The quote that Meg pulled strongly suggests that Breaths are innate Investiture. We also have this: Source:

The OP tells us that the Lurcher Coinshot is village-only, though now that I look back I suppose it could have been the mistborn...- 462 replies

Long Game 1: In the Wake of the Koloss
Kurkistan replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ah, thanks. I think rule discussion is pretty in-game, btw. --- So to discussion. If I were the Lurcher (and I'm not ), I would just target myself, so that leaves whoever the Coinshot is (also not me ) knowing who the Lurcher is and therefore knowing the identity of a friendly. This leaves the Lurcher free from the Coinshot's privations for the future and lets him/her focus on defending others, fear of the Spiked not-withstanding. That leaves the rest of us in the dark, but now the Lurcher can be a bit more proactive, so that's helpful.- 462 replies

Ummm... What just happened? The Coinshot went after someone who was Lurched? Do we get to find out who the target was?- 462 replies

He "unsheathed a sword", so no, that's not Darkness. Shardblade and all.
-
Yes, that, and talk of perceptions also ties neatly into the nature of spren.

Not all alloys of aluminum are inert. That's why the new super-aluminum-alloy that Miles' guns/bullets are made of is so special.

@Moogle No problem. @Aether No. The passage in question is an examination of Siri that determines, among other things, her virginity. EDIT:
-
Breaths varying in strength is in the book itself, so there's no need to WoB on it. Siri is noted as having a strong Breath, for instance.

My thoughts as well. Shallan was like "I understand none of that" and I was like "I understand a surprising amount of that!" Quite. I think you might be taking the wrong message away from this. Jasnah takes pains to say that Shadesmar as "independent" and/or separate is not the right way to think of it. I was thinking Recreance, actually. The KR were still being all surgebindy up 'till then.

Yes, this is what will happen. We have WoB that the first five books' prologues will all be different perspectives on the night of the assassination.

Selfish Post - Need Personal Recommendation
Kurkistan replied to Bloodfalcon's topic in Entertainment Discussion
I quite like the Vlad Taltos ("It's pronounced tal-tosh!") books by Steven Brust (pronounced "broost"). There's about a dozen of them out now and their good reads. -
Feathertips and Featherblades
Kurkistan replied to Mailliw73's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
I must admit that I laughed a tad when I imagined Feather's scream of horror at Shallan getting all betrothed to Adolin. -
Also, the shade of blue for the uniform is much better, no more faded denim.

I think going from "gender roles are restrictive" to "a malevolent entity likely put them in place" is a bit of a leap.

UPDATE/NECRO: Some very interesting stuff from WoR: So I think I'll just crack open a bottle of champagne here. Beyond patting myself (mightily) on the back,: So spren come to life in the Cognitive. I'm (obviously, since I'm highly biased) going to hazard that the "ideas of collective human experience" that they're based on have their non-alive existence in the Spiritual as Forms, then. This passage also locks in spren as our illusive "mostly Cognitive beings".
-
Very nice. My own impressions: Intuition as Cognitive is interesting, deals some small amount of violence to Breaths not being Cognitive, if instinctive Awakening works through intuition... -Perhaps I'll withdraw to Commands as based on Forms to save the day? Spren stuff was intensely interesting. I'll quote the whole passage: So I think I'll just crack open a bottle of champagne here. Music is kind of their thing, as we saw in the Eshonai interlude and their battle-singing and all, so I doubt that Parshendi require specific forms to be musical. Have to import them from Shinovar and all.

He looks younger and doesn't have a bandanna, so that's nice. Where'd you get it? I see that the image is stored on Tor's site, but can't seem to find it conventionally.

It's unclear. The fact that aluminum can't be compounded (just "poofing" away when you try), as well as how Vin only sensed Sazed's stored strength after she started burning pewter suggests that you have to burn allomantically for at least a moment before the feruchemical reserve becomes available to burn. But then Brandon said that you can't burn it allomantically at all, though he seemed less than certain at the time. Most agree, though, that it's likely the case that, once you're burning something for its feruchemical effect, you don't get the allomantic one any more. We have WoB that basically says as much. Long story short: no, Miles almost certainly does not have to constantly be experiencing the effects of Allomantic gold in order to compound Feruchemical gold.

SAO has a second season coming up, actually; on that note, I actually wouldn't call Log Horizon similar to SAO in anything but its basic premise. The focus is quite different, although saying how it's different would spoil at least a bit of the series.

Brandon has indicated that there are a range of spren who can be called "honorspren": Source: Source:
