"I agree. His stories are beautiful..." Ermin suddenly snapped out of his reminiscing as he remembered who he was talking to. "Are you really Kelsier? How are you... Not dead?"

"He's dead, you're actually talking to a copy made of Preservation and maybe Ruin's powers. Well that's what his mind and soul are, no idea how managed to get a body. He believes to be the original as you can see."

“Considering I was the one experiencing the Preservation process - which I recall vividly - I think I’d be a better judge of that than you,” Kelsier noted dryly. “I’ve also held a Shard, which shouldn’t be possible if I was just an Investiture copy of a sapient being. Spren can’t, after all.

“There are multiple opinions on the subject and I know several Shards and scholars who would agree with my perspective over yours. Including  the one whose Investiture was used to anchor me and the one currently presiding over this world.”

He shrugged. “Either way, it’s generally considered highly impolite to imply that a person is other than themselves, unless the person in question happens to agree with that opinion. Scholastic settings and philosophical debates aside, of course.”

Brandon basically said a Spren can’t hold a Shard, which raises quite a few questions on the nature of Shadows, who can. Also, I headcannon that there’s an entire etiquette around Cognitive Shadows.

“Real to me,” Eryn noted. “Never knew before. Sovereign come to South after die in North. He save us. If same as one who died, does not matter. Same enough. And very real.”

“I answered,” Kelsier said, mock innocence belied by a strong undercurrent of mirth.

Eryn snorted, shaking her head. “Not useful answers. Think has to do with spike.”

”Ganache!” Kelsier lay a hand on his chest, feigning hurt. “Revealing my secrets?” Then he laughed, bold and bright. “Good for you. Of course, I’d prefer they put it together themselves.”

Eryn shrugged. “Don’t know how,” she said in her blunt manner. “Only what.”

"A spike?"

"I'll pretend I understand what you just said." Ermin tried to remember why he had come here in the first place. Right, the massacre. He'd thought it had been a group of allomancers, but the Survivor was a Mistborn, one with centuries of practice...

"Did you kill Meens and his men?" he asked.

He doesn't intend on arresting him anymore, he just wants to know.

Kelsier grinned mischievously. “Why? Do you intend to arrest me detective?”

"Yeah, that was very impolite, sorry"

“As long as you save debating the fundamental nature of my continued existence to an appropriate forum in the future.” The Survivor grinned. “I don’t mind arguing it, but I’d rather not do it here.”

Ermin didn't know how to respond. He had been intending to arrest the murderers, but... who could arrest the Survivor? "I doubt I'd be able to if I did"

She snorted. "I know you wouldn't be able to." She muttered under her breath.

Kelsier grinned. “If you ask nicely I might just let you. A religious war might do the basin some good.”

Adilie cocked an eyebrow "If you ever actually do that could you warn me beforehand that I tell my family to move too... I don't know Nalthis or Silverlight."

More worlds? I'm going to have to ask her about that later.

“Sure.” Kelsier smirked. “Don’t worry though.  Saze asked me not to start a war and I’m inclined to humor him on this one for now. Unless the detective here is really Intent on arresting me.”

Of course, Harmony had asked him not too start a war, what had she been thinking?

Yes, what was she thinking? This is Kelsier. Of course Saze asked.

Although it was more of a joke than a serious request. Saze said it around the time Kelsier was resurrected.

"I'll need to do something... I don't think all the deaths will go unnoticed, even if they were criminals, and I wouldn't want to arrest someone innocent."

“They tried to burn down an inn full of innocent people,” Kelsier said coldly. “They deserved what they got. Tell the local lawmen it was an act of god. It’s essentially the truth anyway.”

Just a reminder that there’s no real law enforcement out in the roughs; just a bunch of local sheriffs.

"Don't forget about the thing at the mine." She shuddered. "That also was Meen's fault."
