Stones Unhallowed 10.5% Accurate Predictions: Kaladin
Patrick Star replied to Confused's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think that Szeth will confront Kaladin in Kholinar. We know that he is mentally unstable, and I think that he will blow a gasket after slaughtering the Stone Shamans, and will blame Kaladin for it. I like your fourth ideal and completely agree that Kaladin will walk into Hearthstone, and that he will likely take the darkeye drops. I also think that Kaladin will somehow get Nightblood from Szeth after their confrontation (still shipping Nightblood and Syl), and will meet up with Zahel (Vasher) in Kholinar. Those are my two cents. I give these predictions a 34.5% -
Theory: Venli gave the black sphere to Gavilar
Patrick Star replied to shawnhargreaves's topic in Stormlight Archive
That sort of takes the whole mystery factor away from the sphere. As a plot device and for forshadowing, I'd say that it's still very much intact and that whatever's in it is left just as it was when Szeth put it in Jah Keved. -
Theory: Venli gave the black sphere to Gavilar
Patrick Star replied to shawnhargreaves's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think that the black orb held Yelig-Nar, or Blightwind. Moelech and another unmade were moving through the shattered plains, so he wasn't in the sphere. We've seen Szeth hear the screams of those who he killed, which is exactly how Yelig-Nar communicates. Coincidence? I think not. Good theory, by the way. Take an upvote. -
Just a stick? JUST A STICK?!?! You have no idea of the horrible powers that you are toying with! Seriously, I'd be happy to see it just pop in again in the story, if only for a couple of lines. Something like Kaladin using a surge to make everything around him float, except for a single stick that stays on the ground.

We need a full Stick interlude. I also want to see an Elhoker PoV, a Herald (Kalak anyone?), and a Rlain PoV.

Nice. My turn. Stickform: I am a Stick. I am a Stick. I was not a stick, but now I am a Stick. They are not yet sticks but they shall be Sticks. We must become sticks, we will become Sticks. You will be a Stick, and a Stick you shall be. All must be Sticks, and Sticks must be all. I am a Stick. I am a Stick.

Do I like Shallan? I'll put it this way: I agree with The Stick

We also find out who Hoid senior (Hoid's mentor) is. It turns out that on Yolen, "Hoid" translates to "Stick"...

Like Hannibal Lecter . They're both psychopaths, they both eat people, they both have to be kept in an extremely over-the-top restraining system, they have both killed evil people, and they both have killed people who wanted to use them to accomplish a nefarious task. And if Nightblood does fall in love with a radiantspren, they will both have had awkward romances with the main protagonist(s).

Does this mean that there will be more of the stick in book 3?

This is a pure speculation thread about everybody's favorite psycho/sociopathic evil-killing sword. So, we know that Nightblood is an awakened sword who is unique due to his sentience and large investiture. We also know that he is practically the same as a radiantspren, as they are both slivers of a shard. My question is: Will Nightblood fall in love with a radiantspren? I think he will. As of this thread, I'm officially shipping Nightblood and Syl (Sylblood? Nightsyl?). What do you guys think?

(crypitc spoilers) Making up Death Rattles.

"There is but one way to save our souls. We must endure, and we must... READ AND FIND OUT!!!" -
No, I don't think he died. He probably got the throne because... um... the committee members all had cataracts and couldn't tell who was who? Or maybe they were just feeling extra misogynistic that day.

Is there a WoB or definitive proof for it? I just don't recall anything on the subject. I think that there are two possibilities for Szeth's resurrection. First - Nalan did in fact use a regrowth fabrial (this is the "dull" option). Second - Szeth is a returned from Warbreaker. I think that the first option is the only viable one, even if there's no proof for regrowth's ability to heal a spinal shardblade strike. Szeth still has his memories, which he would have lost if he was in fact awakened or a returned.

Theory on Unlocking the Other Oathgates.
Patrick Star replied to earthboundsyndicate's topic in Stormlight Archive
Love the meme! I think that your half-shard connection is very feasible. Half-shards are made by inserting a fabrial into an otherwise-ordinary object in order to strengthen it. Even if the Rosharian scholars didn't know how the oathgates worked (or what they were), they likely noticed that shardblades couldn't cut through the grates, which would facilitate the creation of half-shards. There's a good possibility that the half-shard fabrial is simply a mimicry of the oathgate locking fabrial. -
Theory on Unlocking the Other Oathgates.
Patrick Star replied to earthboundsyndicate's topic in Stormlight Archive
It's almost certainly a locking (or something like that) fabrial that keeps the oathgate from working. I'd say that the grate is a normal grate, and the lamp is strengthening it. I bet that the people who locked it were all like "Yo dawg, I heard you liked fabrials. So I put a fabrial inside of a fabrial in order to keep the fabrial inoperational." -
Us 17thsharders have really worked ourselves into a... STICKY situation!

To quote the Elder Scrolls: "But at the same time, all of it is true. Even the falsehoods. Especially the falsehoods." -Shin bookshop owner, 4 seconds before death And: "Sweet mother, sweet mother, send your child unto me, for the sins of the unworthy must be baptized in blood and fear" -Female darkeyes nurse, 13 seconds before death -

(Guesses) Nightblood's Powers on Roshar
Patrick Star replied to Darkness's topic in Stormlight Archive
He was made with the command to destroy evil. On Roshar, that purpose (somehow) changes to "destroy evil... and all sticks." This will force a stick resistance that will destroy the Firebringers and defeat Odium.- 17 replies
