Zola reached up and patted her hair, figuring out that Eryn had tied a bow in it. "Will you wear one too? And you, Kell?"

Her voice sliced through the room. "Can't have one of his precious humans dying, or else he's letting Ruin corrupt him more than Preservation or some rust and we can't have that."

Adilie stored her Connection to Marie, an unknown woman with spikes instead of eyes was still something scary but it was more manageable, and it was easier to make intelligent sentences without the wrath "Of course I did not, it was rhetorical, surely you understood I was talking about petty uses of power and not about every uses of power, and surely had understood it was rhetorical too and just faked misunderstanding it to try to scare me, right? It worked by the way." She genuinely thought what she had said, it was impossible Marie hadn't done it voluntarily, right?

“You can,” Kelsier said, gaze firm. “Just use words as your weapons. You can kill more with those than any number of blades. I overthrew the Final Empire with three words Marie. You can destroy that woman with a few sentences.

”Words are weapons, Marie. You know that. You’ve used them and seen them used. They’re the most deadly weapons there are. So show me your skill.”

Eryn does not control Kelsier. Eryn was making an assumption based on her knowledge of Kelsier’s interests. Kelsier’s interest is in not having Marie cause him problems with Harmony. If she can kill Adillie without doing so he’d have no problem with it.

Ermin stood up. "Ruin and Preservation don't corrupt him, they are Harmony. And from what I've seen, you've had your fair share of lethality." He moved closer to Adilie. Kelsier seemed to be convincing the Inquisitor not to attack, but now the more he got used to his situation, the less Ermin liked the man.

“ Shards aren’t metals,” Kelsier said bluntly. “They’re masses of Investiture and have an Intent of their own. Right now Saze is keeping them in Harmony, but that can always change.”
