  2. If you're not in the know, here's the deal: not only will there be an Elantris sequel, there's going to be two of them! From Brandon's blog:
  3. Sigh, you're gonna make me close the topic, aren't you.
  4. A lot of the things that I say I "hear" are "things Mi'chelle told me". There's a reason she's an admin besides being a founder: they are freakishly good at stalking. So, I don't have a citation for you. But it's one of those factoids where I can be reasonably certain it's been said. And, you should all fall for the logical fallacy on Argument from Authority and believe my authority, right?
  5. Just because you're the Executor of my opinions doesn't mean you can copy me. How dare you use my own logic?
  6. Fairly self-explanatory. What are you reading now? At the moment, I'm not reading any fiction. Instead, it's my advanced calculus book, A Friendly Introduction to Analysis. The book is well-written, but putting "friendly" in the title isn't fooling anyone, Dr. Kosmala.
  7. Heck, dude, that Barnes and Noble Q&A was where we discovered the word Splinter to begin with. The fact that Brandon used the word Splinter suggests to me that it is a very precise term in cosmere metaphysics, like Shard (of course, Shardblades certainly confuse that matter. But I stick with my logic!) I'm absolutely certain that the pools are directly related to the Cognitive Realm. (lerasium beads are related to the Physical Realm, mists to the Spiritual Realm) I don't think the terms like Sliver are well defined. That is certainly the best candidate for Endowment's name. I do believe Brandon said that the Tears are related to Endowment.
  8. Sure thing. Here's a good place to put them, because there isn't really a place for unpublished stuff. Dragonsteel was Brandon's masters thesis when he was getting a masters in Creative Writing. There's one copy in existence at the BYU library, though some forumers tell me that that copy may have been destroyed or kept. If a new one is bound, you may be able to get it on Inter-Library Loan. On the same world, Liar of Partinel is the book Brandon was working on before the Wheel of Time got dumped on him. A draft of it was completed, but Brandon isn't happy with it. He tried discovery writing with it, and apparently it didn't work well. He had to put it on hold. Apparently, you can find a few sample chapters of it on his website if you look hard enough. That's the simple version. Here's a little more detailed version: It is confirmed that Liar of Partinel is a duology, with Liar being the first one (the second one may be called the Lightweaver of Rens, if I recall correctly). Dragonsteel will be set a couple hundred years later, and will be five books long. Today, Brandon explained pretty much everything for his later books. He said that the main Dragonsteel epic won't start until after Stormlight Archive is finished. As for theories, Yolen (the planet these books take place) is extremely important. Brandon said Hoid was there when Adonalsium was Shattered. It's also important to note that the person we now know as Hoid is in fact Midius from Liar of Partinel (it's been confirmed!). This leads us to believe Liar is the book where Adonalsium gets Shattered (or I guess its sequel). Certainly, Brandon isn't emailing copies of Liar around, because he said "it spoils too much".

  10. Oh, I know. I'll greet the spambots if they nice spambots. It's only polite EDIT: Also, how else am I gonna keep my post count up, eh? ...

  13. Slight Way of Kings spoiler: there's a Shardholder on Sel (the world of Elantris) named Aona, which we have summarily assumed is related to AonDor. So, what is the name of the Shard that she holds? Snatched from the Odium on Sel topic: It sounds reasonable, Andrew, but your logic only applies to the pool. What does Relief have to do with AonDor? That's my only hesitation with endorsing Relief. Remember, Endowment for Warbreaker was the perfect name for that Shard, because it tied into Awakening excellently.
  14. You conception about Ruin and the atium is correct. If Ruin found it, he would just immediately metabolize it, and the world would fairly instantly be destroyed. When atium has been burned, he can't go access it there. The fact that Odium can't destroy Aona and Skai's power seems to suggest that the Law of Conservation of Energy always, always applies. It just changes form. I'm gonna create a separate topic about Aona's Shard name. That definitely deserves its own discussion.
  15. Very nice! Speaking from someone with zero graphic design experience (so, you know, take that with a grain of salt), but you may be able to make her seem speedier by making her in a different pose, one that shows her in motion. Right now, she just seems like she's standing, which makes her feel more like a slow ghost than a zippy spren.
  16. Will (Shivertongue) is just happy he has some power to lord over some people Good to have you here, Syl!
  17. Take it from a math major: if there was any evidence for intrinsic "ordering" of specific Shards (say, for example, that Endowment needs for some reason be #12 or whatever), I have not seen it all. I think these numbers (like the significance of ten and sixteen) speak to something intrinsic to the cosmology. The Shards aren't attached to specific numbers like you suggest.
  18. Other wonderful greetings include "Lord Ruler!" and "Merciful Domi!" Though those aren't quite so deliberately negative as "Storm you"
  19. Hey, my brother lives in SoCal at the moment! Very cool. I'm the forum administrator, Eric. You'll see me around when I'm not doing upper division mathematics homework, like Advanced Calculus. Wee

  21. Welcome, Truthless! Good to have you here.
  22. Yeah, he certainly likes to torment you.
  23. I usually have a TWG tab and a tab here open. Not that I always have time to check them, especially TWG... EDIT: You guys are kicking my butt on stalking these forums.
  24. There's not really any mystery to it being over Halloween, I should think. It's merely the fact that it was always slated for early November release, and this is the first Tuesday of November. Nothing mysterious there
