  1. No no, it's quite a good sign that we came to that conclusion separately.
  2. I had vague suspicions of you on and off, but weaker than those I had for dyring and Aether.
  3. Nice catch, I don't think I've seen this mentioned before.
  4. Yeah, I attacked Quinn, that suspicious character. It resulted in my getting in touch with him over PM later, which would have been more advantageous if my suggested course of action to him hadn't directly resulted in his death.
  5. Fair enough.
  6. Ah, I'd interpreted "close" as "touch"; though I think at least a few of the thugs were a fair distance away when she got them.
  7. *Cough Jasnah coughcough*
  8. Of course we must all recall the The Last Airbender film. Honestly selling Avatar is annoyingly caveat-filled: "No, it's not Avatar like the Cameron movie. No, it's nothing like that terrible Shyamalan film. Well yes, it has the same general plot points as the film, but... It's just better. And yes it's a 'cartoon' but that doesn't mean 'bad'..."
  9. Who says me and Weiry are OCD? *Totally didn't just peruse the Ruin-sheet word-searching for the 123 entries of "ku"* Some comments on your comments: @Aether/Meta So far as my steel-trapping mind goes, 21 pages of arguments might be a bit much for me @Claincy Sorry I forgot about you being somewhat tangentially involved in that one RP group. Also, I did give a way for the Grand Coalition to indicate roles, but in a later version of the code that Beetle didn't share on the Doc.
  10. @Windy That was my initial inclination as well.
  11. Good idea. I thought about doing something like that, but my wiki-fu is weak.
  12. I don't get the impression that Dalinar intends to keep all these Plates/Blades. More like hold onto them a bit and then give them back once the Highprinces are done having their tantrum.
  13. I hate to disagree with my business associate Ms. Feather, but I have to go with puppyspren. A kitten wouldn't be that stupid.
  14. Brandon has been blogging/tweeting about this for a bit now, but for those who haven't noticed: Brandon offered a stretch goal for a Worldbuilders' charity drive, the reward being that he would live-stream himself writing a story while collaborating with/taking the suggestions of viewers. This is happening this Friday (Jan. 17) from 2-7 PM Mountain time (-7 UTC). I'm very bad at judging the appropriateness of these things, but would it be overreaching for us to ask Cosmere questions in the "extended Q&A"? Either way, I thought people might appreciate a place to discuss this. Maybe us Sharders could pre-brainstorm some ideas/suggestions to give to Brandon?
  15. Yeah, that'll do it.
  16. Sorry for making you endure that, some of them are a bit of a slog. Mainly I like to keep them in mind because they contain, to my knowledge, all of our FTL-relevant WoB's. There was some discussion of using Feruchemical steel in this thread; I believe that the conclusion was that pesky relativity doesn't buy it when you say "but what if I go really fast, can I go faster than c then?!"
  17. Just to be sure that the fun of the hunt is maintained, would you mind PM'ing me the final word in the hunt and then I'll give you the full url?
  18. Thanks for the update. Yeah, making it public might be for the best. There was a bit of acrimony here on the site when we were still a bit confused about how widely we could share the code, and I imagine that similar situations repeated in other places on the interwebs.
  19. And if you really want to have some mechanism, a pair of chutes will probably be your best bet: Release the spheres from inside a building into the cage on the outside for a few minutes, then open up a chute on the bottom to bring them back in.
  20. Time bubbles!!!
  21. What an interesting conclusion...
  22. Hello Gaussian, good first theory. That's a good catch that Aonic teleportation seems to constitute FTL travel. It is likely of a different kind than Scadrian FTL, though, since we have been given reason to believe that Scadrian ships traverse space, rather than "beaming" between two points. I may or may not have a few theories pertaining to Scadrian FTL...
  23. Ooooh... You know what, I'm on Bloodfalcon's side here. What is this "spoilers" you speak of?
  24. Presumably something along the lines of "well, with the KR successfully re-founded and my Truthless dead, I suppose..." References to events that have yet to happen in the chapters we've seen, or the like.
  25. Someone with the resources to make, maintain, and use the retractable thing with a low enough catastrophic failure rate that it is worth using would also have the resources to just install a really sturdy cage.
