Hey guys. We've just upgraded to Invision Power Board (courtesy of Joe, it should be noted)

I think all the data was converted, but it looks as if the avatars might not work.

I highly recommend you re-edit your profile settings with any contact information you want. I don't think those were preserved.

The interface should be skinned... sometime! Don't you worry about it. Contact me if you have any issues.

Okay, so we're still running into some skinning issues. We're making progress, but we're not quite there yet. Please bear with us: the forum software is already awesome, and soon the rest of the board will be better than ever!

Thanks! As a note to members who are having issues with the way the board is displaying, we've noticed some caching issues. So if the board is loading oddly for you, try clearing your browser's cache and reloading the page.

But we CAN tell you it's going to be amazing. Believe me, it's totally worth the wait.

Just based on the improvements we've already seen, that's true. If it's actually going to get better, then it was worth the wait several times over.

I have two questions.

  1. where do we go if we have questions on this new format?
  2. what do the grey dots under my name mean?

1. Feel free to post any questions in the Suggestions and Site Issues forum, or PM one of the admins.

2. They are little pips. The more posts you have, the more pips you get.

You can also post in this thread with any questions you have that aren't related to technical blips, such as questions about the pips.

yay for pips.

I suggest the 'staff' icon have less stars than the 'admin' icon ;)

Well, we're probably going to be redesigning those icons at some point anyways, and they might not even have the stars then. They mesh well with the overall color scheme, but we'd really like them to fit with the theme of the site better. They're just not that high on the priority list with everything else we have going on right now. That was a good catch, though; we're definitely going to be working on those. Thanks for the suggestion! ^^

A few questions

1) Can we still quote people while we are writing a post or do we have to choose to quote them before we start?

2) Is there any way for us to change the times it displays so we see our own time zones?

3) How did you make the new forums so amazing?

1- not that i've found, but you can "multiquote" to get several quotes at once. If you do find out that you wanted to quote someone else as well afterwards, what ive been doing is copying the whole post, hitting back, and hitting "quote" on the extra topic

2 - Yup. Should be in your user settings (click the down arrow next to your name up on the top left and pick "my settings". Should be the first setting in the list

3 - with $$ and love (but mostly cash)

Thanks

I saw I could change my display name, I wanted to change it from Som1else to SOM1else, because that is what I originally intended it to be but instead it went to som1else, is there a way to fix this? I saw I could change it up to three times but I dont want to waste them to see if it works

Done and done.

Also, the regular quote feature (quoting one person) is simply the Reply button.

As far as I know, though, I don't believe there's a way to quote someone in the middle of a post unless you just type the quote tags out by hand:

[quote][/quote]

But you still have to have the text ready that you want to quote. I don't know if you can get it to do that automatically from either of the reply screens.

WARNING, technical mumbojumbo below

Well I just checked it out, the easiest way would be if the 'topic summary' window under the 'proper' reply window would add an id attribute to each post with a unique id, but it's probably possible to write something that grabs the node the button is placed in and passes it to a function that pipes it into the postbox, surrounded in

.

I am definitely incapable of doing that myself, but if you want to try to code something to do that, be my guest. Additional functionality is always welcome around here! :D
