“No, the fact that you attacked me and haven’t given me a reason to keep you around means you’re now more useful dead.” He leaned forward, his smile dark. “Don’t you read the annotations, kid? I’m a psychopath. I like hurting people. You can’t make me feel guilty.

”So I suggest you stop trying.”

"Well... maybe my value extends beyond my skills."

Kelsier smiled. “Convince me.”

"I could probably go find that guy who hired me. I don't know who he is, but if he knew that I was attacking someone affiliated with the ghostbloods, then he must be an enemy in some way. He could have useful information or something."

“You’ve admitted that you don’t know who he is or what he looks like. He paid you in advance?”

"Not much. He said he'd be back at the pub once I finished my job."

“So I kill you, have a Kandra eat your body, and have someone both loyal and a half-decent actor do the meet.”

"You don't know which pub."

“Which pub is it?”

You can’t lie and you can’t refuse to answer. Just a reminder. Verity is Diana’s golden lasso.

I repeat: you cannot refuse to answer. Verity works like Wonder Woman’s lasso. It compels you to answer. Note that Kelsier has also been telling the truth throughout.

“Maybe. Answer anyway.”

"I don't remember what it was called. It was a small pub in a small town out in the roughs... I know my way back, but I don't remember any of the names."

So I’ve decided not to be super mean. Diana’s lasso can restore lost memories, so I could force Adrienne to remember. Kell has decided not to though.

Kelsier gazed thoughtfully at her, considering. “Well,” he said at last. “It seems your lack of attention has a benefit. You’ve earned a reprieve. Now, you’re going to show me where this tavern is.”

He paused, sending a coin to lightly hit the trap. A moment later Priére entered. “Sorry for the wait,” Kelsier said apologetically.

”It was no imposition, Lord,” Priére assured him, handing over the spike.

Kelsier smiled, holding it up to the light. “Excellent.” The threat was evident. Adrienne would obey, or she would die. Either served the Survivor’s purpose.

Yes, Priére’s been up there awhile.

Adrienne took in a breath, then nodded. "Okay."

Kelsier smiled. “Great! Welcome to the team!” He removed her bonds, offering a hand to help her get up.

Goodbye until tomorrow night! Have a great Shabbos everyone.

"The team? You're holding me at spikepoint to find a single pub. I wouldn't call that a team."

"Uh... what was it like in the Cognitive Realm?" Faith asked Lilliana.

@Random Bystander

"It was really strange. It might just be that I didn't expect to die today, but I probably wasn't paying as much attention as I should have..."

Hoblim looks up from the book. "According to Secret History, which we apparently have right here, the Cognitive Realm of Scadrial looks like it's made of mist, with obsidian-like islands where there are waters. Now, I can't know if things changed during the last three centuries, but that's generally how it should look."

"Yeah, we don't really know how the Cognitive realm changes or how it's related to each planet, but I think it's safe to assume it hasn't really changed since the Final Empire."

"Then I should probably join the Ghostbloods."

“Ah, ah, ah.” Kelsier shook a finger. “You’re not part of the team, remember? You’re just helping out under protest - and spike point.”

"Yeah. It looked pretty much how it was described, but that's what made it strange."
