  1. It's very likely. Mraize already said that the ghostbloods were not going to harm or kill Amaram, as his life belongs to somebody else (Kaladin, maybe?). As to why they attacked when they did, it was probably to get a clear shot from a hidden, private area. A dart hitting the wrong person could cause a public hysteria, as would seeing Amaram captured in public.
  2. It was coated with a stun poison. It's meant to incapacitate people, not to kill them. Also, they were shooting it at Amaram, not Taln. Taln was just in between them and caught the dart.
  3. So, tor.com recently finished up their Way of Kings reread, and commemorated the achievement by allowing users to ask Brandon questions. One of the questions is this, buy user Phantrosity: "In The Way of Kings, we see a lot of worldhoppers on Roshar. Have you already seeded worldhoppers FROM Roshar in your other works?" Brandon responds "Yes, you've met several." So, which Rosharian characters have been worldhopping to other books in the cosmere? There are a couple of obvious picks here: Nalan - He got Nightblood, enough said. Mraize (and/or some other ghostblood members) - Again, fairly obvious given the large assortment of trinkets in their meetingplace. But what other stormlight characters have worldhopped to other places? Honestly, I'm not very sure. For my money though, I'd wager that ancient radiants likely did with some regularity. Are there any characters that you guys would like to add?
  4. You are all wrong. Reya is a stick. The stickiest stick of a stick that you can find.
  5. Until any new evidence surfaces, I'm sticking with unmade. The parshendi were readopting stormform, which Eshonai feared would attract the attention of the unmade. I believe that they were traveling towards Narak, which (combined with the timing) backs up them being unmade. These creatures were trailing stormspren, which fits with their allegiance to odium. They didn't look like any other type of spren, but they weren't completely manifested in the physical realm either, which backs up their spren-like nature. Also, bonding a stormspren allows the parshendi to travel through the highstorms unimpeded, so there's absolutely no reason to assume that one would stop an unmade. It's difficult to come to a complete conclusion this early on, but I think that this is the most feasible theory based on what we've been given. I'm wary of them being chasmfiends or thunderclasts. I don't think that thunderclasts could be described as "sleek and alien", and I'm pretty sure that Kaladin would have recognized a chasmfiend (you know, having just killed one and all that).
  6. Is it possible that the ghostbloods are trying to find Gavilar's black sphere? Amaram IS a member of the sons of honor (started by Gavilar) and is possibly in charge of them now (Restares is really the only other option), so he would likely be able to provide information (possibly on how the sphere was found, which would help the Ghostbloods find it). Also, I think that "another" is indeed Kaladin. At least I hope so. A Kaladin-Ghostbloods interaction would be pretty sweet, and would add another dimension to his relationship (hopefully not romantic) with Shallan.
  7. 1) We'll probably figure this out once we know exactly what was in the black sphere. He probably wanted to release an unmade (the sphere very possibly contains Yelig-nar), which would have (somehow) turned the parshendi into voidbringers to starty a desolation. 2) He wanted to do this (return the parshendi gods) in order to cause a desolation to occur, which would cause the heralds to return, which would reestablish the absolute supremacy of the vorin church. I'm assuming that he didn't realize that 9 of the heralds abandoned the oathpact.
  8. Here's what's going to happen. The good guys will wallop Odium, causing him to run away and hide in a corner. After years of being forgotten, a writer that is infinitely inferior to Brandon will "rescue" the series and create an incomprehensibly abhorrent remake. What I'm saying is that Books 6-10 will be the Robocop 2014 to the Robocop 1987 of Books 1-5
  9. You may be cool, but you'll never be Lift walking a chasmfiend cool
  10. So, with the first chapter of Stones Unhallowed/Skybreaker out in the open, I began thinking about what the point of view will be for the intro in the next 3 books. As was the case with The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance, the intros for at least the next 3 books will likely be different points of view on the night of Gavilar's assassination. So far, we've had Szeth and Jasnah. But who's next? For book 3, I expect Nalan or Kalak (or possibly Elhokar) to be the POV, with Nalan being the most likely. This is Szeth's book, and he will spend it traveling with Nalan from the frostlands to Shinovar. With this being the case, having Nalan as the point of view will fit the theme of the book and provide more information about the night of the assassination and would also give more insight into the conditions of the various heralds. For book 4, I think either an Alethi official (likely Amaram, Sadeas, or Restares) or a Parshendi (probably one of the 5 members of their council, maybe Eshonai) will be the focus. This will provide a more (but not completely) detailed account of what exactly Gavilar was planning, and hopefully explain what exactly he did that caused the Parshendi to assassinate him. And in book 5, I'm just going to say that Gavilar will be the point of view. Just as this arc is wrapping up, we will see the full extent of his plans and gain clues as to the long-term consequences of those plans. Also, we will finally be able to fully understand (and judge) his character after being in his head. So, what do you guys think? Who's next?
  11. That scene with Syl reminded me of the TV from Poltergeist.
  12. Only if Patrick Rothfuss puts out "Doors of Stone" before book 3. Trademarks and all that
  13. Here's what I'm expecting:
  14. Szeth. Oh boy. Szeth Szeth Szeth. Where do we begin? First off, how will his reappearance with an even more powerful weapon than Jezrien's honorblade appear to Dalinar? Kaladin says that he killed him (Szeth), but here's his brother's murderer walking around with the Rosharian equivalent of a nuke after slaughtering 7 honorblade wielders. That'll do wonders for everyone, I'm sure (sarcasm). Also, what about the black sphere? Will he retrieve it? What happens when the radiants find out about it? And what's in it? Let's say that the sphere contains Yelig-nar, as this is currently the most likely option. If this is the case, he's ALREADY INSIDE OF SZETH'S HEAD!!! There's a whole thread devoted to this, so I won't get into the details. If Blightwind is already talking to Szeth, what else can he do? Does he see what Szeth sees? Can he influence Szeth's actions? Strengthen him? Corrupt him? He could possibly turn Szeth into a mole and/or a walking time bomb carrying an even larger bomb! In short, Szeth is most definitely going to present a sizable conundrum to the radiants no matter WHAT he does in the third book. Also, in regards to Kaladin killing Helaran, it was partially protection and partially revenge. Helaran killed at a bunch of Kaladin's men on his way to Amaram, and ended up killing all but 4 of them. And keep in mind that he went OUT OF HIS WAY to slaughter those innocent soldiers! Either Shallan will accept that Helaran's death was his own fault (and that her brother wasn't as great as she thought he was) or she will have a complete mental breakdown. I don't see anything happening between those two extremes.
  15. Stormform could easily be the "standard infantry" form of the voidbringers, if that. No way it's the most powerful, having appeared in the second book. Think vehicons from Transformers Prime. They may look scary, and can probably do a lot of damage, but are nowhere near the largest threats or the best soldiers (and outside of a few cases, can't really do too much).
  16. Four things here. First, I highly doubt that Amaram will be going on trial anytime soon. It's just a vibe that I'm getting. Second, I don't think that Amaram's taking visitors. After all, he DID just kidnap Taln and regrouped with the Sons of Honor. Third, I could totally see Mraize trying to corrupt Shallan with this info, plus she won't have a chance to ask Kaladin about it (he's too busy awesomely flying around). And Fourth, I think that Shallan will be a bit too busy with handling Sadeas' murder (and his wife) for her to act on this "discovery" The only other way that I could see her finding out is if Syl or Pattern tell her (Pattern being the more likely).
  17. I really don't think that Dalinar and Lirin would converse well (at first, at least). It'll probably be something like this:
  18. Odium + Honor = Genghis Khan. It would go all around the Cosmere, honorably demanding a fair surrender (and absolutely destroying anyone who refused).
  19. I think that I can speak for everyone here when I say that
  20. I'm willing to bet that Kaladin is going to end up with one of Lopen's cousins. "Hey Gancho, now that you're glowing, you need a girlfriend. I've got a few cousins for that. I'll hook you up with them. You can go out to dinner, go flying, walk around all glowy, or glow and fly. Just make sure to dress to impress. Here's my hat-making cousin's business card. My cousins love hats."
  21. Do level 5 radiants leak stormlight? I'd think that they have perfect retention. From what I understand, stormlight is just pure energy, and not actually of any single shard. This would make it a poor material for a radiant's armor. Fuel? Yes. Material? No.
