I don't have a lot of time, but in the way you wrote it, it is not conducive for a Taylor series approximation in the higher orders as you'd need to expand a lot of stuff out. It'd be useful if you just wanted a first order approximation, though. I will also tell you advice on trig identities: at some point it's way easier to just derive them all in the complex plane. (That's how most are derived, and would be very tedious to do in the reals)

People like their fake internet points a lot, and this is the prime example of why multiple accounts aren't allowed. T'was good to get out the banhammer for such a pristine example of why it's against the rules.

I'm not sure how accurate that Amazon release date is. It could be, but the publication date is not finalized. They are shooting for "early November". Also "Oathbreaker" is probably quite a different book from Oathbringer

That, to my recollection, does not have a closed-form antiderivative. That x^3 makes it totally different from the x^2 version. So there is not a nice easy Calc 2 way to do that. If it was x^2...

Any irreducible quadratic can be written in the form (x-a)^2 + b^2 (the plus here makes it irreducible). And one over that denominator is a thing that you can manipulate into a 1/(u^2+1) integral, which leads to arctangent.

The integral you have is arctan(x). So generally you'll have an arctan term.

I mean, I've made a few topics searching for quotes before, so this is nice. I'm not the person to ask about the Ultimate List, sorry. That is a domain I passed off and don't want to spend brainpower thinking about. I do know Windrunner, WeiryWriter, and I are extremely, extremely busy with many things. I would generally say the Ultimate List is too big to be useful... I've looked there sometimes for good questions to ask, but there's a lot that is not great in there.

I'm not really opposed to either scenario, I'm just playing devil's advocate. I'm not sure summing up WoB in the OP is the wisest idea. The Ultimate List dies because it gets unwieldy. That's probably not the best solution. But, carry on, it should be fine for a while. (We know you're hurting for a better WoB database. We know )

I suppose, but it would be closer to the true essence of Stack Exchange, and if this becomes 50+ pages, I'm pretty sure topic names would be easier to search.
