Caden turned to meet the Ravenness's eyes, which he immediately recognized as a mistake. Their piercing blue nature only made him want to escape from this woman, but he held his ground. "I will not be cowed by you, woman." He clenched his fists when the confidence that he ever so wanted seemed to be absent from his words.

Her face hardened. "Call off the wedding," she demanded.

Caden felt panic come to a head until, "is that what this is about, woman?" Caden felt himself chuckle, despite not feeling the need or even want to do so. It came off as rehearsed, a practiced laugh meant to imitate a natural chuckle that was close, but wrong enough to give it an unnatural edge. "I will never disobey my king's wishes, if he wants the wedding, then I won't ask for a stop to it." As soon as words left his mouth, however, he felt his confidence leave with them.

Riva growled and grabbed the top of his breastplate. Ideally, she would have pulled him towards her, but since that would be impossible for her, she instead came closer to him. Their noses were almost touching. “Unless you want me lurking in the shadows at every turn to plot your demise, then I suggest you do so. Neither of us want this, General,” she spat.

Arabella bounced a little bit on the bed. The view out of the window was nice, and she was able to see the courtyard and a little bit of the forest from her room. She looked away from the window and glanced around the room. The room was nice, better than anywhere she'd ever lived in. It had a cushioned chair and a desk, and right next to the soft bed she was sitting on, a plush rug. Light filtered through the window and shone on the bed. A painting of a bowl of fruit was on the wall above the desk. Ara's stomach grumbled and she stood up to go find the kitchen.

When a little girl wandered into the kitchens, Nico waved. "Why hello there, little one. I've never seen you before, what's your name?"

"Lovely tuh meet 'cha. I'm Nicolae, servant to the king." Er, well, he thought, the queen now. "What's brought 'cha here, hmm?" Nicolae patted a seat beside him. "You can join us, if you're wantin'."

He chuckled, still not his usual self, but at least amiable. "I meant to the castle, not the kitchens, but a'ight. You're... what, daughter of an emmisary?"

Katie looked up from her third bowl of soup and said through a mouthful of potatoes "oh hello again!"

"Aww, you knows each other? That's sweet, that is. When did ya meet?"

"This mornin'." Katie swallowed her mouthful of soup. "I had to fetch 'er from the Raveness."

"From the Raven now?" Nico furrowed his brow. "Oh, darlin'. I knew she was evil, but to hurt a child... You alright, miss'?"

Ara opened her mouth to start to explain, but shut it, remembering her promise. "I'm okay enough."

“Aww. Well, for what it’s worth, I’s sorry.” He ruffled her hair. “Oi! Cookie! Get some grub for the little-“

"Now Katie, weren't cha listenin'? She said her name is Ara- Arabe- Arab..." Her name tasked weird in his mouth. "Arabella." Nicolae seemed to stare off into space. "Huh. Arabella. Sorry, it's a bit hard for me to say, miss."

Allivia paused with her mouth open for a second. Then, with a chuckle, "Why are you asking about Nicolae, your Highness?"

"He's my attendant. The king assigned him."

She raised an eyebrow and looked around as if to make sure no one else was listening. "You know... you don't have to lie to me. Especially if it's gonna be a terrible lie like that." Allivia put a friendly arm on Eleanor's arm, moving to walk with her. "Us maids won't rat you out, don't worry."
