  1. Okay, I can see that, but we ought to make titles succinct. The Ars was just giving a short description of the event because it looked nice typographically
  2. I spoke with Kerry about this. Since Brandon referred to Inquisitors, koloss, and kandra as separate races multiple times, they should be in Races and Creatures. I don't think we know enough about Parshmen and Parshendi to justify them being as human, so I'd say Races and Creatures for that, too. Is there a reason we even need a division for "humans"? That doesn't seem helpful. "Cultures", "viewpoint characters", "characters", would be much more distinctive. In my mind, I'm interpreting "Race" more like a separate species than a different ethnicity, you know?
  3. Hey mycoltbug, Just saw the names of the Lashings are kind of long. Perhaps we should just name them "Full Lashing" "Reverse Lashing" and "Partial Lashing" instead of trying to add their descriptions to the article name. Great job and thanks for contributing 8) Just wanted to point that out to you.
  4. Well, that image really does look like it could be Sephiroth anyways.
  5. If you haven't, already, Gabrielle, could you post that topic in the Stormlight Archive forum here, too? That's awesome stuff.
  6. Only when I was at dad's place. Small town in Montana = crappy internet access. When I visited my mom in Portland I had broadband.

I'm pretty sure everything is influenced inside the bubble, so much so, that you--being inside the bubble--wouldn't be able to perceive the difference in your heart rate, etc. (I liken this to how celestial bodies work, or how we can't notice a constant velocity. You only notice the car accelerating. Once you get up to speed, your body effectively stops feeling the velocity. You only know you're moving because you can see the effects. Likewise, we don't feel the Earth rotating or the Earth moving around the sun, because it's a constant velocity). You'd just know time was slower due to the difference of things moving outside of it. As such, I would love to be a Soother.
  8. Background knowledge, in case you don't know who Shiro is: he's evil. He's responsible for the internet going out inexplicably. He makes a great scapegoat when there's no other rational reason! If you hate your internet going out, you should join me and start respecting Shiro, so he doesn't smite us (and secretly praising the Anti-Shiro. Shiro erased that dude's name, because Shiro is annoying like that). Why was this demon named Shiro? For this reason: Shiro was a character in the MMO Guild Wars Factions. In some excessively convoluted reasoning, he came back from the dead and brought this weird plague with him. Yeah, I don't know. It made sense at the time. Anyways, when you beat him in that game, some old dude says "We have a special place in the underworld for him... a place of eternal torment." Now, realize that at this time, I was on dial-up, and my internet went out a heck of a lot trying to get to Shiro. I was rather annoyed. But then it hit me. A "place of eternal torment"? Holy crap, it's a dial-up modem! There's nothing more eternally tormenting. So, I began blaming dial-up on Shiro's malevolence. Later, when I banished dial-up forever, Shiro grew in strength. Router goes out? Shiro. Did that snow storm knock out your power which prevented you from internet access? Shiro must be growing powerful. Apparently Shiro also has a cat form, though I can't fathom how that came about. So now you know, if I've spoken of Shiro and you didn't know what I'm talking about! Let's join in here and reduce his evil power! And hopefully, he won't garble this message.
  9. Yeah, they've been tweeting a lot... I go class for an hour, and they've tweeted 28 times. I'm @EricLake.
  10. No, that's a valid point. When there's new icons for everything, there will be icons for those, too. So that's kind of why it looks weird now, as it's a relic of the forums not being "done". It matches the color scheme, so it doesn't eyerape, but it certainly needs help. They didn't have an icon originally because those aren't default SMF buttons. We had to steal the command elsewhere.
  11. No, I agree. Especially before it was published, we called it "the letter". Of course, it was usually "Hoid's letter", but still
  12. For the simple answer for how all of us met: through Brandon's work, and his forums on TWG. I spoke with Mi'ch a ton before she met Josh. I met Kerry when she heavily persuaded me to join the Mistborn RP. And Will is a member of the writing group on TWG, Reading Excuses, so I met him there. But yeah, mostly, we all know each other because we love Brandon's stuff.
  13. Oh, shoot, looks like I'm the last one to post this. Darn! Hey everyone, my name is Eric Lake. I'm a junior at Montana State University, and I'm majoring in Applied Math. So now you know why I speak so much of logic in the theories threads I have been known to, on occasion, teach calculus to people forcibly. In my spare time, I write, probably from Brandon's influence (silly good writing and all that). It should come as no surprise to you that I admin the Mistborn RP here. You should join, because the more people pestering me to post makes it easier to rationalize me losing time on my own stuff. Eons ago, back when we could blame the aether, I ran a few forums, too, so I eventually persuaded Mi'chelle to let me be the forum admin, back when this site wasn't a reality. So mostly what you'll see me do is post in theory threads and make sure you're getting things right Oh, hm, I should probably explain my username and my avatar. Let's start with my avatar. If you play Guild Wars, you'll recognize him as the villain from Factions, Shiro Tagachi. He's the person who I now blame when the internet goes out. He's my avatar so he's appeased and doesn't strike down my router as much (also, he looks cool). I don't remember where my username came from. It probably had something to do with the word "chaos" sounding cool, and then I picked some numbers after it. And two is my favorite number, so it started with that. All throughout the internet, Chaos2651 should be me. Except for Skype, apparently, when some polish guy took it (personally, I blame Shiro). Oddly enough, though, this username doesn't reflect my personal worldview on the world. I couldn't be a math major if I didn't know the universe has logic to it, eh? Anyways, you'll see me around, I'm sure.
  14. Welcome, SaxRussel! Good to have you here. I love Mistborn, too, it's my favorite Theorycrafting. I like that. We should start putting that on our resumes. "Yes, I theorycrafted for ten years now!"
  15. Good to have you here, Jonathon! I'm not totally sure if we have other non-Americans here, you might be the first. I say this without having done an analysis, of course, but still Welcome, welcome!
  16. Your mother is a hamster I'm not quite sure a hampster is. A hamper that's also a... dumpster? Haha. Good to have you here, man!
  17. ...Anyways! Hey Gabrielle! Good for you to make it in this little corner of the internet
  18. Hey bwm! Good to have you here!
  19. The center justify looks good. I would prefer if we named the Part Two epigraphs "The letter" (or, "the missive", as that's the term the author uses) instead of "Hoid's Letter". Since we don't explicitly know it's him, we sorta need to be impartial on our naming conventions.
  20. (Apologies in advance, posting from my Droid) We could probably put a gradient there. SMF is pretty skinnable. As for the point about the link tree at the top, I know how to change that. I totally didn't think of that, so thanks for bringing that up. I would also reiterate that the buttons and images are very archaic and definitely need changing. See, the thing is that this is an edited version of the YaBB classic skin. And its, well, classic. So yeah, those are ancient. I think once we get those up and some accents (yellow is also a good idea, which I like from the main page) would warm up things and alleviate the coldness. Of course, I love blue, so I am a little biased
  21. I thought your title was Grand Hegemon Leader-Czar.
  22. Yeah, I totally missed that. My bad
  23. Indeed, now that I see it, you did. I wasn't explicitly linking the discovery with Link, just saying that it was fairly indisputable.
  24. We think. It might also be Bavadin, or someone else entirely. I find the idea that Odium is held by anyone other than Rayse to be patently ridiculous. For one, that means Rayse holds the "most frightening and terrible of all the Shards." If Bavadin held Odium, that means Rayse has something else, even more fearsome, which means everyone is in effect, completely screwed. Plus, Will asked on my behalf at the Chicago signing, "Did Odium go to Sel before Elantris". He said yes. Unless you want to really complicate things (and hey, that's my job to needlessly complicate things ) and have another Shard go to Sel, instead of obviously associating Rayse with Odium, go ahead. I await that theory topic
  25. Being equals in each others eyes isnt the same as equal permissions in the board's eyes. Administrator -> Global Moderator = less power in the software, meaning it would be a demotion. For example, say if i was considered "part" of the admin team. However, my board status was kept as member. While you guys would all listen to and back my opinions, judgements and ideas, i still would have to call out for help for administration purposes. As soon as my status changed to that of a global moderator, it would be a clear promotion in terms of ability. Changing from Administrator to global moderator is the opposite, a clear demotion in terms of ability, regardless of how you guys treat him Or, maybe I just thought it was "effing retarded" to have six administrators on a forum of sixty people. That's like having the Secretary of the Navy having equal power in the Secretary of Energy's domain. Same ranking, different domain. Excuse my french, but sorry. Perhaps these subtleties are a bit too much. Anyways, no more talk of this. Back to fan art. This is epic.
