I can't recall that question. I know that I've been trying to get someone to ask if surgebinders have gemhearts, but I haven't gotten any takers yet.
-
Considering that "[f]abrials can replicate all of the Surgebinding abilities", I think that modern fabrial science might not have plumbed the depths of what's possible. Also recall that fSoulcasters quite clearly break your "functional/mechanical" requirement for fabrials. I always read Dalinar's "the ancients had no fabrials" as in the context of the run-of-the-mill people not having fabrials, not the super-special-awesome KR.
-
If you look at the chart, though, Heliodor as a polesone is definitely not a "deep red". Even Topaz (order 9) is a slightly-reddish yellow, if that. I will serve up my arm as a delicacy to my dog if that wasn't a fabrial in the Starfalls vision. I'd think that the "calm white" glowing is likely just the KR infusing themselves, versus the colored-light being from their armor.
-
I think it makes a bit of sense, what with the whole "containing stormlight and glowing" thing.
-
That logic doesn't necessarily follow. Gemstones hold stormlight and glow quite fiercely for days at a time: I don't think that faster/slower "leaking" can necessarily be correlated to how brightly an infused object/person glows.

Wait just a minute! I was looking at the interview for an unrelated reason, but this is all Brandon's fault! Source: To be fair, then, I guess that Brandon was acknowledging the truth/lie dialectic. I suppose that the theory that the strength of the truth depends on the depth of the lies has some merit.

Well we know she's wrong about the "origins" of Honor and Cultivation. She essentially gets the chicken–egg problem wrong: Spren are divided into two types, so Jasnah thinks that the idea of Honor/Cultivation came from that separation. But we know that the Shards predated their associated Spren, of necessity, so if there is any causal relationship (and their likely is, given sprens' composition) then Jasnah has it going the wrong way. Massive tangent: I do love how Shallan is unconsciously warding against evil during this whole speech.
-
That's an interesting point on the two orders being diametrically opposed. I'm not 100% behind the need to divide the orders up between Honor and Cultivation, but I can see doing it the way you do if that ends up being the case.
-
I can't say I'm on board with all this talk of this or that being "of Odium" or "touched by Odium" or the like. Human nature can count for quite a lot. Tangent: I keep thinking of that scene in The Mummy Returns "He ain't happy without a good curse. 'This is cursed. That is cursed.'"
-
She could be wearing a glove like Shallan does, due to the late hour. Also, apparently the taboo, at least among other women, isn't as strong as we think. Shallan had her safehand uncovered in her room and was fine with leaving it uncovered to rush and get Jasnah faster. That and Jasnah's “put on some clothing" are a weaker reactions than we'd expect for violations of stronger taboos. That indicates that a woman having her safehand uncovered isn't quite like walking around naked. More like in your underwear or something? *Stops talking about women running around naked/in-underwear*

I laughed out loud when I saw Cryptics called "liespren". Brandon/Peter must have been holding back laughter for years at us calling them "Truthspren".

Okay then, I'll put up a cropped version of the endpaper for now. I don't think we have a high enough resolution on the cover just yet. EDIT: It looks nice, if I do say so myself.

That was very brave of you to send WoK as the initial bait. Even Brandon doesn't suggest doing that. (Rust it, can't find the source. And I'm usually link-man ). I thrown Mistborn at a few people, to moderate success. TES is now my go-to for attempted conversions, though I've only tried one so far and it failed.

I was specifically responding to Moogle's (understandable, since I've made it myself) claim that you needed to be a Scadrian to perform Hemalurgy.

"Genetics" for sDNA is weird. Source:

I seriously doubt it. First of all, nearly all, if not just all, prevailing theories have the Feruchemist's Spiritual Aspect influencing what metalminds they can use, and two people would have different souls, as turns out. Beyond even that, identical twins aren't even guaranteed to both be Ferrings, let alone of the same type. Source:

Something like that. You assume here that each Radiant gets a new and unique Blade and that Blades normally outlast their Radiants. (Oooh, new crazy-theory: Blades are new/unique to each owner and, when not "abandoned" like in the vision, are supposed to die with their owners) They also have a habit of dying and going to Damnation then coming back to life, so we might not want to use their particular brand of immorality for evidence for anything else just yet. Also, not to nitpick, but we aren't sure that Heralds can Infuse. Darkness==Nalan is just a theory and we haven't seen any other "Heralds" Infuse. Now that's fairly compelling evidence. See, this is why we make arguments for things. A fair enough parallel to draw.

Hemalurgy can be performed by anyone who's trying to do it.

Where did you get that KR don't age?
