I'm pretty sure you're being ultra paranoid and you have nothing to worry about. If I were in your shoes I would not be worried at all. You really should not worry unless it was a super seedy site, and even so, Google knows which sites are malware (which they warn you of in Chrome). You would almost certainly never get such a thing even if you went to the page, much less just that Google image thing. Unless you have reason to think your computer is suddenly having malware, relax dude. You are ultra paranoid

They were little awards that appeared on the left, near where your avatar was. They were given out for mostly silly things. But yeah, it was a forumwide award system.

The reason? I mistakenly removed the awards because I thought it was causing problems in this iteration of 17S. (For you young'ins, this was at the very beginning of this iteration of 17S. So if you've only ever known 17S to look like this, it's been a while.) Then, though I could've sworn I have the database of that stuff, I can't find it. Tl;dr: I'm an idiot. So awards will come back but it'll be guesstimation to restore old things. It'll probably all be new stuff. We're late in this cycle of Invision Power Board, so this will probably wait until the next big release. Soon™.

Maintenance is done. Everything should be working fine. Let me know if there are any problems. Among other things, this fixes some IE11 issues with the editor, so that's a plus.

I will never understand people who think Way of Kings is superior to Words of Radiance. I literally cannot fathom it. Guys. Kaladin drawing Syl. Urithiru. The Everstorm and the Highstorm meeting. Vasher. Shallan. Nightblood. I do like the end of Way of Kings. It's good. (I maintain the method that the Voidbringer reveal was terrible, though.) But it was a small scale ending, a very small scale one. Words of Radiance was massive and glorious. Words of Radiance was a far more tightly plotted book. The Way of Kings is, I feel, an extensive prologue, honestly, but Words of Radiance is the meat to the series. Words of Radiance was such a natural extension for all the characters. I don't understand the complaints of "they need to talk to each other!" Yes, they do, but it makes total sense why they didn't. Words of Radiance, hands down. You guys who think Way of Kings is better are weird. But then, remember I did not love Way of Kings when I first read it. It's grown on me. But Words of Radiance made me scream "eff yeah!" three times in my apartment late at night, and Way of Kings didn't come close.

Unfortunately, it is mutually exclusive. I am disabling the option. EDIT: In theory, Moogle, it is possible to do so, but the editor is... not nice to alter. And soon™ we'll be on a newer version entirely, which will mean any work expended on it will not be useful

Hey guys, Just an FYI that I'll be doing some site maintenance tonight, around 11pm PST. Nothing user-facing, unfortunately, just software updates which means that our software will be down during that period.

I agree with Windy's assessment, and like the others, I am not a fan of the Investiture-canceling term. That's fine; that wasn't relevant to your original point Windy. I think it's hard to come up with a name when we don't know the mechanism on why this works the way it does. That... that is a brilliant. It's simple and elegant. So much so that I'd be astonished if that isn't close to the mark on how it works. Have a billion upvotes.

Hah, go for it! Honestly, I feel stupid for not having enabled it sooner. I knew it was possible--the main Invision Power Board forums did that--but jeez, they did not make it easy to find where it was. Oh well. I learn more of this software all the time.

For many who register and don't post much, it can be hard to remember what your username is. People have asked why can't you login with your email address instead? Well, I've always wanted this. In fact, I've looked for this ability for a very long time and at last figured out how to enable it. So at last you can log in with your email address rather than your username! Hopefully this helps!

This is an audio reaction podcast. The initial episode skips around because some sample chapters were already released before Alyx could react. This is not an analytical podcast, so you may want to steer away. It is a very differently styled thing, to appeal a different audience. Not to say that there aren't improvements to be made, but it probably is not your thing. (Also, you can't exactly do a podcast reading the entire thing out loud, for obvious reasons.)

Email verification, actually, is a pretty bad way of weeding out spam bots; lots get through that. Hence the need for another spam filter. However I don't know why it is being so finicky now...

I've gotten emails. The spam service is saying some emails are spam is all. I don't know what to do about it since it's on the weakest setting, but it does catch a lot of spam. This has been a new problem in the past month. *shrug*

Okay. You need to calm down. My job on here is to keep members in line. I do not seek to agitate or anger you. All I seek is that you take care in your word choice. By being courteous you will not have a great many people downvote you, and I take downvoting very seriously as a reflection of how the community feels about a post. And go take a look at them. Can you be more courteous? Go have a drink of water, cool down a bit, and tell me that you genuinely think they were not overly aggressive. You can tone them down. And in courteous posts, what do you know? You get upvotes. It really is that simple. It has absolutely nothing to do with the points you make, but how you make them. And my official warning to you is that if you cannot be kind and courteous to other people here--not just moderators and admins, but each and every member--then, frankly, you are not welcome here. I look forward to seeing you post in a mature matter and hope to see many intelligent, well thought-out posts from you for a long time to come. But first, be kind to others. Technically, we only knew that Liar of Partinel was pre-Shattering. It isn't clear how the Dragonsteel timeline will now work. Also, White Sand is not clear in the chronology, though I would guess early. But how early is anyone's guess. However, when Hoid was first being discovered when only Elantris and Mistborn were out, Brandon did say they are the same person in both books.
