OK. Shallan is one KR step ahead of Kaladen per WoB
Patrick Star replied to WitSpren's topic in Stormlight Archive
Kaladin is definitely a stronger Radiant than Shallan. Kaladin can use his surges on Sticks. Shallan can't. -
Elsecallers have the unique ability to soulcast sticks, something that is not possible for Lightweavers.

Honor's Champion? (Slight Mistborn Spoilers)
Patrick Star replied to The Ja's topic in Stormlight Archive
I could see this, but I don't 100% agree. I don't think that he's going to like Graves using him for the diagram, so I actually see him beginning a long trek back to being honorable. I think that Amaran and Shallan's siblings are in the best positions to begin serving Odium. We already know that Odium was at work with Shallan's family, so it is entirely possible for him to gain hold of her brothers after their home got destroyed and after they learn that Kaladin killed Helaran. Amaran is furious at Kaladin, and is actively trying to unleash Odium's rage. Those types of characters tend to get corrupted pretty easily. -

Amaran. I really, really, want it to be Amaran. -
Honor's Champion? (Slight Mistborn Spoilers)
Patrick Star replied to The Ja's topic in Stormlight Archive
And Dalinar is seeing the visions... and we all know how well he can interpret what Tanavest is saying. My bet is that he'll dig the new Radiants into a hole by following a faulty idea of what the visions were saying. -
Honor's Champion? (Slight Mistborn Spoilers)
Patrick Star replied to The Ja's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yes, Honor will likely get a champion. So will Odium. I still think that it's going to be Kaladin. I just think that he deserves it the most . Cultivation will likely be a third party, and won't necessarily have a champion. I do think that she'll eventually help out, but in a less direct way. -
Here's my opinion: I think that the oathgates being locked happened because of the Recreance. Instead of having each city linked to a herald, I think that each city is linked to an order of the radiants. I also think that the keys are actual radiants from each order (and their sprenblades). This is why Stormseat was unlocked - it was the bondsmith city. They couldn't lock it because the bondsmiths were shardless (and thus had no way to unlock it). I'm also hoping for Kholinar to be windrunner-associated.

Technically, Szeth DID die (his resurrection also proves my Third Rule). I think he was talking about Szeth and/or trolling us.

My 3 rules for when magic is involved: 1) NEVER go towards an evil person with more power than you (and/or a present ally). Direct confrontation WILL result in your death. 2) If you think you killed something but don't have the body, you didn't kill it! 3) Even if you do kill something and have the body, chop off its head and skewer its brain. Otherwise, it WILL come back to life (or reveal that it wasn't actually dead). By rule 2, and partially 3, Eshonai is alive.

Definitely the Way of Kings. I felt that Words of Radiance was not as good.

Shallan doesn't like them either. If those two are able to agree on something, it's either really good or really evil
-
Beat me to it, take an upvote! They charged into battle massacres wearing the bright orange bones of their enemies (or at least their non-human ones). Literally EVERYBODY notices this (on both sides), though I would have liked to see it from the Parshendi point of view (beyond them trying to kill Kaladin). I'd be more surprised if they didn't have a nickname than if they were named the "Order of Bone"

Quoted from here: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6568-cultivations-real-name/ So, assuming that Cultivation's name is Reya, we have another possible name to have Ryshadium derived from. I'm going to take a gamble that normal horses are of Odium, and Ryshadium horses invested by Cultivation. That would explain why the name isn't quite derived from Reya and isn't quite derived from Rayse. And it's most definitely not derived from Tanavest (Hey, I'm going to go ride my Tanavedium now). Probably not true, but does somewhat explain the naming.

Adolin to be featured in new wine advertisement!
Patrick Star replied to traceria's topic in Stormlight Archive
Let's hope that Adolin makes this wine commercial soon. I don't want to see him take a shardblade in the knee. -
I thought that the "new technology" bit was Renarin talking about the heating fabrial. And I really don't think that the box is important. I think that Feather is correct in what she's saying.

OK. Shallan is one KR step ahead of Kaladen per WoB
Patrick Star replied to WitSpren's topic in Stormlight Archive
I was really surprised to see that WoB. Shallan's abilities with stormlight are nowhere near as... violent or intense as Kaladin's. It's possible that Kaladin and Syl just have a stronger bond, but I doubt that's it. Or at least not all of it. I think that they do have a stronger bond, but I don't think that it fully explains the differential we're seeing. I still think that there's something extra-special about Kaladin, likely to do with the "Child of Tanavest" or (more hopefully) being the Champion of Honor (he deserves it the most, not Dalinar). -
Zahel has good Breath (spoilers inside)
Patrick Star replied to Tempus's topic in Stormlight Archive
Not exactly. He is able to sense spren in the natural world. From his PoV, we know that he knows that there's a weird spren that keeps buzzing around Kaladin, but doesn't know what type of spren it is or that it's part of a Nahel bond (as we know, this is Syl). So yes, he can tell if somebody has a Nahel bond by seeing if they have a spren that follows them around. However, this is a matter of reasoning, not actually sensing a Nahel bond. -
Zahel has good Breath (spoilers inside)
Patrick Star replied to Tempus's topic in Stormlight Archive
Good Breath? Guess he chews orbit! Also, Stormlight is very similar to Breaths, at least in principle. This is likely why he can absorb it, and partly why he doesn't go to another planet that he could gain investiture from (the other part is a cheerful, evil-killing sentient sword running amok on Roshar). -

Does Shallan know about the Skybreakers?
Patrick Star replied to ccstat's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm really not sure that Helaran introduced her to Pattern. Skybreakers are looking to kill surgebinders, albeit to prevent desolation. If so, why would a member actively facilitate the formation of a Nahel bond? -
Adolin to be featured in new wine advertisement!
Patrick Star replied to traceria's topic in Stormlight Archive
Not anymore... Rest in Peace, Sureblood -
I always envisioned warform looking similar to the Dremora from The Elder Scrolls. Edit: Less spiky, though.

The thrill left because Nergaoul (is that the right spelling?) moved from Alethkar to Jah Keved. Also, it's just a lot weaker. Not quite gone. The Parshendi feel "The Thrill" because their minds have been taken over by Odium, so Nergaoul doesn't need to influence them.

He's the most interesting shardbearer in the world.
