackout game, sometimes also called a Closed Setup. For those who may not be familiar with the term, it means that there will be no information given about the available roles, abilities, or win conditions present in the game. Just a warning - this game, more than any others I've run, may not be balanced. I hope, however, that it will be fun. Expect shenanigans... No...seriously. I meant what I said. No information about the setup will be given. Even what the teams are called. *Sigh* You still here? Still not going to say anything. Nothing at all. You really want to know, don't you? Well then, I guess you'd better sign up and play! Signups for this game will last until Saturday, August 12 at 10:00 AM, Mountain Daylight Time. Cycles will be 48 hour combined Day/Night, and turnover time should be the same time as the end of signups. No guarantees, though. Player List: [REDACTED] - Paranoid King, person who specializes in collecting relics. Starshatter and Birdrider - Winter Devotion, star crossed Australian runaways. Jon - Jondesu, amazing with computers but absolutely useless when it comes to talking to people Mark - Mark IV Biff - Elenion, a street salesman in the wrong place at the wrong time Sandra Kensington - Sami, weapons manufacturer with dark secret Rashers - Majestic, a bacon-summoning Epic Impulse - The Flash Shockwave - King Cole, Epic with a terrible singing voice Matt - Shqueeves, orphan who never knew anything better Anonymous - Alvron, The Collective will ensure you never know anything about him Silver Feather - Roadwalker Tammy - Rebecca, the accidental daughter of Obliteration () Amy Scott - Brightness Radiant, out of place punster Nameless Character I - Drake Marshall Annabelle - Lemonelon, an "engineer" Sol - Eternum Lightwood - RippleGylf Outblack - Hemalurgic_Headshot Falchion - Elithanathile Cranium - Frozen Mint Annoan - Megasif Nameless Character II - Ecthelion III Pickle - asterion137, a small - time thief Altea Meza - Crimsn_Wolf, a petite young drifter Fess - Arinian Quick Links:
  21. Thanks, folks. I looked over my lease agreement, and there's actually a clause in there that says that in the event of a change in ownership, they can give me 30 days notice to vacate. Unfortunately. But we're looking for new apartments now, and we've found a number of them that might work. If there's one good thing that happened as a result of this, it's that I'm suddenly a lot more willing to take a lower-quality job than I was. Which is only good in the sense of: now I'll have a job instead of not. Sure seems like a waste of 2 4-year degrees to just go work on a factory assembly line, but it's much better than nothing at all.
