  1. Boooooooo. Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
  2. YOU KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE SCHEDULE WAS. DO NOT LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT
  3. What else is there to say? It is the last section of Words of Radiance. You know what's coming. You know Alyx will freak. And stress about Renarin until she seems him... Look, I'm not going to spoil it. Enjoy. There will be one more Splintercast tomorrow, one that's a whole book wrap-up, but other than that, we're done! Did you listen to all of Splintercast? Give us some feedback!
  4. Looking at the Newcago Court's recent incredible dorkiness, I say we not RP in this thread. That's just... too time consuming. I want us to relax and bask in our power here.
  5. Are the Ghostbloods and the Seventeenth Shard working together? Was Pai a Worldhopper? Has Cultivation Invested herself on Ashyn? (and for my favorite...) If Nightblood had been given a very different Command, say, "moo upon being unsheathed," would the sword still consume Investiture? (Many thanks to this thread for that inspiration.)
  6. Oh, I've been extremely slacking these past months until that point. I had been very busy, and not much time for posting. Now I do Must reclaim my position...
  7. I hadn't seen such speculation, so forgive me. I avoided the Words of Radiance board for the most part for reasons you can surely suspect. Let me continue the passage a bit. Okay, so. Important to note the shorter, "Alethi" man was the one talking about the lord's blade. This makes sense. It has long been discussed that the Azish dude is Nalan. Obviously, Nalan would have an intense stare and say "shut up". Nalan might not refer to Jezrien as a king, but this other Herald might. And as I type this, I grow more convinced that he is in fact a Herald. He referred to them as "we". EDIT: Thanks to Tempus, this has indeed been discussed before: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/7475-heralds-in-the-prologue/?hl=shallash Multiple times, in fact. This board has too many dang posts
  8. So, story time. Today I was catching up on all threads on 17th Shard, especially ones in this board. This involved me going through RShara's wonderful Word of Brandon thread, and I saw this: Meanwhile, I go looking on my Words of Radiance term sheet for new wiki articles, because, y'know, I'm a giant nerd. So I go searching for the terms that don't have wiki articles. One near the top? Ash. And what do we have in the Prologue? This passage is way the heck more weird when you know that Ash is the nickname of Shalash. And they suspect she's getting worse. On first reading with this revelation, I want to say that the others are Heralds too, but then they are refer to, presumably, Szeth carrying "their lord's" Blade. I don't know what to think about that. However, this can't be coincidental. There are lots of mentions of "Ash's eyes" in the book, which now we know refer to Shalash thanks to that quote above. These people knew Shalash. That much is certain. EDIT: It occurs to me that the "my lord" could refer to Jezrien, as he was the King of Heralds, and Szeth holds his Honorblade.
  9. I say we murder him in secret for being too freaking clever.
  10. I am allowed to change titles and ranks at will, and add or subtract them.
  11. Yes, but mine are named better. Other Sith ranks are just weird. And yes, we definitely must own these mercenaries.
  12. Done and done, on both accounts. I have, in fact, created ranks and titles and a roster for us. The ranks (separate from titles) are: Emperor (for me only) Darth Knight Apprentice You can view the roster here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AWpFLzUTOlPNnLW351QmtknNUPUUU4L-JWEV4Lle-Is/edit?usp=sharing Darths will be quite rare. Knights will be the usual rank, and Apprentices are inductees. To be a Knight you must select a rank and be semi-active in our palace (this topic). One post does not qualify for Knight, at least. I still need titles from GreenMonsta, Kasimir, Ashiok, and Kobold King. I have also included our friends (from the war topic) and general allies. Lurthemir, GreyPilgrim, Curiosity, Theorymaker, The Shardbearing Elephant, and last but not least Khyrindor, you are all invited to join the Lords of Chaos for UNLIMITED POWER and awesome. There are also waffles. Let me know if I missed anyone.
  13. Double post because I can. Kurkistan! I shall pass you soon yet again!
  14. Let me respond to this here, because I'm scared how long my reply to Realmatic Attributes will be. Perhaps I did not make this clear when I described Physical magics. It isn't just about how restrictive the abilities are, though that's a part of it. What is really special is that Allomancy and Feruchemy are inherent by birth, whereas you can actually acquire Spiritually dominant magics (and magics with a high Spiritual component, like AonDor) from your actions and who you become. One corresponds with the platonic ideals of you, whereas that is not important in Allomancy and Feruchemy. Allomancy and Feruchemy's upper bound of absolute power is hard capped, whereas Surgebinding's "strength" can be increased a great deal. And, because of that very key difference, the magics have different types of focuses. The Physical object of metal is essential for one, whereas a Physical focus is irrelevant to Surgebinding. I should probably refine the Realmatic Attributes post to include this. Does the categorization I used make a bit more sense?
  15. The way reputation is stored is (like many things with this board's software) needlessly complex, though I understand why they made it the way they did.
  16. Because Shades freaking terrify me. Seriously, perhaps the creepiest line I never read was the one in Shadows for Silence where they said "No, there are no predators. The Shades killed them all."
  17. I just looked at the logs of our Spam Service, and man, you do not want to know how many freaking things there would be had that not been on. So yeah, things are working, just this new influx isn't being caught by IPS's Spam Service.
  18. Uh, you know, everything with dynamic content on the internet has some sort of way the information is stored. These are databases. It is nothing special about this site.
  19. This, I'd say, is the biggest flaw of Words of Radiance, but it couldn't be helped.
  20. It still seems pretty lame. The Heralds themselves must have had a lot of inherent abilities besides these, because it doesn't seem quite right for the Heralds to train Radiants for Desolations when the Radiants are so superior in their Surgebinding ability.
  21. Hey guys. Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance is almost over. The last episode will be posted after midnight, so not too far away, then I think Saturday I'll post Alyx's Words of Radiance wrap-up. Given that we are almost done, I want some feedback on how it all works. How did you like Splintercast? What should we change? The most obvious feedback would be "stick with a schedule" and "get them iTunes". The scheduling issues were not ideal, and we're sorry. It was a combination of bad timing on both Alyx and I's part. As for iTunes, I'll work on it after the last Splintercast is up. But other than those, what else? Did you like the episode structure? Would you prefer shorter, more frequent episodes (say, one chapter at a time more often)? We were kind of shooting in the dark here, so I want to know
  22. Mostly because others generally get confused by the database and the Lord Ruler doesn't mind database hunting. I'm that good at burning bronze.
